Get tasting food! Great prices......although they have outgrown their location. So, it can take up to 15 minutes to place your,order and 30 minutes to receive your meal. No one truly mind since the food is so delicious.

Great food in a little place! Staff was friendly and honest about the wait time on food with each customer. When we got there it was 20 minute, by the time we left it was almost an hour. I was worried the fish and chips wouldn't be as good since they were so busy, but it was AMAZING. Batter was light and crisp, fish was moist and flaky, curly fries were great and the tarter sauce was so yummy!!! We didn't drive from Portland to eat here, but it made the trip!
They were effecient about ordering and getting people sat down. The halibut fish and chips were amazing!! My only complaint is that I could eat way more than I got, but the price was reasonable and they fish was wonderful and so were the curly fries! They do well with having a small place! Definitely need to expand!
Delicious food, but it took 50 minutes to get it. Come before the lunch rush. It's a small building with limited seating, but if you turn right out of the parking lot, and go about half a mile on 101, there is a public beach parking lot on the left where you can watch the waves and enjoy the meal.
Best fish and chips hands down! Fast friendly service, they may not stand and chat with you but that's what you'd expect when you have people waiting in line out the door. dining room is small but well worth the wait. This is a staple stop every time we are in Lincoln City.
Food was really good and the low price is a perk too. I ordered the breaded shrimp and chips. I would go back no question. Just know.. to go means to go.

$6 Fish & Chips!. While on a work trip to the coast, a coworker and I stopped into J's, past our normal lunch hour, definitely hungry, and just hoping to find good quality fish & chips at a reasonable price. The outside may not look like much at the moment (they are renovating), but inside, J's offers a good-sized "order at the counter" menu, including a $6 lunch special menu. We both ordered the first special: 2 pieces of cod, fries and a large drink for $6. This was a great deal. I chose regular fries (curly are also available) and they were good quality, although I was disappointed that the ketchup was not Heinz, but some sweeter brand. The fish: excellent. Just the right amount of tasty, thin coating, fried just right, with the flaky texture you always want to find. The owner/server is very friendly. Since we were there during the later part of the noon hour, the place was full - but by the time our meals were ready, a table opened up. I'll definitely be back.
J's Fish and Chips is an excellent place to eat if you like deep-fried seafood!. Pluses: Fish is fresh, deep-fry batter is light and not too salty or too rich, prices are extremely reasonable due to low overhead, and no waiters/waitresses. Your water or beverage comes in an extra large tumbler so you won't be needing fill-ups.
Minuses: The place is small with few tables and they are usually very busy because the food is outstanding. This is not a traditional restaurant atmosphere and not a place to relax and enjoy a meal with good conversation for an hour or more. Why? Because waiting customers are constantly hawking your table with hungry eyes! I guess those are minuses, but in a good way and that's all because the food is especially good! Families on a fixed budget that love seafood will definitely appreciate this establishment and so will retirees looking for great food at a reasonable price.
Good fried food. This was a wonderful place to get fried seafood. The place looks rough on the outside but the food was delicious. I had some wonderful fried shrimp while my wife enjoyed the clam strips. The food was simple but just what we wanted.

We've been in Lincoln city for 4 Days Now And Have Eaten Nothing But Seafood. This place by far had the best fish and chowder. Not as many clams as I would like, but by far the best tasting! Only downside to this place Is The Smaller Seating Area, But It's Definitely Worth The Wait!
Best halibut fish and chips on the Oregon coast! While the restaurant is not easy on the eyes and the lady behind the counter isn't the friendliest, the good is great. The biggest mistake (in my opinion) with fish and chips is it being too greasy. J's were cripsy yet moist pieces of halibut. If you are a lover of halibut and happen to be in Lincoln city this is a must.
Best food on the coast..... This is a little "hole in the wall" joint but they have seafood down to an art. Ordered fish n chips, chicken strips and shrimp baskets. We love seafood and have eaten a lot of it and this stuff is awesome. We don't usually do reviews but reviews are what brought us to J's and we will eat there every time we visit Lincoln City.
Fish and chips are so good! Fish is fresh and good cuts. Love the chowder! Lady at the counter could be more friendly... She's got the same personality as the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld. We will be back though, food is worth it!
Loved it! Best fish since Massachusetts. Not greasy, an full of fish. Prices are amazing! I could see why the complaints of long lines, but anything good is worth the wait!!!! Go there and get extra. You won't be disappointed.

