Great service & very knowledgeable server! She answered all our questions & described everything very well. Blackened salmon & greens were amazing! Side salad could use more toppings, the tomato dressing was very good! Great size kids portion of the pork sandwich & Lima beans. Only one option of BBQ sauce & it is a little on the spicy side. Would go back!
Fantastic southern food in an adorable restaurant in the heart of downtown Louisville. A friend and I traveled from Michigan on a whim and stumbled into this place and were absolutely delighted! We have made cracks about returning to Louisville just for the food after this experience. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed. We had the fried tilapia platter wit hush puppies, fired okra, and braised greens. Everything was so delicious, we went back for dessert later.
Came in with a buddy, both of us from out of town. Great atmosphere and people watching from window booths. Started with the peel and eat shrimp which were great. Nice size and great seasonings! Moved on the the smokehouse sampler with ribs, brisket, and pork. The baby back ribs were phenomenal. Perfectly fall off the bone, and the dry rub was addictive. The brisket and pulled pork were also good but the ribs take the cake. For sides I had the baked beans, cheddar grits, and cornbread. The cornbread was perfect and I’ve never had better cheddar grits, super creamy, tender and well seasoned. I would def return for the ribs, grits, and cornbread.
First time in Louisville. This place is amazing, for a starter we got the beer cheese and chips, it was delicious. For the main meal got the smoker sampler, it was unreal. By far best ribs I have ever had. I live in Michigan and would drive back just to eat here again. Atmosphere was good, the space was a lot larger than I had anticipated. All in all great experience would highly recommend to anyone who is in the area.
Omg. Had shrimp app hot, house salad and pulled pork sand. All fantastic and would order exactly the same again. Ribs also stellar!!! Need to figure out the ice cubes in there drinks. My Bluegoose soda was so water down from the melted ice not worth it.
Over-the-top food is always easy to like, and seeing how this spot has quickly established itself as a southern food destination in the middle of the city.
Went here with colleagues today. The order was taken within minutes after we sat down which was nice. Mint Julep with pomegranate juice was yum! I ordered the Catfish platter. It was like fish and chips, but catfish. The fish was delicious. My friends too a bunch of other things. The coleslaw was terrible though. I like the ambience ✌️
I had a very good experience. The service was really good, the food was but not amazing. I order ribs, and there were a little dried, not much juice on the meat.
So I'm not the biggest expert on southern food and BBQ so can't even confirm if this qualifies but I do know that this place was amazing. there were excellent BBQ choices served in the most unpretentious way. The way that this place is packed constantly is a testament to how good the food is. Add to that their amazing selection of Bourbons and other southern staples.
I was thoroughy impressed with this place and will be back if I'm ever in Louisville again.
Great beer rotation selection. House salad was delicious, which is odd for a smokehouse. BBQ sauce a bit too spicy for my taste. Everything meat-wise smelled great!
So so good. I had a brisket on a bun with baked mac and cheese and I was in heaven. I will return to KY for this!! Server was very nice as well and the atmosphere was great!
The building and decor are top notch. Wish I could say the same for the BBQ. It's by no means bad it's just alright. There are dozens of good BBQ places in Louisville. Go to Doc Crows for the ambiance and amazing drink menu. If you want excellent drink options this is the place. The BBQ is good just not the equal of FABD or Feast.
Great food, Menu looks amazing. Awesome and friendly service! The bar staff was nice, friendly and had recommendations for everything! We sat at the bar, which was a comfortable place to eat. We started with the Rockefeller oyster
which was fantastic and then had the Docs Chicken that was equally delicious, melted in your mouth and my husband had Salmon. Would definitely go back.
I have been here several times and it has always been delicious. The last time I was here I had the rib tip po boy and it was great. Rib tips, Cole slaw,
Spicy barbecue sauce, pickles and onions, can't go wrong. Their heap'n chips appetizer is huge so split with a group of 4+ but is also really good. The chips that come with sandwiches are like house made grippos and very tasty. Great bourbon selection and drink menu. Service has always been very good, always a good idea for dinner if you're in the downtown dinner.
Atmosphere is chic and quite nice. Service was very friendly. I sat at the bar, which was a comfortable place to eat (which it isn't at some establishments). I started with the seafood gumbo, which was fantastic and then had the fried catfish po'boy. The catfish was delicious, melted in your mouth. Would definitely go back.
