I just had my first meal (breakfast) at J Gumbo's after driving by it many years. I purchased a Groupon for $20 worth of food and didn't find anyone who wanted to go to breakfast first thing in the morning so I went alone. I was let in the door prior to 8 am which is their start time and immediately given a nice cup of coffee. I ordered Debbie's Special eggs, corned beef hash, fried potatoes, grits and a bagel (I chose pumpernickel). That was way shy of $20 so I also ordered the Boudreaux Blueberry pancakes and some biscuits and gravy to go for my daughter at home. The meal was spectacular. I was absolutely satisfied with everything served and stuffed to the gills. I actually saved much of the food and ate it the next morning and was satisfied again. Natasha, the waitress is very friendly and observant towards your needs of filling your cup or bringing anything you may wish to have with your dish. Debbie and Bill are great cooks and also personable. Bill gave me a sample Benet which was as good or better than the ones you can eat in New Orleans. I look forward to start eating the lunch and dinner items. I have heard many people say they like J Gumbo's. NOW I do too. Thank you, Marvin for telling me so much about it recently.

We always have a good experience at this location of JGumbos. We just started going to their brunch a couple months ago and enjoy that as well!

Great portions for great prices. The gal at the register realized it was my first time there and let me sample Several of their dishes and all three were wonderful. Opted for the drunken chicken and it was delicious. Not overly spicy but very flavorful. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely more of a take out or quick dine in spot.

The service was awesome we got a description of almost everything and what would taste good for what we liked. The parking is weird because of the establishments that share lots. The food was continuous of people who are allergic to seafood. But you can add in shrimp and crawfish which is cool. They can make most of the menu into a nacho meal too. I'd tell you if you are in the mood for some Cajun food try this restaurant. It's the best I've had on Louisville.

We ate there about a week ago and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the prices were very reasonable (I think we each paid about 10-11 dollars), and we loved the old school Coke ads on the wall. They have a lot of great options on their menu. Nicky, who took our order and talked a bit with us was great. Genuine customer service. Definitely recommend eating here if you like this style of food!

Been a customer since they were Gumbo A-Go-Go. My favs are the Voodoo and Drunken Chicken. My wife loves the Bumblebee Stew. This is my comfort food.

Typically J Gumbo’s is really delicious, today was apparently an off day. The drunken chicken was really watery and the rice was still pretty al dente. The Cajun corn chowder was really good though. They were out of multiple fountain drink selections as well. A little disappointed with our visit today. We’ll be back because this isn’t typical. I hope it isn’t indicative of a long running trend downwards though.

First time at J. Gumbo and would definitely go back! We were the first customers of the day arriving at 11am on a Sunday morning. The bowls are hearty, good sized portions and decent prices. The staff was friendly and allowed us to taste a couple of the dishes. The inside decor was super cool and good vibes.

Delicious food and amazing service! I always have the best experience when I come here. Finding out they can turn any meal into nachos? A dream come true!

The service was great. The food was great. I just miss when it was Gumbo A Go-Go, it seemed better but maybe cus I hate change. I can't figure out if it changed the food but it definitely changed the bread they use. I like the other bread they used in the beginning.

Husband loves this place and took me for first time today. Excellent staff! So friendly. Ask for a sample of items before you order. Husband had VooDoo chicken and loved it. The food was fresh, however not to my taste. I had the drunken chicken and it was too sweet for me taste, however several other people ordered after me and enjoyed it. Portions are hearty and filling. Husband added shrimp to his VooDoo chicken and our total including drinks was $24ish. I believe if I go again I will try the Bumblebee, its has more of a rich, savory vegetable flavor that is not too sweet.

Get the Jean Lafitte with drunken instead of voodoo, its so tasty and has a great blend of flavors (they give you jalepenos cheese and sour cream). Its also super filling. They messed up my order, but gave me a free meal. Super cool of them considering it was still tasty.

NOLA in Louisville. We had a groupon. Clockwise: Mac and cheese side, crawfish dip, Texas toast with Shrimp étouffée. Not pictured: tortilla chips. Quick service. Would recommend. 8/22/20

I stopped here in 2013 on a visit from Canada and ordered the drunken chicken. It was one of the top 10 food experiences of my entire life. I know this was 10 years ago and maybe I was just hungry or something but I still think about that experience to this day.

Warm service with free samples make it easy to choose a hearty and flavorful dish. I did enjoy the good and appreciate the ability to customize. Try the voodoo chips for an appetizer!

Off the beaten path. A different style.of food which is a pleasant change from the typical burger scene. Portion sizes are HUGE - the spicey taste of the different types of gumbo is spot on. Give it shot for some variety - prices are very reasonable

Food is delicious! We are not from Louisville - But every time we get to town we make it a point to get JGumbos. We Dine in and then get some to go so we can enjoy it at home too.

Some of the best Cajun food in Louisville. I had the make your own nachos with the drunken chicken so much I couldn't eat it all. My husband had the gumbo. It was very good. And the young lady that waited on us was very friendly. This was the one on Frankford Ave