Worth the wait!. This place came highly recommended so we had to come! This place has very limited parking and even less seating. The shopping complex would be wise to expand their parking lot (saw an empty lot behind the smoke shop) to accommodate the diners that want to come here! The restaurant could probably change their indoor tables to something more space friendly to accommodate more diners as well as add more outdoor picnic tables and install an awning around the roof to cover the tables when rain season hits. The reason I suggest this, as we waited in our car for our order (yes, we dined in our car because there was zero seating) we watched at least 20 people walk in and walk out, that's money walking away with it. The wait was a little long too, 30-45 minutes, and I saw only 1 cook working which should say to management "hire another cook!". In the end, it was worth the wait. We ordered the 4-piece Combo Basket: 2 shrimp, 1 halibut, 1 cod with choice of curly or regular fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and choice soda, which is a lot for $8.50. The shrimp was by far the best and the halibut was excellent, all with an amazing breading. Curly fries are better than regular, but both could use pizzazz, like a fry seasoning. The coleslaw was dry and flavorless. I wish I had looked around the restaurant more before I ordered, as I saw they are award winners for their chowder & fish tacos. Well, I know what I'll be getting next time!
The Best!. We decided to go here on a whim, and oh my, what a great decision! We had to wait awhile and the dining area is small, but the food was absolutely delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly. We skipped dining inside (the place was packed) and took our food to-go to eat at the beach!
Best fish and chips ever. Much better than Mo's. The clam chowder is much better too. Price is very reasonable with 6 dollar meals that include a drink.

Delicious! Fish was fresh and tasty, not greasy. Terrific homemade potato chips. I normally don't like cole slaw but this was good with not too much mayo. Funky coast atmosphere and great staff.

Amazing food. I went to J's for the first time about three Yeats ago and it was fabulous. They have the halibut fresh each day. They slice it there. Thisvus not prepackaged frozen fish. This was amazing and fresh! Their prices are very affordable. We had seven in our group including kids and they had a family size meal that fill all of us up and we still had left overs! I highly recommend J's. We drive all the way from Salem just to go to the greatest fish house.
It is small. And they don't allow you to move tables to suit larger groups. That would be our only complaint. But otherwise its the best!!

Best Clan Chowder. My boy's and I ate at J's today. Food was awesome, and the clam chowder was the best I have ever had. We had to get an extra bowel to take back to Oregon City. Just warmed it up. Just a wonderful as it was earlier today. We'll be stop in on our next trip. and everyone one after

This place is busy and small. You have to wait for your food because it is made to order. Plan on taking it to go. Best fried fish that I have ever had! Go with the combo basket, you won't regret it.
Stopped by here a week ago. My SHW and I ordered the combo basket. Everything was very good. Remember this is a no frills fish & chips place...just what they should be.

Absolutely wonderful and a great deal. The wait was long but it was worth it! Huge portions of fresh fish, panko breaded with cole slaw and your choice of fries, curly fries or homemade potato chips. We got the Ling Cod special which was really fantastic and a steal at $10.99. The combo (1 pc Cod, 1 piece Halibut and 2 shrimp)... a deal at $8.99! The fish tacos were good too and only $5.99 for 2 with cole slaw and tortilla chips. We also got a bowl of clam chowder with was definitely homemade and tasty. The restaurant is small and not much for ambiance, but the staff was friendly and, if you are wanting REAL fish and chips, stop at this place! Best fish & chips I have had in a long time!

Basket Full of Deliciousness. As we pulled into the lot my wife looked over at me and said "This is it?", kinda skeptical. True, its not much to look at from the outside and even the interior is a bit shabby, but I didnt come here to write an article about interior design did I? I came for Fish & Chips, and supposedly this mom and daughter operation served the best in town. I chose the 3 piece Cod and my better half went a size smaller, going with the 2 piece. She opted for the house made Salt and Pepper Chips while I decided to give their Curly Fries a spin.
Once those baskets arrived any doubt we had fell to the wayside. Flaky, delicious Cod, housed in a crisp, panko type breading allowed me to say "I told you so" to the wife who couldnt have been happier to be wrong. The Chips were fresh too, just out of the frier. Coleslaw was legit as well. Even the Tarter Sauce was noteworthy. The funny part was that this meal cost a whopping $14.50. Total (including drinks) Most other places we ate at along the coast cost that much per entree, and yielded results nowhere near as satisfying as this. Sure, its a hole in the wall. You wouldnt bring someone here for a romantic dinner or anything like that, but if you want some damn good fish and chips without breaking the bank; this is it.

