Absolutely loved this place. A definite five star Latin American restaurant in Winnetka, CA. yet it has a cool South Pacific surf vibe. Empanadas galore and the best I’ve ever had. The Bacon Jalapeño empanada was a favorite as well as the Beef Tinga empanada. The signature salad that came with the lunch combo was great too. They also give a generous amount of french fries and signature dipping sauces. The desert empanadas are a must too so don’t forget to take some home. This place came highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. This place is going on my favorites list for sure.
Fantastic food. Johnny really cares about the food, flavors and most importantly, the customers. Easily the tastiest food I've had in the LA area. What a secret surprise! Try the island skewers... omg.
They moved into a larger place some time ago and had not been there since the old location. If anything, their food is even better than before, thanks to a larger kitchen and classier digs. You get the strong impression they will be a large multi-location company one day. Very well run, fair prices.
Reason for visiting: lunch with co-workers
Date/time of visit: Friday afternoon, lunchtime (before a long weekend)
Parking: shared lot with other businesses, free.
Party size: 8
Environment/ambience: chill atmosphere with 80s music and random videos playing on th wall. Theme is beach, surfing, canoes, etc. Black and white color scheme. Sign is black outside so it may be hard to see at night. Restaurant is super clean, so is the restroom.
Service: great. Order at the front and food is brought out to you.
Food: had #2 combo: steak skewers with fries, one empanada (steak), rice (instead of salad), and cup of water (free). The food was great. The empanada comes with its own sauces: tartar sauce (?), chimmichurri sauce, and a mayo/ketchup dip (looks like thousand island). Portions are pretty good.
Cost: not bad but expensive for a reg lunch; total for #2 with taxes was ~$17.
Loved, loved, loved this place. Stumbled upon it while visiting LA, and had some of the best empanadas of my life. The Bacon Jalapeno empanada was a particular standout. I highly recommend it.
The empanad here are out of this world. Come check out the spot for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Yummy 😋
Great place to have lunch, dinner.
Or bring a date.
The place in San Fernando valley to try delicious mouth watering empanadas. Freshly prepared chicken empanadas with carrots and cabbage complimented with house made chimchuri is the best at this cozy restaurant. On the menu also wild caught salmon with French fries and salad with vingearette sauce is absolutely fantastic.
Johnny, Johnny -- Affirmative, empanadas.
I read a couple years ago that Johnny Pacific is one of the best/most reviewed U.S. places on Yelp. That's when it was a minuscule little shop southeast from its incipient location in a minute divest mall center.
Likely due to popular demand, Johnny Pacific conclusively relocated only to be caddy corner to their former location in the Saticoy/Winnetka intersection. So it's literally ambulating distance crossing two major streets in the intersection.
JP is kenned for its empanadas and they're ambrosial. I've only had them as a main course when peregrinating here. First, years ago I brought a few samples home to the family which were popular. These days, I'll go about monthly for a treat. I'm not a dietician or nutritionist but don't cerebrate the dainty doughy pockets with cheese and other items are the most salubrious. But they are delectable and filling.
I've had the two chicken empanada options, cheese and spinach. All have been astonishing and dainty.
They've had a lunch special with a diminutive salad and a soda can. The salad is authentically circumscribed to spring lettuce but with a dressing is delectable and light, a great complement to the empanadas.
The restaurant is a order counter contiguous to a chalkboard menu and tables.
There's plenty of parking in the incipient center. Withal, if you require something at Aliment 4 Less, you can hop on over.
Not apologetic about doting Johnny Pacific and its dainty pabulum. Blissful to visually perceive it's still around, in a more sizably voluminous place with better parking and ostensibly doing well. Integrate this to the many positive Yelp reviews.
This is one of our favorite places to eat. Recently relocated in the shopping center by Food For Less. This place has the tastiest empanadas with an amaizing selection of dips/sauces. They seem to freshly prepare them for you so it might take just a little patience, but they are always worth the wait.
I'm adding this in to my rotation of lunch spots. They have a nice variety of items while keeping the menu small and to the point. It was super clean and the staff seemed genuinely friendly. I recommend going with a friend or two so y'all can sample a bit of everything.
Top three things I tried:
-Chicken al pastor empanada - It was delicoiusly seasoned and moist without being soggy
-ChimmiChurri - It was flavorful and bright which made a perfect combo with their fried, meaty empanadas.
-The Flanada - The outside was crisp and not greasy while the filling was silky and the caramel sauce was sweet and gooey. Mmm!
I don't believe I've ever actually eaten inside here - just gotten takeout. But all the food is so so good! The steak skewers, the chicken skewers, the empanadas (I got the jalapeno bacon this time and it may be my new favorite). Even their rice is delicious. The prices have gone up quite a bit over the years, but the portions are huge.
so good! my so. got a cheese and a beef empanada. I got dessert ones. I got the pumpkin and apple ones. so tasty!
I miss eating here a lot since I have moved...sometimes I still make the treck for the great empanadas. The owner of the establishment tends to be there offten, which to me shows that they truly care about customers/employees.
Best service and food that I have found in this area.
Been going here since they were located across the street. Their kalua pork empanada is one of my favorites, though I’ve yet to have an empanada here that disappointed me. The sauces are all great, too; it’s nice to mix & match them with different flavors.
The empanadas were excellent. They were baked fresh, fried crispy (but not greasy) and filled completely. They have many varied selections in each of the pork, beef, chicken or vegetarian. Loved the seasoned fries. The service was friendly and genuinely happy you were there. Price point is affordable. This is a delicious slice of heaven.
First time and I'm happy got recommendations from family member- I wasn't sure about eat fry food but this are totally delicious not gersy and feel like backed.💜🔥 I got the beef dinga and spinach and cheese
The beef is my favorite now.
I really really love this place. If your in the area you gotta try it. They are a pretty SoCal take on empeñadas so you won’t find to much in the way of authenticity in the fillings but that doesn’t mean they aren’t extremely delicious! Try the coconut with caramel sauce!
This place has the best empanadas I have ever eaten! Just thinking about it now makes my mouth water. Atmosphere is chill, highly recommended!
Not bad! It's definitely in a bad part of town though, in the back of a shopping center. The sign is modern but unfortunately, Black so it does not stick out and thus, easy to miss. Really surprising menu. Food is made fresh. Empanadas are very cheesy. Randomly found this place off of Yelp, while I was staying at the Hilton Woodland Hills for a business trip. It's in Winetcka.
