This food is amazing. The tabbouleh might be the best I’ve had. The hummus is smooth and fresh. The chicken skewers were super moist and perfectly cooked. Grape leaves had a great lemon flavor. One of the best Lebanese spots I’ve had in LA. The server was a bit brusk but did her job. The ambiance is simple but clean and who cares when the food is that good!!! There were two of us- we spent 65 total and went home with a full meal of leftovers.
From left: lamb kabab: 3/5- tasted good but needed more marination and flavour, the rice was so much better than the fries.fatoush salad4/5 good taste. hummus: 4/5 very tasty needed more olive oil, Kanufe 1/5 food coloring looks wierd and there was No mozzarella in the cheese and just the sweet cheese (jebel helou).
Service was ok and could be better.
Overall good Lebanese restaurant would come back.
The restaurant offers exceptional food and services, creating a welcoming ambiance that makes you feel at home from the moment you step inside until the moment you depart. Make sure not to overlook the must-try dishes like the falafel, tabula, and hummus during your visit.
This place always had great food, and it continues to. I really like starting out with a salad or hummus. The chicken kabob is some of the most tender I've ever had. Parking is not too bad. They remodeled the store recently, it looks nice. For some of the best Middle Eastern food you can get I highly recommend this place!
I had a wonderful dining experience at the Carnival restaurant in Los Angeles. Despite being bustling with diners, the service was prompt and excellent. The food was the star of the show – each dish bursting with tantalizing flavors. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a superb meal in a lively atmosphere.
An escape from pretentiousness and hype. This place has a soul. Good Lebanese food with a simple atmosphere of a neighborhood joint. Apparently it has been there for ages. The owner comes to each table to greet newcomers and hug kids.
Saturday night was very busy and we ended up waiting for an hour before getting a table.
Well worth it.
One of the best places for Mediterranean food. Their humus and felafel are the some of the best ones you can find locally
June 2023
Went here again after a few years. Food is still great but I must say that the wait staff were nothing to write home about.
Mmmm mmm mmm ... Carnival Restaurant is a great Mideastern restaurant in Sherman Oaks, Ca.
Hubby loves him some shawarma, and he is always looking for restaurants. He came across Carnival, and we made our way to the valley. Carnival is located towards the back of the shopping center with a huge sign you cannot miss! We entered the restaurant and were seated right away.
We ordered our drinks and started with humos. We were given a basket of warm pita bread and a plate of olives, peppers, and pickled turnips. The pita bread was warm and soft and was so good. The humos tasted very authentic and were very delicious. For my daughter to actually like it you know, it was good!
For our main meals, we ordered a Beef kabob plate with rice and fries, beef and lamb shawarma with rice and Arabic salad, and a carnival combination plate which included a chicken and lamb kabob and kafta with rice and an Arabic salad. Our salads came out first, and even those were so good! They tasted fresh and were just perfect. Our meals were terrific! The shawarma and the kabobs were very tasty with great flavor.
The service was stellar, for we never had to wait around for things and the servers were friendly. The restaurant itself was spacious and decent. The restroom was clean and tidy.
Overall, my family and I enjoyed our visit and left very satisfied and full. I’m glad we made the drive and tried Carnival. It was definitely worth it!
Have been going here for years, especially when I'm craving their Hummus Chicken or Chicken Kebab Pita sandwich. Ask for their fresh mint tea (hot or cold) and they have some of the best fries in LA (verified on restaurant reviews!) that are so crispy and not greasy.
I am Lebanese and find most Lebanese restaurants in LA to be a hybrid of Lebanese and Armenian food (which is fine and also delicious) but sometimes I just want traditional Lebanese food. Carnival is IT! So fresh, so clean, the dishes are prepared with the freshest ingredients, you can always tell from the tabbouli ;) WHICH WAS AMAZING. I barely let my dinner companions have any. The falafel is crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Hummus, Arabic salad, pita, all staples, all incredible. You really can’t go wrong with anything and I cannot wait to go back. This will most assuredly become a regular place for me to get AUTHENTIC Lebanese food!!!!
