Originally visited five years ago, though seemingly little has changed save for the desirability of DTLV, it was with Michael Vakneen on-site once again that Pop Up Pizza was visited Thursday, the young man who has since become a recognized name by way of his Pies assisting staff but insisting all he does is assemble the same recipes he created when the countered opened in 2012.

Located at Plaza Hotel & Casino, and as such an unlikely candidate for accolades including the local papers, Tripadvisor and fellow Pizzaiolos singing its praises, guests looking for Pop Up will find it halfway between the property’s front doors and Self-Parking access, the convenience no doubt part of Pop Up’s popularity but even a cursory look suggesting something better than expected.

Based on quality Ingredients and a childhood in his father’s Restaurants, Vakneen finding his love of Pizza during the recession and soaking up knowledge ever since, it is atop Dough treated to lengthy fermentation that housemade Tomato Sauce is carefully spread, the 18” whole Pies a tremendous value ranging from $18-$23 depending on topping for an airy edge and charred bottom that picks up just enough crispiness to be foldable without breaking.

Additionally offering Knots, Wings, Fried Pickles and even a Vegan Pie, all at a fair price and serving their purpose, it was with good fortune that 6:00pm additionally found one of Michael’s Detroit-style Pies fresh from the oven, the overlapping Cheese nicely caramelized into a fine lattice while the bottom was dimpled, buttery and light.

FOUR STARS:  Attempting to set aside service, but impossible to do so entirely as two encounters with the same young woman were protracted to the point of exhausting, there is nonetheless no doubt that Pop Up ranks amongst Sin City’s top Slices and warrants a look from anyone in the area.

UPDATE
The Plaza is quickly turning into my favorite place to be a degenerate. I love the new William Hill Sportsbook and they have plenty of high tops, so you can eat a hot slice of Pop Up Pizza while enjoying the NBA Finals, all for less than $20. Score!

That being said, my second visit here was a real downer. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as my first review leads you to believe.

I got a slice of the Goodman (Mozzarella, caramelized onions, roasted mushrooms, spinach, and red potato) and it was not good. At all. There's thick slices of potato on the pizza. WTF? I don't know if they're starting to skimp on the topping, but I averaged about half a spinach leaf per slice. It's just a bland, yucky pizza.

Next was a slice of the White Chapel (White pie with mozzarella and ricotta cheese, roasted red bell peppers and Italian sausage). It was a decent white pie, but really, nothing special. I can name a handful of places that do white pizza so much better. The lack of sauce makes it bland.

**In conclusion, order the Main St. (best pepperoni in Las Vegas, if not the world), the Newport and the Soho (vegan pizza). Chow that baby down while watching your favorite sports team. Throw back a cold one and enjoy. **

This is Vegas living right here, baby.

Thin, New York style, with good smattering of quality toppings and a decent sauce, with yummy, stretchy cheese. I got a slice of the Main St (pepperoni), a slice of Newport pizza ( Dollops of ricotta, roasted artichoke, peppers, eggplant, spinach and mushrooms topped with a garlic infused olive oil) and the Soho (Vegan mozzarella, spinach, mushrooms, artichoke, and roasted bell peppers).

This is not the best pizza, I had better dough and sauce, But I thinks it's a 5 star pizza joint because the overall vibe is awesomeness. The place is really cool. The Newport, which has no mozza, was really good. The veggies were fresh and tasty. The Soho impressed me the most. I ordered it, secretly wanting to make fun of a vegan pizza, but she was surprised to find it delicious and get this.... HEALTHY PIZZA.

The place is really cute. The slices were ready to go and the price point is another +1. My three slices, which will feed me for the rest of the day, only cost $12.11. They were huge slices filled with quality ingredients.

Overall, Pop Up Pizza is a great stop. Downtown is turning into a great place for a pizza crawl.

5-Star Flavor! Chucked into the far corner of The Plaza hotel & casino next to the South Tower elevators and garage is in unassuming NY style pizza spot named Pop Up Pizza. Somehow affiliated with the Beastie Boys, this franchise pizza place offers Pizza, salads, breadsticks, beers, and other accoutrements. They also serve scoops of thrifty Ice cream and free refills on your. Our service was fast and the delicious pizza was on point. 18in large pepperoni was $25 out the door. The place was clean, service is fast, and the flavor will have you craving more. It's based inside The Plaza hotel & casino. They have approximately 10 to 12 tables. If you're in the neighborhood and are looking for a great slice of pizza I recommend you stop by.

Chris was such a great pleasure to work with. They didn't have the pizza I wanted and he took the time to make this possible. The pizza was great. I love biting into the pizza and tasting all the great flavors of a margarita pizza. Definitely coming back!

Wow, what a wonderful surprise! Pop Up Pizza was outstanding, we are pizza connoisseurs and had been disappointed with pizza in Vegas all week but then found this hidden gem while walking around Fremont. Tucked away in the Plaza Hotel and Casino, we found a pizza so good that it made us think of our time in Naples, Italy - the birthplace of pizza!

Vegan slice is very good. The cheese is very convincing. The spinach and mushroom slice is my other favorite. About $11-12 bucks for these two slices. I’ve been eating their stuff for years and it hasn’t changed a bit with the flavor and textures. And it gets me satisfied and full each time. Good deal!

Honestly best pizza in town and for it being inside a casino their prices are way cheaper than any other pizza joint around. If you like pizza then I highly recommend trying this place. Delicious!

The BBQ and Buffalo wings are bomb! I've posted for Old Town Pub and Grub in Temecula, CA. These wigs are cooked fresh to order and are crunchy and hot! I won't review the pizza bc I only came here for wings 👍👍👍👍👍

Decent variety of pizza menu selections at reasonable prices. The size of the slice was nice sized. The creamy union, spinach and mushroom was awesome. I wish I would have brought some home with me. Staff was very friendly.

POP UP PIZZA! the greatest spinach and cheese pizza I ever had, and I'm from new York! At $5 a slice , you should get the eight square slices for $ 23. The cheese melted into the crust like custard,, the spinach fainted upon the the beveled blistered crust. THE BEST EVER- Even the next day cold.. The best pizza EVER

Good pizza! I was surprised because it's a great price for a huge pizza. Was pleasantly surprised that it was actually good. The crust was good, and they didn't skimp on the cheese, which was awesome. If you are staying at the Plaza, it's a good option if you don't want to leave the property. They are also open late for the after-party munchies.

Pizza was thicker than anticipated, but the entire crust was delicious. Idk what our how, but in not a crust person, but ate this happily. Chick working the register seemed annoyed was her default, but could be cuz of the folks she has to deal with (it's in a casino on fremont st, lots of drunks and tourists). Anyway, definitely would do again. Also got wings. Delicious, too. A bit pricey for the wings, but that's cuz I could eat a bucket full.

Saw a sign that said this was the best pizza in Las Vegas so we had to try it out. It was good but not the best pizza. The only issue I had was the salad, it wasn’t bad but wasn’t fresh.
