Ropa Vieja, plantains and their mojitos are solid. Live music is always a plus as well as their atmosphere. Definitely recommend this restaurant
They got rid of my favorite tapa...ceviché...I’m soooo sad! 😢 they also got rid of some other of my favorite dishes, like the entree for two that had the roasted chicken!
Delicious!! The service was great- friendly and speedy, and the food was so flavorful. This was my first Cuban food experience, but my husband loves Cuban and has eaten it many times. He said this food was as good as the food he had from our Cuban in-laws.
The food was great. I ordered masitas de puerco and my wife ordered the sample plate. My kids ordered rice and pork and they love it. We met a Venezuelan waitress and she was super nice to explain the food to my wife.
I have been meaning to try this place for a good while, a friend invited me out to dine with him here and I'm glad I went. The place was pretty full, so the atmosphere was a bit loud and hectic for my tastes, but not unbearably so. The staff and decor were both fine. My friend had the lechon which was very tasty and I tried the chicken empanadas. They were very well prepared, but seasoned in a way I'm unused to. Not hot & spicy, just something I could not quite place. Never the less they were quite tasty. We also split an order of calimari, which were also perfectly cooked.
So if you are in the St. Mathew's area and in the mood for some Cuban grub, you can feel good about getting a fix here.
Outstanding food and atmosphere! Servers were great and gave good reccomedations. I expect this type of service from more expensive restaurants.
Yenisey, our wonderful waitress, was attentive, friendly, and always has a smile. We were quickly greeted with two glasses of water, greatly appreciated. I ordered their Masas de Puerco. The pork was crispy on the outside while juicy and tender on the inside. My wife ordered their Cubano Sandwich. The sandwich usually comes with Swiss cheese but was substituted with Provilone. Personally, I think Provilone enhances the sandwich's taste. Yenisey was also mindful of food allergies. Thank you so much Havana Rumba!
One of my favorite places to eat in Louisville and I eat out a lot! I start off with the papas rellenas (mashed potato balls with seasoned meat, deep fried) which are outstanding. Then I order a Cubano or Havana Rumba sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries.......pure heaven :)
Excellent Cuban pork with matching sides. Big portions. Extensive dessert options. Highly recommended anytime you are hungry in Louisville.
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Louisville. Every single time I have been here the service is incredible, friendly, fast and spot on... The food.... Man...it is full of flavor and never less than perfect. I almost always get the Vaca Fritas and a mojito. Their mojitos are the best I've had in town! EAT HERE! You will be HOOKED I promise!
Totally different type food than I expected but was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it and had a margarita as well. Make sure you have a ride home if you plan on drinking more than one. Service was good and the food had plenty of flavor and there was plenty of leftovers!
This is the smaller of the two locations, so there is usually a wait. Regardless, delicious food! The Caesar salad is worth phoning home about! What I truly love, though, are the empanadas and black beans and rice. Quality ingredients carefully prepared make for a delicious meal every single time!
Went here for my birthday back in March. The margaritas were really good. I also really enjoy the guacamole here! Food is good and a little different than traditional Mexican. I will definitely be back!
Came from Cinci. The best Cuban food for states around! I'm from Florida, I should be able to validly use that as a comment. All the chicken and pork dishes were fantastic, our waiter was great, and the whole experience is something the entire family wants to repeat! Especially the tees leches cake!
I ate here about a week ago and the food is absolutely amazing. I will definitely go back soon!!
Great!. The food is great and the margarita ultima is one of the best. The portions are big so go hungry!
Fast Food. Arrived early Friday (5:30). Food as always delicious but have rarely been as rushed by wait staff as we were that night. Hoping to relax. Not able to - table cleared without being asked. Out of there by 6:15.
SOOOO Good !. This is one of my most favorite to dine, I always get the same dish though, Pescado ala Parilla (I think that's how you spell it.) The service is really good too, there was one time for my birthday my food came out fairly late, everybody in my party had their meals before mine but they comp my meal! I guess because I go so often, or just courtesy. I'm not the one to complain honestly since I've been in the restaurant business practically all my life, so I understand. But other than that the staff is amazing and the food is to die for!
I was here in May and ahh!!! Delicious Cuban food!! Complete surprise to have found this place but it was so good i would say try the pescado de parrilla but everything is amazing! The fried plantains are addictive!!