Good fare, cold drinks and solid service. It can get very crowded if there's anything going on downtown--so get a reservation. Love the oysters, shrimp and grits, and barbecue selections.
Doc Crow's is dangerously delicious! My father and I recently ate here before a concert, and we were very impressed.
Tasty sweet tea, an amazing renovated space in historic Whiskey Row, and diligent and friendly service. For our appetizer, we ordered the Heap'n Chips (made-in-house potato chips topped with melted cheddar, BBQ sauce, pico de gallo, sour cream, pickled jalapeños and beef brisket and pulled pork) - a generous portion of chips and toppings that is extremely filling and a great way to kick off your meal.
For our entrees, we both ordered the Fried Catfish Po-Boy (fresh and perfectly prepared catfish, lightly battered and well-seasoned; lettuce, tomatoes, remoulade on Louisiana French bread); served with hand-cut sweet potato fries and lightly breaded onion rings.
I have previously ordered the pulled pork sandwich (slow smoked pork shoulder with pickles and tobacco onions) and the southern fried pork sandwich (boneless pork chop with lettuce, tomatoes, and remoulade on a brioche bun), both of which were outstanding sandwiches.
One of our favorite spots in downtown Louisville.
One of my favorites. Love the mussels! Cool atmosphere and excellent food. Conveniently located in downtown Louisville, close to several hotels.
There's not much bad to say about this establishment, if any. We had the wedge salad, fried green tomatoes, pulled pork tacos, mac n cheese, and the pulled pork supper. It was all fantasic. I felt the portions were a good size for the price and location. We also enjoyed the Country Boy Cougar Bait and on tap. We sat at the bar and conversed with the bartender (Karie with a "K") and some out of town folks from Savanah, Georgia and New York. They had a Bourbon cocktail hand crafted from one of the bartenders that they really enjoyed. Another gentlemen sitting next to us had the pecan pie for dessert and said it was great. The atmosphere was excellent. I will definately be returning for some great food, excellent cocktails/beers, and enjoyable bar staff.
Great food, great service. I had not been to Doc Crow's before, nor had I heard of it. I was pleasantly surprised by the upscale nature of the restaurant. The food and service were both outstanding.
My favorite place to eat in Louisville. Order up some oysters, a stiff bourbon drink. Then order the smokehouse sampler and get it on!!! So good.
We ate at Doc's last night. Service (Hayden) was over the top good and the food was amazing. Had Doc's Chicken and it was the best smoked chicken I ever had - so juicy and flavorful didn't need sauce. Loved the hush puppies and pulled pork, chips and Mac & Cheese.
Loved the pulled pork and beer list. I've heard mixed things, it may depend on what you order, but I loved the pulled pork. The onion rings I got as a side were okay. My girlfriend enjoyed the ribs, the location is great if you're doing something downtown, but not so much if you have no reason to be in the area. Prices were fair, service was just okay.
Bread Pudding do die for!. I had the Shrimp and Grits and it was magnificent. Very generous portion at a good price. The shrimp were fresh and the andouille was just right spicy. Did I mention the bread pudding? Wow! The apex of decadence. Great server as well. Loved it!
I finally went to this place and it was great! We had the brisket tacos as an appetizer and I'd go back just to eat those.
Fun atmosphere, yummy food. I always love this place when I go. The atmosphere is great, the servers are obliging and everything I've ordered is delicious. Try the rockafeller or the smokehouse mussels. Both are fabulous.
Wow! This place is wonderful!! My husband and I checked it out last night and at first ordered the seasoned fried oysters and they were out of this world! They were so fresh and the crispy coating over the oysters was fantastic! We then split the smokehouse sampler with pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs and beef brisket. Everything was moist, full of flavor and delicious! We ordered two sides, Lima beans and collared greens...both were really good. Then we finished our dinner with an oyster shooter...wow! Kind of like a lemony Bloody Mary with a fresh oyster...really on point! We are already planning our next visit to Doc Crows!! What a treat :)

Had a good experience at Doc Crows. Great server and food was good. Atmosphere was good but really loud.
My new Louisville Favorite!. Great atmosphere, Great Staff. Great Food. We had no idea how popular this place was so I would recommend planning ahead and making a reservation. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, but it was not problem. We were able to sit at the bar and have some great drinks and heap'n chips with Pulled Pork. Casey was our bartender and he had great recommendations on food and drinks. Everything he suggested was AMAZING! By the time we were able to make it to our table and met with our server Mara (who was also AMAZING) we weren't that hungry, but we all shared a sampler and several sides. It was the perfect amount of food. We can't wait to return and try out more of the menu.
