Gluten free is not a sacrifice at Lockport’s Kith & Kin A friend of ours asked us to go to Kith & Kin Bakeshop & Bistro, 6429 Dysinger Road in Lockport. There are many places that have gluten-free options, but this one appears to be the only 100 percent gluten-free restaurant in Lockport. This totally eliminates the possibility of cross contamination for diners who cannot eat gluten. I expected a bland tasting meal because I've had gluten free food before and it was very often crumbly or like eating cardboard. The only thing even slightly bland about this place is the décor. It could use a bit more wall art to dress the place up a bit. But, there was music softly playing in the background and as soon as we walked through the door, I immediately felt at ease. Our server, Jake, took our drink orders and gave us the menus. My wife had water with lemon, my friend had iced tea for $1.75 and I ordered a Pepsi for $1.50. The menu offered us several options and it surprised me that they had quite a number of sandwiches, paninis, burgers and wraps. When the server returned with our drinks, he took our order. My wife selected the battered haddock fish fry for $10. The fish was flaky and moist. She said this was one of the best fish fries she has ever had. It came with cole slaw that was delicious, fries that had an excellent taste and a corn bread dinner roll that was as sweet as dessert. This was a wonderful meal. My friend had fish tacos. He got three of these and they were loaded with fish, black beans and corn for $10. Again this was very good and so loaded he had to eat them with a knife and fork. I opted for another special, the shrimp po'boy for $9. This was on a roll with lettuce, tomato, a garlic remoulade. It had an excellent flavor but it could have used a bit more remoulade to moisten it up. It came with chips and a pickle. If you go there to eat, be sure to save room for dessert. They have cookies, pies, muffins, cheesecakes, cakes, cupcakes and cake rolls. Some of these are also dairy-free. We got cream puffs to go for $2 and I defy anyone to tell if they were gluten-free or not. This is a small restaurant with a big dream. Owners Lisa and Tim Jermyn opened the bakery in 2012 and the restaurant in 2014, because all three of their children have Celiac's disease and can become very ill if they eat the gluten found in so many food items, especially wheat. Tim, the chef, is Welsh, which is wherehe name Kith & Kin comes from. According to Lisa, it means friends and family in Welsh. I think it would be a good idea to make a reservation at 417-3305, due to the limited seating and hours. We had an enjoyable time thanks to the staff and a great meal to boot. I give them 8.5 spoons, which is much higher than I expected to give them. Norb Rug is a restaurant reviewer from Lockport. Night and Day, Lockport Union Sun and Journal, 4/13/2017

Finally had a chance to visit Kith and Kin. The food was absolutely delicious - high quality, fresh ingredients, obviously made with love. My husband , oldest son and I are GF and my youngest isn’t and refuses to eat gluten free. Needless to say, my youngest loved his meal and even the baked goods (which are exceptional btw). Prices are great and we’re so glad we have somewhere to go and have an entire menu to choose from. *great food *great baked goods *wonderful staff *delightful and talented owners!

Love, love, love this place. The food is wonderful, the baked goods amazing and the staff friendly and helpful! The crust on the quiche and pies is better than non gluten free! They offer everything from soup and sandwiches to cookies and quiche. If you are looking for GF Christmas cookies this it the place. You can't go wrong with anything here. Highly recommend!

My husband and I are both vegan, but I have dietary restrictions due to allergies to soy and gluten, so we needed our wedding cake to be vegan, soy-free and gluten-free. Kith & Kin Bakery has been making cakes for me for the past couple years, so it was no shock that we wanted them to do our wedding cake. Lisa and Tim, the owners, have always been extremely friendly, open-minded, warm, and very accepting, especially of our lifestyle. They even prepared a free tasting which was so delicious it was hard deciding on the flavors to use. We showed them a photo of a wedding cake we found online which was simple yet beautiful and classic, and they were able to replicate it. On the day of the wedding, they came to our venue to set the cake up, and let me tell you, by the time we got to see the cake we were speechless at how gorgeous it was. All night and even now, we get told how gorgeous the cake was and how delicious it was. Too bad we didn’t get a chance to eat any minus the small amount for the cake cutting. It was that amazing that we had no leftovers except our top tier. We ordered a small cake to order for our honeymoon the following weekend to make up for it. Kith & Kin is just a phenomenal bakery, owned and operated by good people. Their prices are incredibly reasonable. They are extremely friendly and personable, and of course accommodating. It is so nice to find a business who can cater to our dietary needs and we are very much looking forward to continuing to work with them in the future. I recommend them all the time in the local vegan groups I belong to as well. No matter what dietary needs or restrictions you may have, we highly recommend Kith & Kin for your bakery needs!

We do not have a gluten free restaurant or bakery in our area. My daughter who is a very picky eater asked if we could drive up here once a month. We live 6 hr away!! The fried fish was delicious. Yummy pancakes and the cream puff was to die for!!!

Many thanks for making my gluten free/dairy free Thanksgiving feast easy and delicious. My entire family loved the gravy and pies. I made a stuffing with a loaf of your white bread and the gluten lovers of the group had no idea they were eating gluten free. I am so thankful for all you do to make life a little easier for those of us with allergies/sensitivities!

Going out to breakfast is one of the basic desires people have when they come home to spend Christmas when their family. Having a place to go, where I don't have to worry about cross contamination AND they take of my other food allergies is a blessing to me. The staff is always so warm and friendly it makes the entire experience a delight. Thank you for opening Kith and Kin, it makes our entire trip better!

Everyone at Kith & Kin is so nice and the food is amazing. Despite all the food restrictions I have I never once felt like I was making a compromise on taste when dining with them or with their deserts. I've even had people who were unaware that my deserts from Kith & Kin were gluten, soy, and dairy free comment on how good they were and go back for seconds!

Went there last Friday for the very first time for a fish fry. It did not disappoint. The staff was so friendly and gave me some bread to sample since it was my first time. I walked out with dinner and entirely too many delicious baked goods. I’m sort of glad this place is not right around the corner but I can’t wait to go back!