Have been many times and everytime only gets better! Love love love this place! Great food and super nice staff!!! A must try place for sure!!! Your taste buds will thank you later!!!
Awesome...love, love, love it. I loved this place. It has a great atmosphere. The place was very very clean. I wish they had more bathrooms but the bathrooms were super clean and orderly. The staff was very very nice and helpful. The food is very affordable. I went with five people and we drank and ate and my bill was under $100.00. That rocks. Keep doing what you are doing HRumba. Also the server was so nice to our children and very ready to make any accomodations early we needed for the kids. That is very nice and makes us feel very comfortable bringing our kids out. We felt extremely welcome. I also love Mojitos...but the St. Mathews HR rocks.
Delicioso! Try the ropa vieja or the flank steak. The cuban sandwich is also really good.
Vegetarian Cuban Food?. Who says you have to add to make beans taste good. Havana Rumba has some great vegetarian options on their menu. The veggie cuban sandwhich on the lunch menu is my favorite! They also have a great drink menu.
Really an enjoyable experience. Fried plantains were excellent. Cuban sandwich was tasty. I've had better but very good. Overall a solid venue. Would go back if I lived here!
Recent obsession of mine. I had heard about Havana Rumba for a year or two before I actually visited. Absolutely love the food. I got a Mohito (best I've had) and a pork sandwhich with mojo sauce that was delicious. Needless to say, I'm a big fan!
Good portions, good service. The beans had too much cumin for my taste . The vaca frita was tasty but not authentic .
5/5. Great selection of Cuban foods and drinks. Lovely atmosphere.
Was amazing!! Truly a gem!! Loved the food!!
Fantastic Food. The food is perfectly prepared, fresh, and loaded with flavor. The portiions are extremely generous for the pricing. I have finickey eaters that went away from the experience very satisfied. We look forward to visiting Havana Rumba again in the very near future, and hope to save room to try a desert.
I would recommend the empanadas, and the Polo Asado. Bring your appetite with the Polo Asado, it is 1/2 a chicken! The flavor from the marinade is tasted all the way to the bones. It's amazing! Also, do yourself a favor and get the mixed vegetables as a side if rice and black beans are not a must, because it too was outstanding.
Great food. We went here for lunch. The food was amazing, authentic and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was wonderful and the restaurant was very clean. The service was quick and courteous. However, our waiter had an extreme body odor problem which was quite gross when he came to our table. Seriously, it was very noticeable and literally nauseating. If it hadn't been for his B.O. it would have been a completely fabulous experience.
Valentine's Dinner. We spent a lot less than I thought we would! They had valentine specials with half price drinks and a free appetizer with two entrees. We got the sampler app - the empanda was so good. The mashed potato ball was weird but tasty. Loved my Margarita and the pork. My husband had the shredded steak and liked it a lot. The service was friendly and fast. We both took home leftovers even though it was delicious. A great place!

Great Food. All the people I work with at Universal Linen were raving about Havana Rumba and how great the food is, so I tried it...and they were 100% right. The food is amazing and they do a great job of taking care of their customers. I will be going there again very soon.
Addictive!. We live about an hour away and visit every time we get within 30 minutes! Our favorite dish is the Masas de Puerco. The meat will just melt in your mouth. Go for the Cuban Sampler appetizer if you haven't been before, everything we have tried has been excellent and perfectly seasoned. The Congris is super tasty and I'm not usually a fan of beans and rice but I love these. I can't vouch for the desserts, I've never had room left to try them.

Food is great. Drinks even better. Guava margarita is to die for.
I love this place! I am Cuban and can tell you that the cuisine is authentic. I have never had a bad meal, everything is delicious.
I also enjoy the friendly atmosphere especially my favorite bartender, Marisol. Not only can she make an amazing Mojito, she is very attentive and always in a wonderful mood. My family and I love her!
Our server, Omar, was great. Very knowledgable on menu items. Loved all his recommendations. Can't wait to come back & ask for him.
Chelsie was great. Made the experience wonderful.
Chelsie our waitress was amazing. And the food and atmosphere was great!!
Took a pretty lady out on a date to Havana Rumba. It was my first time there and i would definitely recommend it to friends. Our waiter Omar recommended two great meals. The food was great & the service was amazing. Stop in at Havana Rumba and ask for Omar, you will not be disappointed!
