Okay, I have a significant pet peeve about waiters. I’ll air it right now: Unless you have a perfect photographic memory and a flawless record of error-less order-taking, do not attempt to take someone’s order without writing it down. That’s how I got that burger right there, the Skipper’s Burger at Thirst ‘N’ Howl, with American cheese instead of Pepper Jack. And how one of my companions received Pepper Jack on his Thirst ‘N’ Burger. I wish it weren’t the only issue I’d had at the restaurant out on Highway 10... because I rather liked the burger itself.
Great Local Haunt - Good Food, Good Beer, Good Company. This place is great! Not only is it a treasured hole in the wall where the drinks are cold and the food is good, it's got a great atmosphere to boot! The owners Mark and Sherry are super nice and get right in serving drinks and chattin' up the locals. They have really great bands that come in and play all the good tunes from the yesteryears and if you go on a Friday night it's likely to be hoppin' and pretty packed. They are also amazingly pet friendly, which I love, and have even invited my Newfie mix Alphie to come and hang on the deck while we knock back a few DB Pale Ales!! Definitely a great bar and one of my favorite haunts.

Great food, great music, great people. One of my favorite local restaurants! Went last Friday night and our food was outstanding. Started with an Italian sausage, potato and kale soup, homemade by Sherry herself. Very delicious. I had the catfish platter, which was the best catfish I've had in Little Rock. Several large fillets, perfectly fried and seasoned. It came with several side items, including fries, cole slaw, relish and okra. All delicious and the platter was big enough to share. My boyfriend had the patty melt with onion rings, which he thought was the best he's had in town. This was the first time he has eaten there and he was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and flavor of their food. The owners, Sherry and Mark, are genuinely interested in making sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable time. We stayed for the band and what a treat! Thirst N's has live music and never charges a cover. Highly recommend Thirst N'Howl. Great food, great prices, great people, great music!
Blues Night. Tuesday nights are blues jam with some great musicians sitting in. Food was good, beer cold, and the music great!

Their food IS fresh everyday. They create their own recipes and make dishes from scratch. The owners are friendly and focused on great customer service. The staff reflects that, as well. Very reasonable prices and great weekly specials. Very clean and smoke-free environment. Great patio.
The food is BY FAR some of the best in Little Rock! Boiled peanuts!!! Catfish plate! White chili! It's all wonderful.

$10 catfish dinner plate in Friday night was outstanding! Huge portion, crisp, hot, flavorful and well worth the price with the sides. Collard greens were good and fries also. Will definitely be back.

Great Place for food and music. The food never disappoints. They have great music by local bands with no cover charge. There is not another place in Little Rock like it. There is only one dislike in the reviews. Try it!
Best Bar In Town!. I have been going to Thirst since it opened. I love this place, the owners Mark and Sherry are awesome people. Also the servers are great, Zach is always on point no matter how busy they are. This is a regular spot for me and my friends on Thursday nights they have 50 cent beer and on the weekends it's a chill spot to sit on the patio and have a few. The food is awesome to, I haven't had anything I haven't liked from here. The burgers are awesome, probably the best in town if you ask me. Check this place out if your looking for a laid back chill bar. You won't be disappointed.
What a fun place! Decent food and great service - we had a large party and basically played musical chairs around the table over several hours and the server still managed to give us perfectly separated checks. She must have a photographic memory! It was a really fun experience across the board.
Great Neighborhood Spot!. Good food, good bar, and good atmosphere. Drink specials are good and the food is a must! The Chicken Fried Chicken on Wednesday is great - highly recommended. The Burgers a delicious and the Friday Catfish is a platter of southern heaven. Chicken strips are very good so bring the kids. Local bands play later in the evening and the Folks there are very friendly. I go there several times a month.
Great neighborhood bar. I have been coming here for over two years and this is absolutely my favorite place to come out and have a drink, enjoy some great food, and talk to good people. Mark and Sherry are good people who really care about their patrons. For me, this is the best bar in town. Great prices, great live music, the food is amazing, and the people you will meet here are always friendly. They also have a great dog friendly covered patio. My menu recommendations: the white chicken chili, catfish on fridays (best in town in my humble opinion), and the volcano burger. Really everything I've ever had here has been great so don't miss out on the food. Come out and support a local bar, you won't regret it.
PS. The diamond bear pale ale tastes better here on draft than other places. Call me crazy but it's true.
Great Neighborhood Bar and Grill. We have lived in West Little Rock for twenty years and have never had a good neighborhood bar and grill until Thirst N' Howl opened a couple of years ago. We now go at least once a week and enjoy the food, music, and company of friends. The burgers are exceptional, huge and juicy with all of the trimmings; the best we have found in Central Arkansas in 20 years. Good drinks, cold beer, and a decent wine selection, but this is not a wine bar. Nice patio for summertime and smokers. They also have excellent live music (with no cover charge) about 4 nights a week. Hope they are here a very long time.

