Reviews Saffron's Restaurant

We love middle eastern food and had yet to check Saffron's out. Decided to try it on a Sunday. It was easy to get to with both metered street parking and non-metered parking behind the building available. It had customers but wasn't packed so we got a table right away which was nice. The waiter was friendly, helpful and efficient. He brought a complimentary palette cleansing plate of greens, radish, cucumber and feta to the table along with a thin tearable bread. Some restaurants have menus that go on forever ... Saffron's has a nice variety without being overwhelming. We ordered two appetizers the chilled spinach one and the quail one. The spinach one was good the quail one was great. For the main course for different dishes were ordered; chicken & ground beef kebabs, filet & ground beef kebabs, seafood stew and a spinach beef dish. All came with either jasmine or basmati rice, grilled veggies, and a middle eastern salad. The dishes were artfully arranged and a delight to eat! We all shared around the table and it was all wonderful. The chicken kebabs with Persian spices was flavorful and tender. The seafood stew was a delicate balance of spices that still allowed the seafood itself to be tasted. The two beef dishes were tender and tasty. We ordered all three desserts and though I'm personally not a big fan of chocolate, ice cream or baklava they were all very good. You can just catch hints of the rose water and saffron in the ice cream. The baklava isn't too sweet like I find it is at most places. The chocolate bomb is delicate, rich but again not to sweet like I find it at most places. Saffron's is a restaurant I'd like to go back to and continue to explore the menu. Oh, and either there wasn't music playing in the backrooms or it was at a volume where it didn't intrude on our conversation ... which is a huge plus!

Had a very nice Mother’s Day lunch here this afternoon. The staff was quite pleasant and the drinks were quite good, recommend the Bloody Mary and Turkish Coffee (even the Carrot Juice was tasty). Enjoyed a selection of kabobs, vegetarian stews and lamb chops. The lamb was cooked very well and the pomegranate/walnut stew was incredibly tasty but missed something in the way finishing off the flavor. Baklava was very tasty and I would recommend the ice cream which was infused with saffron, rose and pistachio for a way to complete your meal. Was quite hungry when the food came so I forgot to snap a few pics but the others in here are very true to the quality of the meal. Enjoy this place a lot and hope to be back soon!

The food is great but the desserts are truly excellent. The homemade ice cream and the baklava should not be missed! The atmosphere is casual, the prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly, and the food is delicious.

This restaurant had a nice atmosphere and great food. The waitress was friendly and sociable. The appetizers could be kicked up a couple notches it felt like it was an after thought. Overall enjoyed it and will definitely be back again.

I am ashamed I never reviewed this gift to downtown Louisville before. Saffron's has an unassuming exterior and you've probably passed it lots of times without knowing it but read this review and immediately proceed there if you're looking for great food and are searching downtown. The interior is extremely welcoming, the mood is relaxed, and the service is impeccable. You may have a small wait for the food, enjoy yourself with company, sipping wine, Persian coffee, a cocktail, or just water, while enjoying the complimentary vegetables and pita bread, until your food arrives. It is completely worth any insignificant wait. The food is simply amazing- it has to be experienced, words cannot do it justice. Be sure to compliment the chef, he is a humble and kind man who does amazing work and deserves every compliment.

Nice quiet restaurant with fantastically made food. Clean dining area and more importantly clean kitchen. We had never had Persian food before, but it seemed a lot like Mediterranean cuisine. I wasn’t super hungry and got the quail appetizer that was superb, and my husband ordered the beef stew which he loved. Allen was an extremely friendly waiter who told us stories about the paintings and provided excellent service. Please check it out

Amazing ambience and authentic Persian cuisine. Saffron ice cream is a must try if you want to know what authentic means.

Food was great overall. Meat was only very slightly on the chewy side. I'd give an extra half star if I could. Otherwise this place had great service and food to match.

Food was so good I didn’t think to take a picture until it was gone. Service was ok. Food came out quickly, but waited forever to get a bill.

This was the best meal I had in Louisville. The flavors really popped for me. Loved the cucumber 😍 relish that came with the meal. The beef kabobs were so savory and delicious. The owner was in and was kind enough to stop and chat with us. He had an amazing story ❤️ which made the dining experience even better than l expected. It was really close to the convention center, I would definitely recommend going for a great lunch if you are anywhere near the restaurant.

Came to have family dinner and try something new while in Ky, and we made a great choice. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The other part was pictures you see online might not be on the menu, but always ask. The rack of lamb was really good. This restaurant reminded me of of Rafis in Glendale California. Definitely will be back.