Excellent food. Good service. Highly recommend. Started out with Papas Rellenas and they were delicious. Then I ordered a Churrasco chicken sandwich and my friend got the Havana Rumba. They were both big portions and very flavorful. I'll definitely be going back. The only downside was that the "craft beer" selection was very weak and a little pricey for beer you can find anywhere.
Great taste. Tired of eating all the same foods? try havana rumba you will taste a lot of new interesting things. i love this place. kind of hard to order though and you have to ask several questions to figure out what you might like.
YUM. I finally got the chance to come to this place and man was it worth the drive ! For a friday night i thought it might be crowded so i placed a call ahead "reservation" and we we seated within 5 mins which isn't bad for this trendy spot. We split the cuban sampler and I had the Vaca Frita for my dinner and it was all DELICIOUS! And potions were crazy huge so ill definitely be coming back to this spot
TASTY. Great selection of really enjoyable food. A place to take people of varied interests, everyone will find something to like at this much needed addition to the louisville gastro/foodie scene.
Amazing food and fast service. I frequent at Middletown restaurant where they've recently added a roof to their outdoor deck for outdoor dining! Fab music, drinks, food and service.
Luv Mojitoes and red Sangria not too sweet.
Haven't had anything that wasn't delicious. My favorite is Masas De PUerco that says fried but you'd never know it. Tender morcels you can cut with your fork.
What a great surprise to find this restaurant on our visit to Louisville! My family is Cuban so I am quite picky. The palomilla was excellent as was the ropa vieja. We also had the combo appetizer and the selections were plentiful and delicious! I would recommend a visit to Havana Rumba.
Yum!. Fast, friendly service. The food was very flavorful and filling. Great ambiance.
Lunch. We got here right as the place was opening, and the first ones in. By the time we left, there were several tables filled. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. I had the ropa vieja, which came with white rice, black beans, and plantains. Serving size was plentiful, and the food tasted great. Would definitely recommend this place.
Best Cuban in D'ville. This joint and its sister restaurant Mojito are D'BoMB!
Wonderful experience!. Wife and I ate there for lunch during our anniversary spent in Louisville. We ordered the Tapeo Criollo mixed tapas. It was a 3 tiered selection of indulgence! Every item was delicious! We had ordered a lunch meal to share (Lechon Asado) which turned out to be way too much food for 2 people with the tapas! I ate some of the pork, yucca, and rice. The pork isn't specially seasoned or flavored, it's just amazing pork. We took pretty much all of that home. The service was great, as well as the atmosphere. A+ and can't wait to eat there again.
Muy Bueno!. This is probably my favorite restaurant in town. Food is consistently good, lively atmosphere and very friendly staff. I keep coming back to the Ropa Vieja every time..it's so delicious. My husband loves the Camarones Al Ajillo or the Cuban Sandwich. And if you want an outstanding drink get the margarita with the sangria swirl. (but be prepared to have a DD).
I'll Be Back!. Visited Havana Rumba for the first time last night. I must say, I have never had a tamale that was that tasty! We enjoyed the classic tapas combination platter, the ceviche, and of course a mojito (or two). The chorizo is house made, and delicious! Croquettes, made with serrano ham and chicken, were good. Marinated olives and peppers - yummy! Ceviche needs more flavor, meaning not enough cilantro, spice, or even salt, but still pretty good, served with yummy fried plantains. The only negatives, in my opinion, were the empanadas. My hubby liked them, but I thought the filling was bland and slimey. All in all, a very cool place with excellent food, drinks, and atmosphere!
Good Place to Eat. Great place and great food- unfortunatly we got some old dried out mango cheese cake once; but its usualy really good-
Best most flavorful place u will ever eat and great service!!!!!!!!
AMAZING!!!. My boyfriend and I went to Havana Rumba after he read some of the reviews on UrbanSpoon. It was A GREAT experience - amazing food, delicious drinks, and very accomodating staff! We made reservations for 2:30 on a Sunday - and its a good thing we did; they were busy! I had a chicken dish, he had the pork - DEFINITELY RECOMMEND - you won't be disappointed!
Consistently delicious!. Havana Rumba is one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. They get busy. If you go without a reservation be prepared to wait. The waiting area at the St. Matthews location is very small. However, the food is worth the wait. Everything on the menu is delicious. I cannot even name my favorite dish. The drinks are also wonderful. A must visit.