Got the portabella/fried green tomato "burger." It was great! The waiter was a little over zealous though- he would refill my water every time I took a sip.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Great environment, unique setting, and tremendous food. Great for a date, a family gathering, or a spot to watch UK/UL at the bar. Love their chicken wings, some of the best in town. Their brisket sandwich is also great!
I travel to Louisville for work a lot. I'm also kind of a food geek. This is my favorite restaurant in town. Eaten here close to 20 times. Service is hit or miss but atmosphere is great and food speaks for itself. I usually order Lima beans, wedge salad and mussels. The combo is like $20. Highly recommended. Filet is also good.

Delicious meal. The ribs were amazing and the house made pork-skins for an appetizer were insane :) Love the place
Great food!. I haven't tried much on their menu because every time my husband and I go, we get the same thing, the brisket taco's. They are to die for! I get the Mac and Cheese and he gets the Sweet Potato Fries and both are AMAZING! The other food looks great but we go there knowing we won't be disappointed. They are pretty quick too!
Don't listen to the bad reviews.... I'm glad I didn't.
I had time to go to one restaurant while I was in Louisville and I am very pleased that Doc's was my choice.
The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was right on, and the bourbon and beer selection was great.
And I don't know if they meant to do it but every person who works there is good looking. Even my boyfriend had a little bro-crush on our server who was super suave and stoic and so eager to talk about the "going-ons" in the Louisville music scene. He knew his beers and brought me a beautiful IPA that I am craving pretty hardcore right now.
Thanks, guys.
I'll be back on my next Louisville visit, for sure.
Still trying to fit in the Bubba burger. Been to Docs a few times and they are always up to par. Service is pretty good and the food is prepared nicely.
Cute ambience and atmosphere. Had the brisket sandwich ( order it extra lean) , and the ribs. Would go back. Service though could have been better, hostess and wait or were a little strange
Pleasant Surprise!. After viewing the ratings on this sight, I almost talked myself out of visiting. Wow, the menu, staff (kudos to Keith), atmosphere and prices will entice me to return. I had the brisket tacos, which were flavorful and memorable. Having said that, the side of limas was the star. Yummmm!!
I Liked It!. I went with my family for a group birthday dinner. Everyone seemed to like it. I loved the atmosphere. I got the roasted chicken with a side of lima beans. I thought it was perfect and the lima beans were delicious! Some of the party split the sampler and they got sides of mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. They said it was delicious and i sides were the perfection of comfort food. The desserts were on the small side, which is my only complaint only because the warm chocolate cake was absolutely delicious. If you are a chocolate lover, this will hit the spot. I would definitely go back.

Amazing!. It's not often that I will say I really like a restaurant's fried green tomatoes, but Doc Crow's are great, and I will definitely be returning for more ASAP!
Good food and bar. Plenty of bourbon to try and the food and service are great!!
All around great experience. The service was attentive, courteous, and patient. The raw oysters where fantastic as was everything else we ate. Love the old building with exposed brick and tons of character.
A group of 5 went on a saturday night the service was good. The staff was patient even though is was close to closing. Drinks are priced in the $5-7 range and food is reasonable as well. All of us were pleased with taste and portions.
I ate there today for lunch. The ribs were unreal. Fall off the bone and done to perfection. The fried okra was out of this world.
Great food!!!
The waitress was cold and lacked any manners or decent serving skills.
Had I not had to "bother" her, I'm sure her day would have been much better.
Besides the lack of service, the meal was outstanding!
Food and service were both excellent tonight. Will definitely go back. All 10 family members at our table were very pleased.
Very impressed!. Very nice experience!! Really well done southern food...Grits, greens, fried green tomatoes, pulled pork, etc...Very good beer selection...Great place for a good, hearty meal...I'm from Alabama so this place has a lot of appeal for me.
Doc Crow's had a good atmosphere inside. I had the St. Louis ribs with onion rings and Texas toast. The ribs were good, but weren't very tender. They had sauce, but I preferred adding more to them. I want to try their poboys on the next visit.
Loved it. I love this place. The drinks were good, the service was good, and the food was good. I'd have a large party here in a heartbeat because the place is huge. I would definitely recommend.
