Little place in the Buechel part of Louisville, tucked in with several other different cultural/ethnic restaurants. The food came quickly, and was hot and delicious. When we ordered we were asked what spice level we wanted - my lunch date and I chose mild as our stomachs don't do spicy very well. It was perfect.
The momo was great and the tomato sauce that came with it was tremendous. We shared a noodle soup and fried rice - both of which were super flavorful and amazing. We ordered a Nepalese tea for the end of our meal and it was incredible.
I highly recommend this place!

This is some of the best food I've eaten in Louisville. Everything was delicious, but we especially loved the vegetable momos in red sauce
The food was amazing! It's not a very large restaurant. You can tell them exactly how much heat you want in your food. My friend is a lightweight and the medium heat was too much for him but I thought it was perfectly fine not that spicy. Huge variety of choices! Check it out! These are some of the appetizers.
everything was pretty tasty and great portion sizes! we tried the chefs special biryani and the chicken korma. everything was very hot and fresh. also tried some fried dumplings which were great
Good food. Great service. Mixed Nepali Indian menu.
The menu offers a large selection of Indian and Nepali dishes. The young lady behind the counter invited us to sit wherever we liked as the restaurant was empty. She had a quiet and serious demeanor. We ordered 2 types of classic Nepali dishes and they were delivered to our table piping hot in about 15 minutes. The flavor was spot on and the portions were generous. Well done, Kathmandu Kitchen!
The food we got was exquisite! Ordered Chili Chicken - the flavor was so good and the serving was big. I got it in mild which didn’t have heat at all so go for the next level if you wanted a bir of kick in it. Partner got tikka masala, it’s sweeter than what I’m used to and not as generous of a serving as Chili chicken but also very very good. Can’t wait to try the other stuff in the menu!
Discovered this place a couple months ago and have been back four or five times. Love it. First time I went the guy ask me if I wanted spicy and I said "oh yeah, blow my head off." He did! It was delicious but yeah... I gotta admit I ask for medium next time! People are great and the food is awesome. Only complaint is I wish they were closer
to my house cause I could eat it everyday.
I had a good experience and I enjoyed my food. I’ve never had chicken vindaloo that wasn’t red but there’s a first for everything lol. It tasted good anyway.
The staff is very nice and polite and welcoming. The outside and neighborhood don’t look the best but the inside of the restaurant is very nice and clean and the tables and chairs aren’t all worn out or anything. Show up and enjoy a good meal and you won’t regret it.
Excellent experience! We have never been disappointed by Nepali restaurants and this one was one of the best so far! Delicious and great quality food. Fast service. Every time we go to Louisville we know where to eat.
Wonderful food - we get saag paneer ALWAYS & it’s the best we’ve had in Louisville area, comparing it to 3 other places. Lamps & signage are pretty, Bali wood on the tv to enjoy & enhance the ambiance & we overall enjoyed all our dishes! We will be coming back for sure.
Had the steamed veggie MoMo Nepali dumplings tonight with housemate tomato sauce ! So, so delicious. Loved it so much.
YUM! We chose this restaurant for takeout on a whim and it was the best decision we could've made.
I actually read a lot of Yelp reviews to decide on what I order and was glad I did!
We ordered the chilli chicken, lamb saag, raita, fried momos and garlic naan. EVERYTHING was amazing!
We got the chilli chicken in mild and the lamb saag in medium. The medium was definitely quite spicy but I loved it. I wish I did both medium. Both entrees were delicious!
The raita was perfect to counter the spicy bites. Honestly I could drink this stuff.
This was my first time trying momos and they were really good. The sauce made the dish
We ordered to to-go but still had a wonderful experience with the staff. Friendly, efficient and helpful.
Will DEFINITELY be returning to this place.
All I can say is WOW!!!
Called in a order of 5 dishes and it was ready in 20 minutes. All the food was hot, fresh, and good quality. We're very happy with our experience and will be back soon.
The Chicken Thukpa was delicious. Saag Paneer also hit the spot.
I just tried vegetable steam and jhol momo and also vegetable Thukpa. These are really good. Very authentic and make you feel home.
Highly recommended.
It’s not often you would find a review about a restaurant to start with a kind host they have and not the food. We were having a tired day after a 13+ hour drive from Minnesota to Kentucky and we desperately wanted to find an Indian or Nepali restaurant to literally hog our dinner and we found this online. We had a warm welcome by Rajesh, the single host who was handling the guests all by himself. Most of the times we don’t realize the role of a host and focus only on the food. Only if the host turns out to be a rogue, we feel compelled to write about them or generalize it as Bad service on the whole restaurant. A visit to the place was more of an eye opener for me on this aspect. It’s certainly not one of the best looking restaurants and would appear low on budget with its shady lightings inside. But don’t get fooled away. The menu was a standard Nepali/Indian menu and we ordered our starters right away which didn’t take much time to be delivered. Rajesh made sure to keep checking on how the previous serving of food was when he came to our table to deliver the next one. We had fried and boiled momos, veg thukpa, veg gravy, veg biryani and a mango lassi. I gave a 4 star rating as we felt that the spice was little raw and had the feeling that it could have been more blended with the dishes. Nevertheless, the quantity was huge and the cost was nominal. If I’m to visit Kentucky again, I’ll certainly dine at Kathmandu. Thanks Rajesh!
First of all, let me just say that not only is the food delicious, the service was some of the best I've had in a while. We were greeted promptly when we entered and before we ordered anything, we were asked if anyone had food allergies. Nobody in our group did, but it's incredibly thoughtful that we would be asked that. We also had a great conversation with the server and really appreciated him talking to us about Nepal. The chicken thupka was delicious and I'd definitely recommend it.
