Excellent food in a cool old-timey atmosphere. DO NOT sleep on the eggplant caponata, I've never had eggplant that was better prepared; it just melts in your mouth! They also have a handful of very reasonably priced bottles of wine (under 30), if you're into that 😏

I was really surprised by how good the food was - the interior is pretty drab and outdated, but the calamari, chicken parm and tartufo were all really good!

We ate our final meal at Dazie's last night , unfortunately the staple of fine dining in our community has closed after decades in Sunnyside . We have many great memories in this family owned restaurant. Many warm regards to the family who's treated us as such for years. Best wishes to you in the future. Raising a shot of limoncello as we were typically greeted with to you all.

A New York institution with some of the most amazing food, service, and history that New York has to offer. Run by the children of a New York political and social powerhouse and game changer this restaurant has endured for 50 years and will hopefully endure for decades to come. I was greeted by Ray, the son of Lily(the family matriarch) , who proudly walked me through the rich historical significance of both the restaurant and his beloved Mother. Take a moment before you enter the restaurant to revel in the fact that it sits on a street renamed and dedicated to the amazing impact she had on the community, the city, and national politics. Though she is sadly no longer with us, the entrance of the restaurant is adorned with remarkable photographs of her rich life and influence. From images of her as waitress to pictures of her with Presidents, female presidential candidates, musicians, politicians, and more. If you ask Ray to walk you through the history he will humbly omit that he proudly stands near her in many of the pictures. Make sure you let him know that you noticed. The restaurant is so beautiful you'll be amazed you haven't visited before. Just a short easy ride by train and literally 200 ft from the train stop it's a gem you can't believe you haven't discovered. With a baby grand piano that regularly has an accomplished accompaniment or an opera singer it's entertainment at the warmest levels. Great for large groups or an intimate romantic dinner for 2. You must go and enjoy a hidden part of New York's amazing history. The food and service could not more amazing. And they have an area for special events should you need a place to throw you next party!

Coming from an Italian community, maybe I have higher standards than others. However, I want to say that the food and service that this family offers at Dazies is amazing. This restaurant offers you wonderful authentic Italian food. The wait staff are professional, but also kind in nature. This place has a family feeling, yet there is an effort to pay attention to every detail. I really loved place.

Staff was very attentive and made us feel like family. The environment was cozy and charming. The food was excellent. Reminded me of Sunday Supper growing up as a child. Would definitely recommend and go back!

Wonderful service, deliciously fresh, *real* Italian food. It reminded me of my Mom's - and her family was from Sicily. We love the old world charm of the place, and the friendly front of house staff who are both knowledgeable and accommodating. We have been going there, on and off, for 20 years, and we hope folks will go and enjoy the food there so that it stays around for 20 more! Buon apetito!

I went to Dazies with my wife to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We loved this restaurant when we lived in the area but we moved away over 16 years ago and took the opportunity to eat here while we were on vacation in NYC. As soon as we arrived, Ray the owner recognised us, and welcomed us as if we were constant regulars there. The hospitality that we were shown was second to none and the meal surpassed all our expectations. This restaurant is and always was a real gem. Thanks Ray again and all the staff who made us feel so welcome and turned our anniversary into a very memorable occasion. Until the next time, Salute.

Every time I am in New York - this is my favorite spot for Italian food! You can not go wrong with the food and the over-all feeling! However - the last time I was there the waiter seemed a bit rude - if you can deal with some of the attitude from the help - rest assured you will not be disappointed with the rest of it all.
