Great food for the price. Not service with a smile but it's professional and speedy. Restaurant is clean and very casual. Less than a mile from the center of Hikes Point. I'll be back.

Great Food & Friendly Service. We had a really nice meal here and the staff was friendly and helpful. I'd like to go back during lunch hours and see what they have set out.

AlWatan Restaurant. I've been here a couple times... the kufta kabob is so fresh and delicious. My sister got a lamb shawerma sandwich, the meat was really tough. The chicken shawerma, on the other hand, is really tasty. The last time I went, the rice on my kufta plate was burned. It had that burned smell and taste. I just tried to ignore the taste by putting a lot of sauce. The service is not that great. They mostly stay in the back and don't really interact with their customers. I say give it a try, but take the food to go.

The Lamb Gyros are awesome! Tons of sliced Lamb and the pita bread is freshly baked next door. Give it a try you will not be disappointed! !

Always good. The service is always friendly, and the food is consistently good. I've eaten in and ordered take out. I love the fluffy pita bread, and they have a great selection for vegetarians. I usually get the falafel, the hummus, or the vegetarian shis kabob. Last time I was there, I ordered the shakshoka, which has eggs, tomatoes, garlic, and onion. To die for!

Try it. Noticed they had few reviews, so I tried it. Hummus was awesome, and shish touk was great. Large portions if you ask me. I'd come back again

Hands down, THE BEST hummus, fluffiest Pita I have ever had. And I have been to Many Arabic/mediterranean places. Friendly staff (a bit slow sometimes but they work both front & kitchen). Really good falafel. The grilled chicken dinner, kefta (ground seasoned lamb sausage) sandwiches and lamb gyro must be tried. Their combos come with fries but they will substitute for falafel on request. Love this place !

I love this restaurant! Their fries & lamb gyro are my go to dish. And if you like hummus, you have to get theirs because it blows any store bought hummus out of the water. The pita bread is also incredible, I could honestly eat it plain. They also have great baklava for dessert.

Loved my lamb gyro entree! Ganoush was alright. And, baklava was yummy too! However, my friend didn't enjoy his entree of chicken shawarma. Apparently, it was too dry. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my meal, so full points to Alwatan.

This is a fantastic little place tucked away just off Hikes Lane on Klondike. It's not terribly impressive from the outside, but it's what inside that counts. And what's inside is the best lamb gyros in town by a wide margin. Fresh, house-made pita is jammed full of crispy, delicious gyros and dressed with just the right amount of tangy tsatziki sauce, lettuce, and tomato. The combo, which includes a side of workmanlike fries and a can of soda, is a great value at $9. It's a heck of a lot of good, wholesome food, and you'll finish your meal full and satisfied. There's much more on the menu than just the gyros, and I've been told by multiple people that there are some other real gems on the menu, but I just can't tear myself away from the gyros. It's not to be missed.

Love this place. Huge selection of Mediterranean food. Great place to go if you are vegan, vegetarian or not. They have some of the best gyros in town. You can eat in or do take out. I highly recommend their hummus.

Holy shwarma! This stuff is delish. The kalaya is a superb dish of thinly sliced beef cooked in a tasty aromatic and chunky tomato sauce. The lamb gyro is crunchy and the meat is tender.

Love the place, I used to frequent this place when I worked at GE appliance park.....and the chef became so friendly and the servers were very nice .... they make real authentic Palestinian food. The best gyro I have ever had in my life....very generous portions. I once went to this place and saw all the executives of GE including then CEO James Campbell enjoying a meal here ..... everyone loves the atmosphere and best food taste.

We had the beef/lamb gyros and hummus and baklava and oh, my, goodness! How delicious! The bread was some of the softest and the hummus was as creamy as those I had while visiting the Middle East. This will definitely become a regular part of our rotation.

Great place for Mediterranean food! I just moved around the corner from this spot and am pleased with the authenticity of the food as well as the friendly service they provide. Very polite and the pdices won't break the piggy bank either. I recommend trying the gyros and the lentil soup! I really like it!

Ok here's the deal.. there is zero ambiance.. the people working are not very friendly... Disregard all of this. The food is STELLAR. This is easily the best Mediterranean we've had in Louisville. I don't mind not eating at the restaurant but I do wish the staff were more friendly! Smiling and being welcoming costs nothing! Again, the food is absolutely stellar. We'll be back again for sure!

Hummus is some of the best I've tasted. Gyros are authentic with fresh baked pita from the bakery next door. Everything is homemade including the baklava. A must for anyone who loves Mediterranean food. Two years later I stand by my review. Al Watan remains consistently good!

Great food! I pick up here all the time. The falafels are a great choice. We also take a couple orders of the hummus to parties quite often which are always a hit. Don't forget the baklava.

Amazing falafels and I had the lamb gyro also amazing. Can't wait to go back and sample more! Don't let the outside fool you, it doesn't look like much, but if you care about food more than appearance then this is the place for you!

This might be the best Mediterranean in town. Everything I have had here is super delicious. My husband and I go here pretty frequently. He is from Jordan so he grew up with authentic Mediterranean... he says this is the best falafel in town. Definitely try this place. They have a grocery store next door as well and you can get all kinds of mediterannean groceries and freshly made pita. So good.

You're not going to find any more authentic Palestinian an Eastern Mediterranean Levant area. Amazing hummus and skewer style Meats cook to a juicy perfection. But if someone asked me what they must have if they're here and I would answer there are two things falafel and the baklava.,