Great Place to hang out. Thirst N' Howl has been our "cheers" for lack of a better term... home away from home for the past year. Fun place - lots of great food, friends and unbelievably good live music - with NO cover charge. If you get a chance to come out - try the white chili or the Quesadillas...so good! (oh, and don't forget .50 draft on Thursday all night!!!)

Great Neighborhood Pub. This place has a lot to offer. Great Menu with plenty of choices. Plate lunches are wonderful. Full Bar. Outside seating available, The music offered including Karoke is terrific.

GREAT Place!. My husband and I are there EVERY Tuesday night for the Blues Jam...GREAT music, FABULOUS food! The white chili is to DIE FOR and the Shrimp Po'Boy is INCREDIBLE!!! Best place in WLR.
My husband and I love Thirst N' Howl. Great food, wide selection, very friendly staff, awesome atmosphere. We came for the first time about 2 months ago and have come back since with several groups of people! The patio is great too! Chicken quesadillas are great, my husband likes the burgers, the cheese dip is fabulous. I want to try the grilled PB and Honey! Eat here!! You won't regret it!

Ummm yeah!. .50 cent beer on thursdays!!! food is AAAAAhhhhmazing! We're in our 20's and love the place. Sometimes there aren't enough servers or cooks so it takes a while for everything when they get backed up. But seriously, the staff is nice and the patio is great... A+

Howl, Yeah. It's For Real.. I have had a hankering to try this place, ever since reading numerous US reviews raving about how good the food (particularly the burgers) is at Thirst N' Howl. After finally trying TNH last evening, I was absolutely blown away by the magnitude of its goodness. I think you will be as well.
I have seen conflicting reviews concerning this place's status as a bar or restaurant. The food is excellent, and the beer is cold, so who really cares about labels? Since TNH has a full menu, it definitely qualifies as a restaurant, much more so than a place like Flying Saucer, which is a beer-only (for all practical purposes) bar that offers extremely limited fare. Unlike Flying Saucer, TNH has a full bar. I'm not picking on the Saucer per se, just using it as a means for comparison, although the food at TNH blows the Saucer's out of the water.
I love the whole island castaway theme that was chosen for the restaurant. They pay homage to the classic TV show Gilligan's Island, as character names from that show are applied to many of the dish monikers at TNH. The restaurant's name, Thirst N' Howl (Thurston Howell), also appears to be a thinly-veiled reference to the show. Atmosphere kind of reminded me of Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, but not entirely derivative of that concept. Not as hokey, either. Thank God.
We were lucky enough to get there during happy hour. I had a 32-ounce domestic draft for $2. Not a bad price for a large cold brew. My wife suggested that we start with some potato skins. Best I've ever had. Harmonious amalgamation of bacon, cheese, jalapenos, green onions, and potato. It was perfectly cooked, too. I was impressed, and very excited to order the entree. I had already decided that I would be having a burger, just needed to determine which variety. I love spicy food, so the Volcano Burger (advertised as having jalapenos) appeared as though it would fulfill that proclivity nicely.
I'm ecstatic to report that Thirst N' Howl serves the best restaurant burger in LR! ABC and Buffalo Grill have absolutely nothing on this place. Very few restaurants in this town can cook and season a burger properly. TNH is one of the places that can. Delicious burger. Seasoning was perfect. Jalapeno peppers adequately bolstered the piquancy. Dressings for the burger were minimal, which I like. The Million $ Sauce, a combination of honey mustard and mayonnaise, was placed on the side. It was not drenched all over the burger, like many burger joints have the terrible habit of doing. Juiciness was definitely there, without being greasy. I want to thank TNH for doing a burger the right way. I am indebted to you. Homemade potato chips that accompanied burger were fantastic. I tried some of my wife's fish and chips, and also the hushpuppies, all of which were quite good. Everything I tried was solid. I will be returning here many times.
Just as we finished eating, a group of fifty-something musicians hit the stage to perform. Didn't make it through the first song, a screeching cover of a rancid Billy Joel tune. I almost broke my leg running for the door. Even though the live music I was exposed to at TNH was akin to the spontaneous emission of airborne anthrax, it was not enough to ruin an otherwise flawless dining experience. Don't cheat yourself out of giving this place a shot.
A fantastic gem for West LR! Fantastic food, kind staff, live music, and it's inexpensive! It's not like other bars like Erine Biggs where it's a bunch of young people; rather it seems like a more mature crowd but with a nice mix of ages. Did I mention the food? I've had their catfish, slaw, fries and volcano burger (not at the same time) and everything is delicious! Some of the best in the south!
I loved it. We ordered the first burger on the menu and the sweet potato fries. This was delicious. The service was good, but the food took a while to come out even though it wasn't very busy. So, if you're in a hurry, try somewhere else until you have some time on your hands. I was very impressed and will definitely be back. I love the t-shirts and tropical look of the place.
Scrumptious!. The white bean chili was fabulous. Had to have a second helping. Had a burger on a previous visit and it's as good as I've had since "The Box" closed. Coconut Shrimp is also good. Get the point? Get out to see Mark and Sherry for good company and even better food!
Good stuff.. I heard a couple people at work talking about this place and was in the mood for a hamburger the other day so I thought I would give it a try and I am glad that I did. First of all, the place had more of a bar feel and a restaurant, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. My wife and I started off with the cheese dip and it was really good. We then had the basic hamburger and I was very impressed. The meat was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The fries were just so-so to me, but my wife really liked them. There weren't very many people in there, but that can be expected for 5:15 on a weeknight. I got the feeling that they really cater to the later crowd when they have live music. The waitress that we had was also really nice. We will be going back next time we are in the mood for a hamburger.
Great Local Neighborhood Place. We started going here after their opening several months ago and love it! My NUMBER 1 Fav is their VOLCANO BURGER with Sweet Potato Fries! Awesome!! The Millionnaire's Sauce has a perfect blend of spices. Just got back from an AZ week vacation - tried several burgers there and they didn't even come close to the VB here! Tamales are very good too! We can see how Mark and Sherry (owners) are dedicated to making this local restaurant\bar work by seeing improvements along the way since opening. New wait staff have been great - it's always been clean in all areas - and the folks at tables around us have always seemed to be having a good time too . The variety of live music provided 3 nights a week for "our side of town" is fantastic to have!! This place is worth my time and money I've spent here and will continue to support it!!
Liked it, love it & now my favorite!. Clever theme & name for this place, but that is just the beginning. Each time I have been there, I've tried something different. Every dish has been real good and affordable; from the plate lunches or off the menu! Locally owned and eager to please. You can see & feel consistency and that goes a long way in the food biz! The main reason I keep going back is the good service Sherry & Mark provide. WLR needed this place and I hope it is here to stay!
Got an order to go....a burger and chicken quesadillas! We will go back....asap! Staff was great. My daughter just made me take a bite of her delicious hamburger! Holy cow! I never order hamburgers out for myself but this one is worthy!!
Great little place, Mark (the owner) truly has a passion for what he's doing, offering good food and drinks at affordable prices. Come in and check it out you'll come back time and time again.
This cozy little getaway is a real gem. The mango salsa, crab cakes and the millionaires shrimp are faboosh. The burgers are hand pattied and rival any of the burgers at Five Guys. The co-owners, Sherri and Mark, along with the rest of the castaways, make this bar and grill a great asset to west Little Rock!
My husband and I visited there with another couple for the first time last week. We all LOVED it. The food is good and the employees are fun!
Great Food + Great Atmosphere = Great Place. The burgers are awesome, the homemade chips are the BEST, the quesadillas are great, and the Gilligan's Island theme is a lot of fun. The Friday and Saturday night LIVE music rocks! But don't just take my word or anyone else's word over trying it for yourself.
Kids are welcome until 11pm, which is when the kitchen closes, so bring the whole family.

