Got Frutti de Mar. Sauce a bit thicker than I anticipated, but with excellent flavor. Not too much tomato bite, not too herby, not too spicy hot, plenty of shellfish and calamari. Very good bread. Excellent balsamic vinegar. Great Manhattan as well. Beautiful surroundings, professional servers. I only wish my wife could be with me.

My wife and I went there in 2015 with my uncle and his husband, and several of their friends who know Tanino personally. We were treated to some of the best Italian we’ve ever had. We still talk about the pasta dish Tanino himself whipped up, it was amazing. Excellent place, excellent food, amazing staff and def would go back if we were ever in LA again. Yeah, it’s cramped, but have you ever walked in Italy? It’s cramped there too.

What a great place. The food, drink and atmosphere is wonderful. But Melani was the best. My son had just had open heart surgery. I was tired and upset. I stopped for a bite. She was so kind. She turned my whole evening around. Thank you so much.

Our neighborhood go to for great Italian when we are in Westwood. The staff is very professional and really well trained. The wine list is great and reasonable. The pastas are made fresh daily. We love the carbinara pasta. Tri color salad with toasted almonds is great and the minnestroni soup fantastic. We shared the lamb chops which were cooked perfectly. Can't go wrong here!

Very good food and attentive, although imperfect service. The decor is very nice and upscale although the tables are kind of small. My group had the calamari and a crab cake salad special to start. The calamari was very good. We'll beyond typical flash fried restaurant variety, with a unique and spicy sauce almost like a mustard in color. The calamari wasn't the best ever, it's not like the stuff they have straight from the fish market at Parm in New York City, but good. The crab cakes were less impressive; small pucks of squishy crab meat with mixed greens and a light dressing. Fine but not amazing. Main course was also a special, the osso bucco lamb shank with red sauce over a risotto or chunky polenta. Very good. Extremely tender, fall off the bone meat in a hearty portion. My only complaint is that the meat was less marbled and more covered in thin layers of sinewy fat that were sometimes too stringy or plasticky. The service worked hard and were nice but there were some weird misses from a place that seems to put out a very high class vibe. E.g., "Okay Boss, finito?" when asking if he could take my plate. I appreciate the Italian attempt but it doesn't really work with the random American slang. The reading of the specials menu also could have been clearer. It was read at high speed and without much care for personal flair or explanation, despite the fact that we were the first customers in the restaurant. We brought our own wine but the glasses were high quality. Corkage $20 per bottle. Decor was fancy Italian with faux earthen type walls. Tuscan style I guess? Anyways, it feels nice, but it's also a bit too crowded with decoration at the same time and pretty compact once they seat many people. Overall solid upscale Italian. Would go again and enjoy the food. Hopefully their other dishes are consistent with our experience.

A gorgeous and superior Italian restaurant. Great service, top notch food and drinks and worth the extra expense. (About $45 a person, not including drinks.) Great wine list, and excellent full bar.

Decent Italian food in the heart of Westwood. Great daily specials. Attentive wait staff and some excellent preparations. Salads are tasty and the pasta al dente. a winner for good quality food at a reasonable price.

Food is very good. Classic italian cooking. Service is good. Decor is a bit dated and could use to be updated. Prices are very reasonable.
