Johnny Reb's is so good, I had the baby back ribs last night. they were so good and juicy and I had macaroni and cheese the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had in my life. Our waiter Daniel, gave us the best service. Love this place.
This is a southern establishment with wooden floors and a great feel, to top it off the food is spectacular. This place is a stable in my book
excellent service excellent food ..and remember if any of you have a dog like I do ...don't forget To take something special for them they sell a huge bone my dog loves it ..
Enjoyed our first visit! Yummy food. Super nice staff. Chill down home atmosphere.! Had a small error on the bill and Greg took care of it right away. It isn't an inexpensive place, but it's def one you'll enjoy & I'll def go back next time I'm in the area.
It was so good 😊 everything I had I loved I give it a 10+ & the service was great, it was my first time & I went for my 58 birthday I’ll definally be back Thank you
Johhny Rebs is the best-- yummy comfort food and a great team of employees. They gave me a complimentary peach cobbler with my order to-go (I think because the wait was a little long at lunch time) but what they didn't know is that I was delivering this to-go order to a friend whose family is going through some tough times right now, and they just made that special delivery that much more special!! Thank you to the manager, Greg, for that special addition!
It was clean. The baby back ribs, veggies, mashed potatoes /gravy, biscuits, butter & iced tea were all perfect and so was the service. I am looking forward to going back again.
We keep on coming back for more
Relationship goes way back before the fire 🔥 one of my daughters went here for her 14th Bday she's turning 28 soon. Gotta kiss the Pig if you go also, one of few places in the city were you throw your used Peanut shells on the floor. My kids never got used to that one (lol). Wonderful southern style food mostly BBQ done pretty right.
As a South Georgia farm boy transplanted to Long Beach years ago, I found Johnny Rebs a genuine link to the food of my childhood (and the eclectic country/gospel/southern rock background music doesn't hurt).
Good food is matched by a friendly staff -- even the kitchen crew says ''Hi!"
Best of all, proper sweet tea and the only real grits I've ever found in SoCal.
Go.
I was skeptical about finding good Southern food at a restaurant near Compton, but I was pleasantly Suorised. The friendly service and home-cooked food takes me back home to Arkansas. I recommend the Chicken Fried Steak and BBQ Pinto Beans.
Like going home to NC. First time eating here, the food and service are outstanding. The biscuits are fluffy but have a great consistency.
Awesome! Why on earth would you want to go to a chain restaurant when you can come here and have something unique!
Just Great. I love to have lunch here. The ONLY word of caution is to be early; the parking is challenging, and it's popular.
Great food; good prices.
The people who wrote negotive reviews must be crazy or just high maintince customers..great food, great service and fair prices..CHECK IT OUT
Tastes of Home. A southerner myself, I find nothing more comforting than sweet tea on a menu. A rare find in SoCal, indeed. From the license plates on the wall, and the heavily wooded decor to the butter-centric food, there's no place like home.
Granted, the food isn't primo, but if you're yearning to eat your way back to your southern roots, stop in Johnny Rebs' and sit a spell.
Update: they definately have reopened and it better than ever!!! I recomend the fried chicken, word of advice made fresh so it takes about 10-15 minutes longer to get it oooooh honey it's worth the wait!!!!!!
Southern Fried Comfort. Love, love, love this place. It has all the southern comfort food I crave from the South. The biscuits are buttery, the peach cobbler is ample and gooey, and the bbq is tender. I remember this place had a fire a while back and never heard if they re-opened. Thankfully I was able to partake of the Southern charm of this place before that fateful day.
By the way, the parking lot is tiny and packed. They have breakfast specials too like sweet potato pancakes. I can't wait to try them some time, even if it means going to another Johnny Reb's location.
