Bulan Thai remains to be my favorite restaurant in LA and we make sure to go there every time we are in town. Every dish we have tried is incredible! The combination of fresh vegetables, exquisite sauces, and coconut or jasmine rice, make for a fantastic meal! Our group of four agreed that it was all very delicious. You can always find multiple gluten free options and the prices are good.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants when I am in L.A. Great food for an affordable price which is ideal for a college student such as my friends and me. I come in with an empty stomach and a full wallet and leave with a full stomach and a still full wallet (though I do splurge here at times when I am truly starving). My personal favorite is the Kua Gai noodles (essentially Pad See Ew noodles cooked at a higher heat). The Thai Iced Tea is brewed there and it is always the right amount of sweet. The service is amazing; even before I started making Bulan a weekly stop, I was always treated with genuine friendliness and respect. You do not have to be a vegetarian to enjoy the food of Bulan Thai Vegetarian.
This is the great restaurant, I try many Thai restaurants and honestly, this vegetarian restaurant is much better than others. Servers are polite, friendly and fun. My favourite is Inferno chicken, Soy Fish and eggplant with red curry, if you like spicy. Try coconut rice and pumkin rice...so good!!!
Flavorful, fresh, vegan! The food was 5-Star. The Service was 5-Star. Our favorite was the chicken wings (veg based chicken) but all three appetizers and all three entrees were excellent.
The food and the service was amazing. Thanks again for a great dinner experience.

The food is so AMAZING! I love the Hot Wings and Garlic Pepper "chicken"
Best panang curry OF MY LIFE! Veggie chicken was really great texture too. I'm in love!
First rate! A great find! 2 thumbs up on EVERY dish we ordered. ...All 5 of them!
We'll be back
Love the pineapple fried rice!!
The food was amazing. Everything we tried was incredible and the flavours were so unique and distinct. Recommend the green curry and the Drunken Noodles. 10/10 would come again.
Beyond impressive! I’ve had this restaurant on my “want to go list” for a long time. Glad to be in LA and able to eat here.
Sitting on the porch, we instantly felt comfortable. Nat the owner was very warm and helpful. She suggested a few dishes that were great! We will return.
The vegan dishes here are beyond belief when it comes to being delicious!!! I have to recommend the wings and definitely the inferno chicken. Service is grade A along with the atmosphere. The owner is very humble and nice. I cant believe this food is vegan..its that close to the real thing!!!
Love that everything was vegetarian or vegan here. The location is in a cool / hip area with indoor or outdoor seating. We got the grilled dumplings for an appetizer. For entrees we got the orange “chicken” and Inferno “chicken.” I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
THAI FOOD x VEGGIE
Immerse in amazing veggie concept and authentic Thai hospitality at Bulan with NO meat • NO m.s.g. • NO trans fats !!
They serve such wonderful Thai dishes that uses delicious imitated meat and fresh vegetables. I didn’t feel like lacking meat in any dish at all so if you’re a meat eater then rest assure.
Some wholesome recommendations below
——————∞——————
Hot wings: Tender wings in hot sauce, super tender that I cried with tears of joy
Inferno chicken: SPICY & sweet, fried with crispy basil
Khao soi: Famous Northern Thai dish but deliciously made the veggie way
Khao man gai: MY FAV ITEM OF THE DAY - it feels like real chicken rice (gai = chicken)
Pla pad prik: OMG this was like real fish (pla = fish) and I LOVE the eggplants here so much
Thai tea: Choose your alternate milk and enjoy fantastic Thai tea

Parking: Don’t go up Manzanita St behind the restaurant because it’s permit parking only. Instead, turn left downhill onto Gateway Ave and you can find plenty of FREE street parking there.

Made a reservation for date night on a Friday and had a great time! We got the veggie chicken and veggie duck and we’re happily surprised at how great it tasted. The service was lovely and our waitress gave us great recommendations. Definitely recommend eating here if you’re vegan!
Update: This is my 7th time here and I don’t know what I do would do in LA without this piece of heaven. I swear angels work in the kitchen here 😆
Woah! Trust me when I tell you THIS is the place! My new favorite Thai restaurant in LA. Great from start to finish.
Everything we ordered was delicious from start to finish, generous portions, and I will definitely be back for all the food I didn’t get to this time 😆
You won't regret it. I eat here often and you'll find me shoving heaping chopsticks full of food in my mouth. Absolute best, their vegan dishes are top tier. I suggest their Hot Wings(1-2 person per order) for a starter and Eggplant Lovers (2-3 persons) with Coconut Rice (1-2 persons) for a main dish. Beverage, iced Thai Tea. Everything is made fresh per order.
During the shelter at home mandate, we decided it would be nice to try doing takeout once a week (lets us try new places despite being stuck at home while supporting small business through such a rough time). We were super excited to try Bulan Thai Vegetarian out - we especially loved khao soi when we traveled in Vietnam and immediately knew we were going to order that. We also ordered hot wings & Spicy Coconut Noodles Soup.
The delivery was quick and we appreciated the reusable and recyclable materials. We didn't quite gather that they put all of the noodles in one container, though, so we ended up putting the khao soi sauce over all of the noodles before realizing we were meant to split them with the coconut soup... we spent a fair amount of time straining and reorganizing and plating it all so it was just right. While I get why they packaged them together, it would've been nice if they labeled the box so it was clear what each piece was for.
The food itself was tasty. We wish we had ordered a higher spice level (we went for spicy) but were able to kick things up with our own hot sauce.
Would order from here again sometime or, better yet, try to dine in once we can do so again!
One of my favorite restaurants in LA! The food always hits!! It’s just too good you have to try it for yourself. Nothing is disappointing, each item on the menu is unique and mouthwatering.