At first looked to be very small place..till you get inside! I made reservations with Urban Spoon. We got there a little early and was seated, great synced it was Saturday night. Our waiter was excellent, good knowledge and very friendly. We started with some oysters which were fresh and tasted great. I had the Texas Brisket and the braised greens. Very nice to say the least, meat was great, greens were very good as well. My wife had the pulled pork and fries. Also great, the seasoned fries were good. Total bill was 74, with tip. Portions were good, left very full. Will definitely go back.
I went to Doc Crow's for the first time last night after being recommended by my boss. It was a great decision! The atmosphere was great the appetizers were amazing (definitely get the beef brisket tacos) and dinner was not a disappointment. My mother in law got the shrimp and cheese grits and loved it! I got the shrimp and oyster po'boy and initially it was a bit dry, but I asked for additional sauce, which I got at no charge, and then it was perfect! And the dirty rice was delicious as well! Overall it was just a good time, good portions, good food, and a great server!! I'm hoping to take my husband once he returns from his deployment! Keep up the awesome food and service!
This restaurant was just ok. I had the shrimp po' boy. The shrimp was excellent, but the rest of the sandwich was mediocre. I would eat here again...but it would not be my first choice.
Marine Corps Reunion Dinner. Went to Doc Crow's on a referral from someone else. I was hosting a Marine Corps reunion for a bunch of guys, got in touch with the owner of the eatery since we had a pretty large group. We had about 20+ people in our group and everyone seemed to have a great meal, very nice atmosphere inside the restaurant with a very post modern type feel. From my understanding they are known for BBQ and the food did not disappoint, I split my meal with another guy and our steak and ribs were excellent. I would recommend this as a good place to eat.
I will definitely eat here again! The food was really good our waiter was so helpful. We had been working all day and were starving. He had the food out so fast for us.
My wife and I loved the place.. It looks small when you first walk in, then you realize the place goes all the way to the next block. Water bottle and two glasses to read your menus. When you are done The two sauces they have on the table one is a Western Kentucky type (mostly vinigar and spices) the other a tangy sweet almost KC meets Texas. The beer list is impressive in its own but so are the wines and bourbon whiskey menus. I settled for a New Orleans beer had never had to go with my half rack of baby backs, These were tender fall of the bone, they had the pink ring under a dry rub crust, tasty. The sides I had were beans and greens, ate them all like a good KY boy I am. My wife had Pork BBQ sandwich with house chips. The sandwich came on a briouche bun with the tender pork butt pile high on it. Yes I said Butt and would say it again too. It had cripy tobacco oniond on top and a celry salt based slaw on the bottom. With her ice tea being kept full with out her asking every tim too. We enjoyed the trip to the city of Louisville very much for this increadible treat. The deserts sound wonderfull too bad we were stuffed full.
Looking for something fun and different come to Doc Crows. The beef brisket tacos are awesome. Yummy!!!!
Great atmosphere, a very differt place. To go. Food is great . very nice staff (local ownership). Oysters are super!! Yes I would go back and do!!
Nice atmosphere- good pulled pork. My husband loved the pulled pork sandwich he had for lunch. He's had pulled pork at several places in the city and thought this was the best he's had. Tender, good sauce, toasted bun, with slaw and pickles on the sandwich. I had the turkey club which was pretty much like any other turkey club. I saw big bowls of the kettle chips when we walked in and was excited to try them. However, they had little flavor and no salt (chips with no salt??) I guess they are healthier, but not too good. I even wondered if it was a mistake. Waiter could have used some common courtesy 101 training. Atmosphere was nicer than I expected. Chocolate chip cookies were really good (allow time as they are cooked to order) and the Wilber's Sundae was great! Two sandwiches and 2 desserts with water came to $30.
Great place for lunch. Had the brisket tacos, Mac n Cheese and a Shiner Bock. All were excellent. Service was great as well.
Took a party of 10. Service was very good. Food was good. Quality matched the price. Would go back.
Great service. Good food. Terrific atmosphere. Very reasonably priced.
This place was fabulous and we ordered the half a chicken that was deep-fried in a chili sauce. I got the barbecue potato chips and my husband upgraded to the baked beans, and it was all cooked perfect and fabulous! Virginia our waitress, she was absolutely delightful. She made the best old fashions that we have had on our trip. Maybe the bartenders from Wisconsin need to come take lessons, lol.
I WOULD RECOMMEND
Very good. Food and service were awesome. Had a drink from the bar and it was well made. I believe our server was Jade and she was so kind and took good care of us.
