Ordered for pick up and it did not disappoint. We had the brisket sliders, baby back ribs, corn bread, side of beans and potato salad. The brisket sliders were by far the best I've ever had. It was full of flavor and juicy. I had the mild bbq sauce with it and it added a good tinge of sweetness to the brisket. The coleslaw also had great flavor (and that says alot from someone who does not like coleslaw). The potato salad was great, it tasted fresh and was seasoned well. The cornbread was nice and warm and I personally do not like corn bread but this one tasted great, like home style cornbread. The Baked beans were okay for me. I think if it didnt have the pork in it, it will taste better to my tastebuds. My boyfriend liked it though. Also, they are not canned from what we can tell. The baby back ribs were full of great flavor, like that smoked packed goodness. It was also a very generous portion for the full rack (can probably share between 3 or 4 people). I will definitely be a regular customer at this spot. Definitely check it out.

Got there as the place opened. Friendly and inviting staff. Limited seating inside, but there's a patio. Limited parking as well. Upon entering the establishment the aromas of the various dishes played like a symphony to my nose, illiciting a corresponding mouth watering reaction. The meal was well worth the short wait. This was my first time at Max City BBQ, but it definitely won't be my last.

We frequent this small barbeque joint that serve amazing beef brisket and fall off the bone pork ribs. They ran out of brisket tonight but the chicken and pulled pork are quite good too. One can’t go wrong getting the Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and collard greens as sides. The deviled eggs and hush puppies are nicely priced during happy hour. There were only 2 staff members when we had dinner but the service was polite and efficient.

I live in DTLA but ordered online for pick up since they have good reviews. I came in and informed that I’m here to pick up my online order. The lady acknowledged me when I walked in. Asked me if I want anything else beside the mild sauce for our order. Also asked if I need butter for the cornbread. Very polite and nice. Got home and we devoured our order. We will come back again! Check out the menus below as of 03/28/23.

It was my 1st time there but as soon as I opened the door I smiled, it smelled soooo good & the food was even better than the smell. The staff was all so polite & attentive. Bailey is the sweetest in the world, the chef Ruben hooked it up!!! Definitely will be back. Don’t second guess yourself & try them out, your stomach & taste buds will thank you!

Super Yummy Food and a whole lot better then the other competition, for the sake of not putting the other restaurant down I will NOT mention their name but the quality of the meats and sides you get here is amazing! Their Mac and cheese is a great combination with the baked beans. We usually only come here once a year for mothers day as a special occasion and we take it to go and eat at tye comfort of our home, its worth it for sure! So give them a try! We tried the (weakness) special which gives you a little bit of all the meats they offer with 2 cornbread muffins and 2 sides at a very reasonable price, we always buy the premium side of mac and cheese to add to our meal.

Truthfully I wanted to give three stars, but I decided I liked the food more than I disliked it and for the price to feed two people with that variety of food, you can’t beat it. Pros: the pulled pork was delicious, and we enjoyed the chicken and the ribs, however they weren’t the best I’ve had. It was $39 for the “Weaknees” which included the 4 meats, two sides, and corn bread which is amazing. Cons: I had high expectations for the brisket because it’s been so long since I had it but it wasn’t particularly flavorful. The corn bread was so tough it had the texture of an overcooked bread roll. The mac and cheese was a bit boring but their spicy bbq sauce saved it. The staff was kind and the wait to eat wasn’t long.

Our favorite BBQ place, hands down. We have tried others when we have the craving on Monday (when Max City is closed) and have yet to find another place that even comes close. Whenever we need to bring food for a potluck, this is our go-to and everyone always raves about it. The BBQ chicken, St. Louis ribs, and brisket are our favorites. Great location with a nice selection of beer and wine as well. Highly recommend this excellent hidden gem in Eagle Rock.

This place has been on my to-do list for a while. Im happy to say that it did not disappoint. It's a small BBQ joint and has a cool little patio in the back. Decor is cool and they have a good selection of beer. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was really good. the brisket was a little dry but not a deal breaker. It was still very flavorful and their house bbq sauces are a great! The BBQ chicken was excellent. The real star of the show are the sides! Probably the top 3 coleslaws I've had and that cucumber salad is equally amazing. Giving 4 stars for now. I look forward to going back, trying the ribs and more sides and updating with the 5th star.

Max City BBQ has all the Offerings for a traditional Old School BBQ Spot. From their St. Louis Styled Ribs to the Collard Greens and Cornbread, Max City has the Usual Suspects. I had the Weakness: St. Louis Ribs (I Subbed Baby Backs) Brisket, Pulled Pork and Chicken. They are sometimes out of Collard Greens (because they are so good). The Greens are excellent with a good Spicy Kick) I had the Baked Beans and Macaroni & Cheese! Yes the Mac & Cheese is Baked, no offense to Stove Topped presentations; and the Baked Beans are legit. Not straight out of a can! They Work 'em for ya. All very good. I haven't had many better BBQ places than Max City. I Rate them 5 Stars given what they offer. Bar Seating, Table Seating as well as Patio in the back. Location is right on a Corner with a "Shared" Wall with another business so you must look closely. The Service is always amazing (we love you Cindy) Wine, Beer on Tap (I don't partake) Sodas, Water Tea and Lemonade round out the choices. All in all I have continued to patronize this Business. Price Point and proximity to Pasadena it will continue to be a Dining option! Check out Max City! You will not be disappointed!

Small place, but it makes up for its size with the food and service. Service was excellent. Very friendly staff. Baby backs were huge, flavorful, moist, and just the right amount of smoke and sauce. Mac and cheese was just right. Corn bread was very good. Get here early because the popular sides sell out. We will be back.

One of the best bbq! Got the "weaknees" which was a variety platter and it was perfect for 2 people. Everything (especially the St Louis ribs, brisket, and corn bread) was delicious!! Staff was friendly and helpful. Very nice rustic setting with clean restrooms. Would eat here again. Highly recommended.

Great BBQ spot. I tried the half rack St. Louis Ribs, baked beans and cornbread. It's amazing. I only ate two ribs and I was full. If you around the Eagle Rock/ Glasell Park neighbor check them out.

Very satisfied with this BBQ place. Being from the Midwest, we have a specific taste in BBQ. I'm glad I found this place because they remind me of home a bit. It's a cosy-small venue, with a few parking spaces in the lot and a lot of residential parking. We had the greens, corn bread and ribs. I have no complaints. The beer is better than the house wine, though. And the service was so friendly. Our waitress called everyone "luv"- even more like a feeling of home.
