Quiet, Peaceful &, Ultimately, Tasty Thanksgiving Lunch/Dinner. My brother and I had our Thanksgiving dinner at Michael's Café. My spouse had me stop at another restaurant for her lunch/dinner. She waited in the car as I picked up her meal, then drove her home, prior to my meeting up with my brother. I had telephoned a "reservation" the previous evening. The person on the other end of the telephone conversation stated that I would not require a reservation. That should have sounded the bells. Indeed, we did not need a prior commitment because there was only one couple, most likely hotel guests, in the restaurant during our repast.
I needn't have worried since the traditional turkey dinner was fine. I had one annoyance with the restaurant. They advertized that diners would receive butternut squash soup and the salad described. When we arrived, the ampersand printed on the menu was blocked out and the word or was substituted in ink. I was livid, at first, but decided not to make an issue of the situation. We both chose to have the red apple and baby arugula salad with pecorino, cashews and balsamic vinaigrette. My sibling had his standby margarita on the rocks. He proclaimed it the strongest he has ever had despite copious amounts of ice and arriving in a small cocktail glass. I preferred Samuel Adams Octoberfest on tap. The dinner included a glass of house cabernet sauvignon.
The aforementioned turkey with mashed sweet potatoes and sautéed Brussels sprouts with bacon and balsamic glaze plus homemade gravy was surprisingly good. The sprouts could have been parboiled a little longer. Dessert was vanilla crème brulee, two blueberries and two halves of a strawberry. It was fine, but hardly served with mixed berries!
I finished with a nicely executed Cappuccino and he ended with green tea.
The food is absolutely delicious, from the seafood to the steaks to the pasta, etc. My personal go-to setup is the Tagliata NY Strip with Lemon Potatoes, Filet Mignon with Asparagus alongside the Shrimp Cocktail, washed down with a soda. I went pescatarian for a day as displayed in the picture of the moderate portion. You got some great characters in there too, the ones making it all happen. Bring your friends and family over when you’re around the way. The warm, classic, modernized setting alone will have you coming back. See you soon.
Had a little time to kill before a meeting and decided to have lunch here while I waited. Thank you so much to Chris for the hospitality and letting me continue working at my table. Greatly appreciated. Oh! and the chicken wrap & truffle fries were delicious 😊
The Michael’s burger was great! I also had the cheesecake, it was fresh and delicious. Will be ordering takeout again!