Hey this is how grown folks do it! Before we get to the live music let me set the stage for what you are getting into. Food first. The simplest menu I have ever seem 1. Catfish basket. 2. Half pound Cheese Burger. 3. Pull pork sandwich basket 4. Nathan's hotdogs basket. For dessert Peanut Butter Pie. Of course your choices of beers and wines. Now the music, the live music! Little Rock has talent. Veteran musician from every walk of life, young, experienced, male, female, all races just jamming out! The patrons are an eclectic mix of all walks of life also. Everyone just having a great time. This was a Thursday night. They are just warming up for the weekend.
Had a great time at Thirst N' Howl's Blues night. Its a great time. A great place to have drinks and listen to some great bands. I recommend you go and check it out. It's non smoking, but they have a cute beer garden there as well.
We went to Thirst-n-Howl for a high school reunion. It was great! The food was good and the beers were cold. Add to that, a live band that was AWESOME! Loved our waitress (I think her name was T.K.) She was great!
There is everything to like about this place ..
Good food , lots of choices on beer, wine ,liquor and N/A drinks. Topnotch live music most every night Wed -Sat... Great place outside that you can set and party with friends and look at the stars or watch a game or set out away from all that and chill. A place to smoke , animals are welcome .... well except Giraffes... they do have a grass hut roof on the island ya know.
Safe and lit parking , easy to find in the heart of WLR.
Make sure you have a completely meaningless conversation with Mark, and try to slow Sherry down long enough introduce yourself . Good folks .... and as for the lovely and Amazing Nichole ...... one smile and you will be in love.

The food seems pretty overpriced, especially for the portion sizes. karaoke here is fun, they have live music and an outdoor pet friendly area. One pool table. Drinks reasonable, but not the food. Staff is a bit slow but super friendly.