It was the best. I am a very picky eater about what I am willing to try but out of a suggestion I tried Havana Rumba, Needless to say the staff was wonderful and the food was even better. the food was well priced for the amout you receive.
Havana Yumba!. Love the food, and very large portions for lunch. Not an expert on Cuban fair but this seems as authentic as it gets in Louisville. Delicious!
Definitely check it out. The food was very yummy, service was great. I've been twice and each time I wasn't disappointed. On my second visited I double-dated and each of us got a different mixed drink. We all shared and taste-tested and all were excellent. Get a group of friends together and check it out!
I would never imagined that this was here, great Cuban food in Louisville! There were 4 of us and we just finished 12 hours of work and bike racing. We filled up on Tapas and left more than happy for less than 70$. Great fun but you better call and get a reservation, it's really busy and you will have at least a 30 min wait. Enjoy!
One of the best. I just love this one chicken dish, Fricase de pollo! The portion is so big too, I take the left overs home with me and eat it next day.
Hector is awesome! Their performance is flawless. No complaints Ever when I eat there.
So good! Try the Havana Resort Tea yummy!
Been Going for Years and Keep Going Back. Staff is very nice and selection is amazing. Started eating at the original location when it was a third of the size and keep coming back. Food quality is always perfect and huge porions for the price. A great place to dine and chat. It can get loud when it is busy but it is loud with excitement. A perfect place to take out of town guests.
Havana Yum-Yum!!. Love it, have been many times to both locations for lunch and dinner. My favorites the Cubano with Boniato Frito, Congri and Flourless Chocolate Macaroon Cake.
A novel experience. In terms of Louisville dining experiences, this was novel to me. The Cuban food is delicious (not spicy as most Latino food is generally assumed to be). The mojitos are delicious, but I wish they weren't such a pain on my wallet.
Great!. I love this place. I've been many times since they opened. The food is always consistent, delicious, and served with very generous portions. The service is always very good. The Lime Margarita is great and the Spanish Ensalada is out of this world. Very reasonably priced! Keep it up Havana Rumba!
Amazing!. First time eating cuban food in general so followed the advice on urbanspoon and went to havana rumba. it was from start to finish amazing. I went with 2 friends and we all ordered different foods and everything was great. one of the best meals I have ever eaten only advice is get there early to avoid to line out the door
A date night favorite!. My wife and I love going to Havana Rumba for date nights. The entrees are moderately priced and the atmosphere is great. Some nights they even have some light live music in the background. The desserts are amazing as well. All of the staff are friendly and most seem to have Cuban heritage, which makes it feel all the more authentic. I usually get the Havana Rumba sandwich, which comes with honey dipping sauce, and my wife loves their fried plantains (the best she's ever had).
Amazing!. This place is definitely in my top three favorite restaurants in town. Several excellent dishes, fun and saucy Havana atmosphere, very tasty specialty drinks and efficient staff. I have eaten here multiple times and have never been let down. I've tried several dishes, but my favorite is definitely the steak Chimichurri (skirt steak with Chimichurri sauce, black bean soup, rice and plantains that i substitute for sweet potato fries). The mojito martini is very yummy and the best bang for your buck. You'll love the music and decor: bright colors, upbeat vibrant music and dim lighting makes it very inviting. The only downside is that there will be a wait on weekend nights.
Seriously good food! Loved the atmosphere. Great service. The restaurant is small and really busy but that didn't keep us from enjoying ourselves!
Camarones al Ajillo. Was very good, Shrimp and garlic how can you go wrong.
Yum!. Keeps getting better and better!
Best Pork ANYWHERE this side of Cuba!. The masas de puerco was simply perfect, it is pork at its best. The atmosphere in my opinion is uncomfortable, tables are too close together and the seats are uncomfortable. The service was below average but not awful. All that being said, I would put up with worse atmosphere AND service just to taste that pork again.
Always Delivers. After the umpteenth visit to one of our family's favorite restaurants (since the girls were little) we continue to be pleased. Great food, lively atmosphere and consistent service despite a typically packed house.
I would have given this place 5 stars except for the host was not very friendly and hospitable when we came in. He seemed put out that we wanted to wait for a table. Food, as always, was delicious and our server was good. Music was extremely loud so it was hard to hold a conversation.
