Came into town for a wedding and hand lunch at the bar. Bar seats are very comfortable with full service counter. French onion soup was impressive with a good Parmesan crisp and soaked croutons. Also got the goat cheese salad (added chicken) and jambalaya (not too spicy).
Was in Lenox to see a show at Tanglewood and wanted to have a nice dinner prior, for my wife's Birthday. What a gem Bistro Zinc is! Very cozy, chic atmosphere. Our server was excellent! The food was superb. The Short-Rib Dumplings were a great start. I had the Jambalaya and my wife had the Salmon, both fantastic! The Crème Brûlée was to die for! Definitely a top restaurant in the area and worth a visit. I would recommend reservations too!
Bistro Zinc stole my heart. So many restaurants are great in different ways, but this one is perfect in the way that if I could dream up a restaurant it would be almost identical to Bistro Zinc.
My husband and I were so lucky to happen to choose this spot for our anniversary dinner during our trip to the Berkshires and it exceeded all expectations.
First of all - service was everything! Britney you are amazing and we appreciated your kindness more than you know. Thank you for making the night so special!
So onto food specifics - crab cakes are worth driving hours for - hands down the best crab cake I have ever had.
Pear martinis to stay were perfection!
Main courses - we had the scallop special which was just done to perfection. That kitchen has some magic going! We also split the Jambalaya which was incredible at the restaurant (we took most of it to go - which was a great move - it tasted even better the next day).
We paired the house red with the entrees and you know you are in a special restaurant when the house red is outstanding! It was a Grenache blend that was exactly what I would’ve wanted by the bottle!
Finally for dessert - the apple crisp is something so hearty and delicious and the Crème brûlée martini is perhaps one of the best dessert cocktails we have ever had.
Sorry for the long post but hats off to this magical restaurant. I look forward to many future visits!
We just left here. Our waiter was Frank and he was amazing! Very sociable and felt like we’ve known him for a long time. The food was amazing. The only thing I didn’t like about this place was how close the tables were. Thankfully it wasn’t crowded. Other than that, I will definitely be going back. This was our meal and it was on point. Cooked perfectly and melted in our mouths. Frank was helpful with teaching me about wines as well. He personally wrote his favorite down, to have me try at some point. (I’m not knowledgeable on wines. I didn’t feel uncomfortable when speaking to him about it either.) I can’t say enough good things. Great job and thank you Frank for helping us.
Lucky to get in here for a dinner. Food and wines are supper. Service was also very good. No outdoor seating but they had all the windows open so that’s helpful. We ordered fish this time and they are very fresh. Make sure you tell them not to over cook the fish. I requested my salmon not to be over cooked and it’s borderline almost done too hard / overcooked. But overall we had a great time and would love to come back if we are in Tanglewood area again.
The place was booked but we managed to get a table at 5pm . The earliest I’ve ever made a dinner reservation for. Excellent meal from the onion soup, Pork chop and steak frites (cooked to perfection) to the Profiteroles. Love the place And the service was very good. Definitely going back. Lenox is one of my favorite New England towns.
Beautiful room, incredible food, delightful service. Trout meunière was perfect, and the short rib dumplings are a must try. Short rib stroganoff was also fantastic. Pear crisp was the perfect finale on a Nov evening! So great!
This was a good find for us while taking a ski trip out that way! Neither of us had ever tried a ‘fried’ oyster before and they came highly recommended by the staff so we gave it a shot. In my honest opinion, I would have to say they’re better then fried clams but not better then Raw Oysters. Our food was really good and the portions were very generous. Over all, It was a pleasant atmosphere, great food and friendly staff!
For a last minute change of plans at lunch, the range of textures and temperatures in a sandwich convinced me this is a place with real technical abilities. Very professional service and I would give it a sixth star if I had the time to have chosen a more extensive meal.
The Good:
Food was wonderful and we enjoyed our meals. Our server was friendly and offered great suggestions to the menu.
The Bad:
Our table was left with crumbs and was never cleared. There are lots of young people working in the restaurant but no one seemed to notice. Coffee was served luke warm. Although our server attempted the time it took to correct…we were then ready to go.
Conclusion:
For a “fine dining” experience the staff here needs to be better trained. Our server was great but the exclusions to service needs work.
BISTRO ZINC
My wife and I have dined at Bistro Zinc on several occasions . The portions are so generous that the last time we were there we shared not only the entrée but the salad as well. Everything was delicious, just as it has been on previous visits.
The staff is very friendly and professional. (While we were waiting to speak to the hostess, a random customer from one of the tables stopped by and asked the young woman next to the hostess if they could have something chocolate (?). She said “This is my first day.” No problem. He just snagged someone else and expressed his quest for chocolate. The staff person asked “Do you know who your server is?” A novel thought for which he was not prepared. The staff member located his server who took over from there.) I imagine we can’t expect a floor show every time we come in the future.
The only drawback to an otherwise very satisfying experience is that the tables for two are quite close together, and unless everyone can use an “inside voice” it can be distracting. Some neighbors are socially comfortable, however, and a little small talk here and there takes care of things. (Also, that’s how we happened to discover that the staff is very accommodating about shared entrees.)
We thoroughly enjoyed. Great wait staff, wonderful atmosphere and the food was really delicious. Highly recommend it. B and B Oct.2023
New on the menu, sweet corn vichyssoise. So good, must try it! Steak and frites were delicious! Husband had the crab stuffed trout and ate every moral. Our waitress Melissa was awesome. Lovely anniversary dinner.
