Delicious udon soup! Kind of serve yourself concept restaurant. All the food was delicious, but the menu is limited, in my opinion. Nobody serves you at your table. Saturday at night, the restaurant was crowded, but the line was fast.

First time having udon and it did not disappoint. This place was recommended to me by multiple people and had to try it out. I love the cafeteria style setup. There was a line out the door of like 50 people when I left so that's how you know a place is good! Get there early for dinner if you don't want to wait long, but they move through the line pretty quickly. Although Udon is their speciality, they have multiple pieces of tempura which you can individually purchase, I got the zucchini one and it was my favorite. You get your water cups, to go containers, and sauces all towards the back at the counter. I love that it's all together. For my Udon, I went with the miso udon with beef but you can also make that one into a vegan option if you'd like. Just request it. Street parking down Sawtelle Ave.

Order at the front and you pick up your dish. Then you can pick up any side items on a plate before get to the cash register. They have compostable utensils and to-go boxes near the register. It's pretty casual and tasty. The teriyaki chicken rice bowl was very good.

So happy they have a vegan option! The miso udon with the soy meat was delicious. There's also quite a few vegetable tempura options. Service is cafeteria style with a great self serve station with sauces.

Had this in Hawaii for the first time and I knew I had to come here again. So. Good! The udon is chewy and al dente without being too firm or undercooked. Service is fast and friendly.

Great noodles and amazing broth, fresh tempura, and mostly good prices. They were cheaper literally right before the pandemic and then prices rose. Kind of annoying as hell. But overall really like this place.

Insane place to try out Udon noodles in ramen style bowl. You'll get tons of meat with flavorful bowl. My favorite and only pick here is Curry Nikutama. The portions are so huge you'll make a mistake taking the large portion. The regular is more than enough, this is coming from a guy with huge appetite. Tempuras are great too.

This place was awesome 👌 one of the best noodle 🍜 places I have been to in LA. The items you can add, such as potatoe pattie, chicken, and shrimp, were so good. It was not expensive and definitely a great bang for your buck.

The udon is pretty good and portions are large! I got the cold nikutama udon and it was really good, lots of meat and good toppings. The tempura is self-serve and it was ok, croquette was good but some of the others werent as hot. I was gonna get a matcha latte but the colour of the matcha didnt look right (yellowish green)

I’ve been going to Marugame Udon for years…and let’s be honest..who doesn’t love this place? The pricing, the quality AND quantity, it’s the full package! 🍜🫶🏽🔥I’ve been to other locations outside of Sawtelle too, and the quality control is on point, but this location has a very special place in my heart. I always get the same thing when I go here, which is the Nikutama and tempura (shrimp, squid and chicken). I’ve been meaning to try the curry udon, but I always end up getting what my go-to order! Some day, I will definitely try, but Nikutama is just too good. Udon is one of my favorite noodle dishes, and Marugame always gets their noodles just right…perfectly chewy and not bloated at all. How do they do it every time? 🥹🥰

Always love eating their Udon! Sooo good! Today, it was rainy and cold and perfect weather for Udon! We managed to find free parking on the street! The line was long but didn’t take too long (it’s a Saturday afternoon and took about 10 min). Thankfully there was also seating available. I ordered Nikutama Udon and the sweet beef and it’s sauce was SOOO good!!! The combo of egg and the free toppings of tempura flakes and green onion was sooo delicious!! Also got sweet potato tempura and it was good. The potato croquette was sooo yummy too!! It’s a place frequented by college students (UCLA students get to use their cafeteria card here! I can’t believe how much access they have to good food) and so it was funny hearing some of their conversations at a table next to us. Ah, to be young again. Anywho, the atmosphere is nice and plenty of places to go for dessert after! Pricing is average.

5/5, the first time I came here I got the curry broth ramen and it was too salty but I just went for the second time and the Tonkotsu was so tasty and definitely deserves five stars. The serving is fast but on a Friday night seating with a big party will be a challenge. The spice levels here are a lot lower than across the street at Killer noodle. After dinner I suggest going to Millet to get a crème brûlée crepe. The chicken curry Katsu will be my next choice to try because that also looked good.

The best UDON on Sawtelle! Marugame is definitely the best value-meal in LA's Sawtelle Blvd., with affordable udon bowls and small Japanese small-bites that all hit the spot. There's often a line running out the door, but it usually goes quick and will definitely be worth the wait. There's two size options if you're not feeling too hungry, and you can even order a bowl of noodles on the side if you're feeling extra ravenous! If you're in the area or craving udon, definitely check out Marugame if you haven't already!

I always get the nikutama bowl. The beef and onsen egg is really good. I also always take too much tempura. The recent time I went I actually didn't really like their shrimp tempura. It didn't really taste like anything and the texture wasn't great either. The other tempura I got like the mushrooms were good though.

This was my first time trying this popular spot and it really lived up to the hype for me. The customer was great as all the staff was friendly and informative. The food was tasty and the portions were very reasonable and worth the price. I would suggest this place to anyone that wants a casual lunch but quality taste.
