Went for a special dinner and the food did not disappoint. We had the tasting menu, hreat selection. The service was very good and polite, explained the menu and items very well. Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good sushi place
The food is very good, and about what you’d expect for the price, but it’s hard to get a good selection if you’re eating solo. As a couple or small group you’d have more choice without breaking the bank.
Service on arrival made me think I should’ve reserved, before I was taken into an empty restaurant on a Sunday night. Unnecessarily stand-offish.
I had a seat at the kitchen which added to some of the atmosphere but tempered by the cold welcome.
Chose to come here for my birthday dinner. The restaurant was very nice and dimly lit. The staff was very kind and patient. The food came out swiftly and everything was enough to share. The food was hot and seasoned well. There were some additional Taxes that the wait staff explained the reasoning without my table even asking. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. At the end a staff even took our picture. I would definitely come back when I am in town.
Katsuya has to be amongst the best Japanese restaurants in the Los Angeles area! Definitely on the pricier side but totally worth it. The sashimi was crazy smooth and delicious. The Tuna with wonton crisps was amazing. The oysters were next level, a flavor profile beyond any oyster I've ever had. Unexplainable!
Haven't been here in a while with my family, and this time, the experience wasn't the best as far as sitting and lighting, that is why I gave the atmosphere such a low rating. We were here for my daughters 29th birthday. They put our party of 8 1/2 in a dark corner with super dem lighting. I had to use my Samsung S22 to light up 🔦 the table for us to read the menu. 😆 Don't get me wrong, the service was outstanding as before. Thanks to Jeewon, the server, and others. The food was amazing, I totally recommended the fried rice with wagyu. The sushi 🍣 is delicious 😋. The picture is a burning mandarin 🍸🔥.
This was such a fun place to grab dinner with my friends. We all did the tasting menu and then added a few additional items. The meal overall felt a little pricy but for the quality and amount of food, I think it was well worth the price we paid. The food was phenomenal, all the wait staff were super attentive and friendly, and the dining experience will surely be remembered. I look forward to coming back for more meals and to try more of the menu. Valet parking is available but I didn’t utilise it this time
Fancy place that looks tacky and doesn’t reinforce hostess dress code and she looks like a ten year old wearing a tank top as a dress. I don’t know, maybe I’m an obnoxious Newyorker. Food was good but nothing out of the ordinary like Nobu in NYC. Drinks were good.
Really fantastic dinner and such kind staff, lovely atmosphere, top notch!!!
I absolutely love Katsuya! I’ve been there countless times, and I have to say, you’re paying more for the atmosphere. If you’re looking for something a little cheaper and more laid-back, I highly recommend The Little IZAKA-YA by KATSU-YA and The ZAKA-YA by KATSU-YA. The food is jsut as fantastic (if not better) and the prices are much more reasonable. Back to Katsuya… While I do enjoy the main dishes, the appetizers are the real star of the show. My go-to appetizers are the spicy tuna crispy rice, popcorn shrimp, yellowtail jalapeño, albacore with crispy onions, baked crab handroll, crispy brussels sprouts, and shishito peppers. As for mains, I can’t get enough of the nigiri (it’s super fresh but sadly doesn’t come with wasabi on the inside), sashimi, Miso Cod, Whole Tai Snapper, and fried rice. Overall, I’m counting down the days until I can go back and indulge in all my favorites at Katsuya.
There's a reason I have to come here EVERY time I'm in LA. Just fantastic!! Love the crispy rice spicy tuna, baked crab hand rolls, assorted sushi, teriyaki chicken and fried rice. Even the dessert was amazing but I could barely eat any. Service is elegant and friendly.
We were seated right away but we did have an early dinner reservation (5:30pm). Service was fast and tentative. Crispy brussel sprouts - a must have! Oysters were ok. Sushi and sashimi was delicious! Only con was the lighting could be better. It was a bit dark. Had to turn on the phone flashlight to read the menu 😂

Fabulous evening with hubby & our nephews! Everything was delicious & on point!
Upscale sushi & Japanese restaurant off Hollywood Blvd. with a modern, creative menu. The vibe is sexy and is a great place to celebrate a special occasion, have a date, or meet with friends. The staff is friendly and quick.
I have been lots of different sushi places this would be on my top list .very good and fast service very nice and friendly staff, food is delicious and fresh here ,we absolutely come back soon & last our spicy Margarita was perfect highly recommend this restaurant.
Good place. After all the Hollywood commotion and homeless on the floors you walk into this place and feel completely in a different place. It's a bit pricey but the place and the energy and the people make it worth while. Ordered some peppers and edamame. And with some rolls. The corn crunch roll was the best.
Oh and the creepy faces in the mirrors of the men's room.
I had a great time. The customer service was impeccable!! The food was great and the drinks were delicious. This place has valet parking starting at $16 per hr. It was a great experience and will go back again soon.