As a Cuban, this is my favorite restaurant in Louisville. I have been here several times and it’s always good and consistent. I’ve taken several American coworkers here and they all leave with a good impression. Saturdays are my favorite because of the live music. On my last visit I had a a couple of passion fruit-mango mojito that were amazing! Highly recommend their camarones al ajillo and all Pork and Beef dishes.

A spectacular restaurant, incredible food and service. I love this place.
Service was a little slow. The food was great. The atmosphere is very nice. Love what they are doing outside. It's going to be very nice when the outside seating is done.
Nice place larger than it appears. There's parking in a back lot behind the place, which we didn't know. No wait and service was quick. Everything we ordered was excellent. The flat bread was a creative fusion dish. The soup was really good too. We also ordered the combo appetizer dish, also very good. The banana dessert was insanely good and memorable. Highly recommend this place for ambiance, service and food.
My fiancé and I love to eat here, so much so that we’ve been going pretty much every weekend for the past two months. And they never miss, service is phenomenal and food is amazing every single time. Even on busy Saturday evenings, service is pretty swift. We also love the environment and the live music. I can tell the staff works as a team to keep things running smoothly. I’ll keep going back as this has become our favorite spot.
The food is good. It is not spicy. My recommendation is the Ropa Vieja. It was my first time with the mojito and was too strong for me, but my husband loved it. I'm Mexican, so I prefer some spicy in the food.. I took the pork (puerco asado) to go and I added more onion, habanero and lemon at home 😂.. my favorite side: plantains fried 🤩
We had a wonderful experience with our family of 6. We have kids 9,7,5.2. The kids meal had lots of options- traditional and Cuban. The portions were filling for my 9 year old and we loved it came with fruit and fries.
My husband had the steak chimichurri and I had a salad with grilled chicken. We got a side of yuca fritas. The hostess and servers were so friendly and the service was very quick. The food was fresh and yummy. The kids tenders were made with fresh chicken which we think is amazing. There was live Cuban music and the atmosphere was fun, friendly and inviting. A wonderful restaurant we will be back on our next visit to Louisville.
The staff was super friendly and for that reason alone I'd go back. Sat down to eat Tapas... These tapas are really lunch portions lol. We ordered way too much food. For the most part the food was great, a few bites were just ok. Overall good spot for a bite to eat
Such a great place! Love the open concept on a nice day. Food is great and it's easy to eat light.
I am a traveler. Thought I would try something different tonight, so glad I did. In all my travels I never ate Cuban. Boy was I missing out on a great part of life. The staff at Havana Rumba was amazing and dedicated to quality service. Elizabeth was awesome and recommended an awesome meal. Please check out my pictures. I will be back next time in town. And now marked as a favourite on my google maps.
Loved the food! It was super busy and a little loud when we went, but they seated us quickly, our waitress was super nice (and bilingual), and most importantly, the food was delicious and plentiful (we ate seconds for lunch the next day). Our plates were $18 each, but with drinks and tax, the cost went into the next range, but you could do it for less if you wanted to.
Could not ask for a better experience. Excellent service. Amazing food and such a fun atmosphere. We will definitely have to make a trip back for here!
Y'all know that we love Cuban food and Mojito in Havanna is now in the top 2! The Ropa Vieja melted in our mouths. The Congri Rice...lord, it was a flavor explosion with cumin! I had Masas de Puerco, fried chunks of pork with pickled red onions & chimichurri sauce. Absolutely delicious! Try the Cuban Sampler for an appetizer. We can't wait to come back.
I loved everything about this restaurant. The entertainment for the evening was so good. He was singing all types of music. It was a perfect place to dine with a group of 12.
Yuca fries were delicious! Fun vibe and fun restaurant! Cuban music playing ! Colorful decor !
We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday. Sadly, we didn’t take any pictures. We ordered:
Tostones con pollo for appetizer.
Vaca frita for entree.
House salad.
The staff was very welcoming and the food was so good. I suggest asking for the house hot-sauce. 100% better than anything in a jar and it gives it a more authentic flavor that store bought. We live in Lexington and 100% will be back.
Great date spot..small plate options to share and try a few things. We tried the crocquetas and tostada's Good drinks. We had mojitos and margaritas. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly service. Easy parking, am located in a strip mall.
Absolutely amazing food and drinks. I really wanted to give 5 stars but our server wasn't very attentive. We had to ask another server to locate her for us...
