Oh, NLCD, how we love thee! Best cake donuts in town. The cake is moist and flavorful. The toppings are fun and delicious. Their yeast donut is also very good. Their coffee is delicious. The staff is fun and friendly. It can get crowded, so avoid peak times.
Me and my son enjoy breakfast here every Friday. The staff is great, and do their best to be friendly and move the line quickly. A plain glazed right out of the fryer is my favorite. My son enjoys whichever is the messiest that day. The donuts are dense and crispy, which I find perfect. No two donuts look exactly alike, which gives it a nice handcrafted quality, with the downside being that the size is also not uniform. I've had some giant donuts and I've had some tiny donuts at NL. Overall, I don't think you can beat North Lime on this side of town. I hope my son wishes to continue our breakfast tradition for years to come.
We love this coffee shop! They have THE best chocolate glazed donuts. I also enjoy the bustling atmosphere in the mornings. The music can be a little loud sometimes though. And they need cushions on the seats outside. But it's quaint and cozy. And LOCAL!
+ Excellent plain glazed donuts
- Non-glazed donuts can seem rather small, and considering they are higher-priced, don't seem like a reasonable deal
TIP #1: I love chocolate, and the chocolate-covered glazed is good (but very rich). However, that chocolate masks how great the plain glazed donut really is. I highly recommend you try the glazed in plain form if you have always been getting the chocolate-covered ones.
TIP #2: If you take some home, the glazed donuts are not that great after day one. Here is my favorite way to eat them after day one: place the donut under your oven broiler until the top of the donut looks like it is rapidly "boiling". Turn off your oven and leave it in there for another 2 minutes, and then eat!
First, I am always in support of local donuts! Second, this place is so popular that I believe a third location is needed. Third, amid all the fanfare, I still prefer Spalding, Magee's, Rolling Pin (Owensboro, KY) and Golden Glaze (Madisonville, KY). I do enjoy North Lime's whole bean roaster - Nates Coffee, as well as its plain glazed donut, which was delicious; however, some of its specialty donuts, such as Funnel Cake and Funk-Feti, missed the mark, in my opinion. More times than not, I am seeking a plain glazed or a chocolate iced donut, and for that, I will probably visit Spalding or Magee's, but ... not always.
Much easier access with same great donuts as downtown! The Caramel Apple Butter is not to be missed!
Glad to have one on my side of town now!
New location. Same fantastic product, with alot of parking. This place is not to be missed.
