Uptown Cafe has been one of my favorite Louisville restaurants since my first visit in 1994. The grilled chicken sandwich and homemade chips at lunch are my “go-to”—so yummy! Dinner is a more difficult decision—some of my all-time favorites include the salmon, the linguine with sesame chicken broccoli and the wonderful chicken piccata. All are just delicious! The daily specials always make the decision more difficult, however! When in doubt, go with the burger—hands down one of the best in town. I’ve honestly never had a bad meal there. I love the bar area and have always had prompt, friendly and helpful service, day or night. Whether I’m there with friends or work gatherings, I always leave happy. Thank you to everyone at Uptown!
I love the Uptown Cafe, the food is delicious and the staff are friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend the fish tacos, the Uptown burger and any of the small plates.
love lunch and dinner here ! uptown burger is amazing ... and its even better because its on an english muffin!! For dinner the shrimp cakes appetizer is to die for! service is always great and staff is always so nice and sweet! definitely a favorite in the highlands to eat! and very reasonable prices for a nice sit down restaurant!
Food and service were both excellent!!
I was with a group of twelve, and all of us thought we had the best entree on menu, lol, and we all had different orders. I had the special, and it was awesome!
Everyone had a great time, and we'll all be back.
Thank you!!
Best fish specials, best martinis in town. Wonderful staff and owner.

The food is awesome and the service was excellent. Had a great experience first visit came back for my sons birthday and will be back again
Uptown Café offers great food, cocktails and service. The large windows allow opportunities to people watch in this walking community. The food was incredible!
My girlfriend and I celebrated her birthday there this week and the dinner was amazing! Service was extremely attentive but not overly so.
One of their specials that night was a cod served over their usual stir fry offering. WOW....no hyperbole....one of the top meals I've had this year. Girlfriend had the salmon croquettes and she couldn't stop raving about them. So much so she made me try them....and yes, they were delicious.
As great as the food was the portions were big enough that we each had to take some home.
This is all a triple word score in my book and I highly recommend you give Uptown Cafe a visit!
Uptown Cafe does it Right ! Week after Week! Great Food! Thoughtful - Caring Staff! Great Location for Food & People watching ! With many choices in Louisville, Uptown remains the place for great food, ambiance, wonderful atmosphere... Uptown is simply hard to beat... 🎉🌅
The food was great, the service great, and I was with my elderly parents, who both use walkers, and the staff was very helpful especially when we were leaving. I asked one of the men to help my dad get up, and he was glad to do it and really helped him. I offered a tip to him, but he refused to take it.

Love the Uptown Cafe. Great food and good service. But they re always out of my favorite dessert Empress Carlotta But there’s always next time.
Delicious dinner last night. Fried green toms and cocktails to start. I had the chicken piccata, hub had the pork chop. Both were delicious. The presentation on the pork chop was so beautiful two other customers came up and asked what he had ordered. Delish!
A delicious example of what Louisville food is about ... creative and memorable.
Accidental destination for an anniversary lunch and had the best Hot Brown we've had. Next visit won't be accidental!
Had lunch with friends last week. Food and service was top notch. Can't go wrong with the Uptown.
Go there for the best Manhattan in town the atmosphere and the awesome smoked salmon pasta
My wife and I stopped him on a date night to have a cocktail. We were both overly impressed with the environment and the cocktails. This is one of the places that has still kept a reasonable price point on some good craft cocktails. Can't wait to go back there for dinner
Loved the stuffed mushrooms and side of blackened chicken I had last night. Very tasty and delicious. Server was great and very attentive to our group !
My husband and I were in the area and decided to come to Uptown Cafe for lunch. Although it was almost closing time, Jon-Mark, the General Manager welcomed us. We were not rushed. Our waitress was amazing and the food was delicious.
We would definitely be back!
Great dining. Uptown has been in business for years due to the great food and atmosphere. The menu has many options, but all of those options have a delicious variation, grilled salmon with Wasabi infused soy sauce avant garde, highlighting the dish. New special entrees weekly/monthly will make a revisit appealing. The bar is well stocked and specialty cocktails are well designed, or you can choose from the wine/beer lists.