Consistently Good!. This is our favorite mom and pop hole in the wall restaurant. The fish is absolutely delicious and you get a nice portion size for the price. We make it a point to eat here everytime we stop. The atmosphere is not fancy, but the good food outweighs that.

Great place, Great price!. We found this place based on trip advisor and decided to try it out. All I can say is this is one of the best kept secrets in Lincoln City. The food and prices are wonderful and the owners are very very nice. It is a cozy place (small) but the wait is well worth it! They have been very accomodating to my non fish eater in the family by throwing in some chicken and the chowder is delicious. Try it out, you won't be sorry!

One of the best tasting Fish & Chips I’ve ever had, with reasonable prices! Their 10 piece Cod family meal, comes with slaw & fries was only $35, probably the best value in town. Highly recommend adding clam chowder to complete that meal. Fast service & friendly staff. Only downside is not enough seating but that’s because the demand is so high. Definitely will make a point to eat here every time we visit the area. Highly recommend, you will be glad you found this place!
I highly recommend J's Fish and Chips for a quick bite of great coastal fare. The fish and chips are on point, and far better than most fancy sit down restaurants at a fraction of the price.
It has always been busy every time I've stopped here, with good reason. The service is great, the food comes out fast, and the prices let you feed your whole family without breaking the bank. Fore warning, there is not a lot of seating inside, so it might be difficult seating groups larger than 4 people.
Speaking of which, their food is great to-go. They cut holes in their containers to ensure their fish and chips don't get too sweaty. It's that kind of attention to detail that makes this one of the best fish and chips spots in Oregon.

This place is kind of a dump but in a good way. They were slammed when we were there. The food was great for a great price. The staff worked hard to keep everyone happy.
Quick stopon on a roadtrip visti the Oregon coastline. I checked the reviews on social media beforehand, of course I decided to give them a chance. Great parking, be careful crossing over into lot, lots of non stop traffic. I called in our order, due to my time. Customer service was professional and quick. They even brought my food out to my car!
I order Halibut fish and chips, all my food was hot and fresh! We enjoyed this quick bite to eat. Yes, I will recommend to all, do yourself a favor stop here if your in town.

Employees were pleasant and the fish was great. The fries were soggy and we didn’t eat all of them. We had to pay extra to get shrimp sauce (.50). with the shrimp we ordered. Not a lot but irritating. While I’d prob go back, my wife said she def would not.

Hands down the best fish and chips on the coast. Cooked hot, good portions, and fairly priced for what you get. The restaurant itself is very small with limited seating... only thing I wish was better! Worth it for the food, though. Go! You won't be disappointed!

The food here was amazing. We got the Halibut Fish n Chips of course, and it was cooked to perfection. The service was quick, and whether it was friendly or not depended on who you were talking to at any given time. I got to try the shrimp as well, and it was delicious. My one complaint, even though it got a laugh from all of us, was when my mom ordered a water, they gave her a miniature cup like she was a Hobbit from the Shire. It took a lot for none of us to laugh. We didn't want to be rude to the waiter, but it was like.. come on. You couldn't give her the same size Styrofoam cup as you gave us for our soda? She's diabetic, which is not on anyone else of course, but you have to order a soda to get a cup that's only big enough for my children as it is? If you order water you get a cup that's big enough for three sips, as long as they are not big sips. They were stingy on the sauce too, but I get it, everything has gone up in price. Excellent food. Would recommend to anyone, just don't order a water.
We came out to Lincoln City for some work and to spend a day at the beach. It was cold but sunny and not too cold. After playing for a couple hours we were ready for some lunch. With Covid and not knowing the town very well we didn't know what to do for lunch. Kind of hard to tell what restaurants are up to. We just drove down the highway a bit and saw this fish and chip stand couldn't really tell if it was open but pulled in. They had it set up really well we just ordered from the car and went and grabbed our meals when it was ready. The fish was really good. The kids loved the corn dogs and the chicken sandwiches.
This place was recommended to us by a local and we had to try it. Didn't disappoint! We had the cod fish and chips and shrimp basket. So good!
The clam chowder is delicious! It has a slight twist to it that I hadn't had before. Soooo good. Their Salt and Pepper chips. So yum!

The fish was great, loved the panko crust, I will go there when I'm at the coast. Only thing is the halibut was thiner than I liked, just me tho, next time I will try the cod it looks really good too.