I ordered the salmon dinner, cooked perfectly, ordered medium. My sister got the blackened catfish dinner and it was quite tasty as well.
If you're in Louisville, stop and enjoy!
This place was pretty cool! I believe the bartender said they had over 3000 whiskeys! Our food was so good! We had the fried okra which was as fresh as it could be, a wedge salad and Doc’s Taco’s with brisket and pulled pork - everything was delicious! The atmosphere was lovely and staff was friendly and knowledgable. Don’t miss out on the bar side (to the left when you walk in) where they keep everything, it’s so neat to see!
1st timer! Yum!!! This place seems as if it’s a small quaint place until you walk down this hallway they have that leads you to the beautiful man or woman cave-like oasis.
Very Nice atmosphere! Our server name was Shannon and she was Awesome. She knew the menu and had great recommendations. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer to share which were Phenomenal. I say phenomenal because of the taste but for 3 very small bite size crab cakes for $30 is a little steep.
For my entree I ordered the pulled pork tacos as a plate which comes almost like a sandwich which is not at all the sand thing but decent. The pulled pork was a 10/10 but the plate was a 7/10. I had a Caesar salad apart of my plate which was ok and their version of tomatoes. 7/10. Would recommend. Thank you!
Amazing lunch. We had a great time, was great service location and atmosphere. Love that they have OpenTable.
We enjoyed the kids cheeseburger, shrimp and grits, shrimp Po boy, wings, short rib.
It was all fantastic. Had a great slice of derby pie to finish which was amazing.
Great service - Great staff - Excellent blue point oyster’s. Fried chicken, salads, chicken wings, shrimp & grits. Sit and eat at the bar the staff will keep you entertained. Cold beer whiskey and 🍷
Easy walking distance to the Galt
Been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is absolutely amazing and you get good portions. For the amount of food you get, the price is just right. Service is always outstanding. One of my new favorite spots.
Doc Crow's is amazing. I stopped here for lunch after flying in. The food was hardy and delicious and the Derby Pie was rich and nutty and divine. Every single server and staff member I interacted with were so nice.
Great Breakfast spot to begin your Louisville day! Sitting at the bar and chatting with the staff was a great way to learn about the area. “We have 2700 Bourbons and we’ve dipped into everyone of ‘em”, The bottles are displayed throughout Doc Crows for your enjoyment to drink or explore from a distance.
So I have to say my waitress Mallory is amazing!!! We came in a second time just to see her again. Had the blue point oysters and they were phenomenal. I'm from out of town, Houston, and I had the best time here and great food! Thank you Mallory
Quick stop to rest in Louisville before heading home! Doc's Hot Fried Chicken was fantastic. The Bourbon Barrel Stout from @goodwoodbrewing was perfect!
This place is just the place you want to visit if you want a variety of bourbon...sooo many choices! The shrimp and grits were outstanding! Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely will go back if I'm in Louisville again.
Excellent smoked brisket and great menu. Good service. Nice cocktails. Really enjoyed the mint juleps. Right by Old Forrester Distillery and Duluth Trading Co.
An overall good experience. The Old Fashioned was satisfying but seemed a little watered down. The tacos were very good and the pork chops were perfectly fried though as you can see from the photos I only received about a tablespoon of gravy for two entire pork chops which is basically negligible. If you do eat here, be sure to save some room for dessert as the derby pie was the star of the show!
Pretty cool place if you're a bourbon/scotch kind of person. Split the sampler with the roasted chicken (delicious), brisket (moist and tender), pork (sweet with the BBQ sauce), and jalapeno hush puppies.
The Blue Pointe Oysters were the best!!!!! Beer cheese is the bomb!!!
Between the tasty food, the delicious drinks, and the outstanding service from our waitress (Mallory). Her customer service was above and beyond. In fact, we were so impressed with it all- that we went back and had it again for dinner the very next night! Mallory greeted us when she recognized us at another table. Our server for the second night was Darius. He waa super friendly and very helpful!
These experiences made Doc Crow's a now permanent part of our itinerary for any future Louisville trips. These two Texas ladies got.a taste of some quality Kentucky hospitality.
Went to Doc Crows with some friends for dinner. Denise was our server. She was knowledgeable, friendly, funny & efficient. She kept up with our endless requests and questions. We had such a good time, and she definitely contributed to that! Great place to go with friends. Delicious food!
The food was good and the service was excellent. I do not believe I have been to a place that has more bourbon choices. My lord man, if you want it, they most likely have it.