During a last minute change of plans I walked into the Uptown Cafe. It’s such a charming place! I was quickly greeted by Michael and Micah. They are very friendly and accommodating. The salad I ordered was fresh and delicious!
- Thank you!
My wife and I love the Uptown and we have for years. That said, the menu needs an update. Maybe we simply go too often. They do offer specials, but I would encourage the restaurant to explore more creative options. The service is always excellent, but the menu really needs an update as it seems limited and old. Overall, the Uptown staff does a great job.
The first clue that this place is amazing is everyone over 75 comes here dressed to the 9’s. If you want a kid free night go here, it’s quiet, every waiter we’ve ever had is so kind and funny. The food is always some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Favorite place in Louisville
First impressions were good, super friendly people with a very relaxed atmosphere. The draft beer selection was minimal but plenty of delicious looking cocktails. I had the Basa Fish Tacos, the texture was great but lacked in seasoning, very bland. My wife had the Jagerschnitzel which was fantastic! Very tender, cooked perfect and the mashed potatoes were amazing. All together it was a good place to visit in one of the best spots in Louisville.
Had the Mixed Greens Fruit Salad with melted Gouda, It was Awesome, I killed it! Sarah was very professional and informative with a great vibe!!"
Great atmosphere, service and the food was delicious! My glass of water was never empty and our waitress Ashley was phenomenal. I’m a vegetarian and they had so many options on the menu. I had the vegetable stir-fry with fried tofu and it was so good [Pictured below]. It is a tad on the pricey side but you get big portions with lots of flavor. The clientele was older but it was not a problem.
I really love what Uptown did to the place with their remodel. It feels much more modern now. We had dinner there and the food was very good. The service at the bar was also really good, friendly bartenders which is a plus. It's an older crowd that does here, but I would recommend it for younger diners, as well. Keep on doing what you are doing!
The food and service are always great. We usually go for lunch if we have a little time. The soup and salad will come out quickly if you are in a hurry. The special is almost always amazing.
Really enjoyed this restaurant; visited for lunch and specifically tried it because they had a menu labeled with gluten free options. The chips and queso appetizer was the best I've ever had and I'll likely be back for that alone. Fish tacos were OK, seasoning was a little different than I am used to, but put together well. Friend had the stir fry and loved it. Staff was friendly and indoor atmosphere was really nice, with a patio area outside. The highlands area parking and traffic area always less than friendly, but a great option in the area.
One of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. Very cute, classy, and romantic atmosphere, perfect for a date night. The fried green tomatoes were okay, but the lemon chicken pasta was fantastic and the beef tenderloin dinner was phenomenal. Prices were reasonable.
I'd never been to this Louisville institution, but so glad I finally did!
A fairly dated menu but really well executed, great portions, bubbly service and vibe.
I enjoy coming to this place for the food and atmosphere. The pork chop and fish tacos are both solid options. The prices are decent too. A great stop on Bardstown road.
Bridget was absolutely wonderful. Even though I was a Lone Ranger, she took my takeout order and prepared the finest Coffee I have had in years, while I waited!
Love the Uptown!
Our hats off to you Tom,
Love, Tim and Liz
My wife wanted to explore the shops around here. We found a parking spot right in front of this restaurant and decided to have lunch there. It was a cold and slightly windy day. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Their lunch special that day was a meatloaf sandwich, perfect food for the weather! My wife had a bowl of chili, also perfect. The waiter was excellent. He has a very good sense of humor.
Stopped in for lunch one day and decided to go back for dinner the next night. The service was wonderful from the host to the servers and the food prep too! Lots of variety on the menu from local eats (Hot Brown) to sandwiches, salads, and dinner / ‘meat and potatoes’.
We were a large group and they happily opened their doors and quickly accommodated us. All of us said we’d certainly go back. *Bonus: they have a complete bar as well! Something for everyone - certainly Bourbon galore!
