While vacationing near Tampa, we decided to try some local seafood. Found this place using Google and it did not disappoint. The food and service are excellent. Portions are huge, and prices are extremely reasonable. I highly recommend The Great Catch! I had snow crab legs and onion rings, with Maryland crab cake bites as an appetizer. Sorry no pics but I couldn't wait to dive in. Must come back!
Awesome food for both New Englanders and local Floridians! The menu has countless options for both seafood and non-seafood items and everything is hand battered and fried or grilled or blackened and every item is made from scratch down to the batter mix itself. The coleslaw is the perfect blend of sweet and savory (made in house of course). The more popular options to get that I personally love are the Kickin shrimp, the Thursday special prime rib, the housemade clam chowder or lobster bisque, and the best lobster rolls south of New England! People come from all over the Tampa area to eat this food and I personally feel obligated to stop in for a bite to eat just driving by day to day. I strongly suggest that if you have not tried this place you MUST! Even the carry-out food is fresh and HOT and crispy!
Since we are from Maine & I love Maine shellfish, we were near delirious when finding this special restaurant so near where we live. We have been here several times and have brought friends & family, also from Maine, so they could enjoy a little bit of home away from home. I am especially happy with the lobster roll, it is fresh, all lobster meat, no other "stuff" in the lobster salad except a piece of lettuce in the bottom of the roll which makes it perfect. Food is served by a pleasant & fun staff, always courteous and quick. We have not had a single meal or part of a meal that had to be returned to the chef. My only suggestion would be to have a little better light to read the menu by. Otherwise, I describe this eatery with one word" PERFECTION!
First time and it won't be our last. According to my wife her Mahi Mahi bites along with a baked potato and broccoli were "excellent!" It was Prime Rib Thursday and I had that along with yellow rice and coleslaw. The prime rib was cooked to perfection, the rice had a small amount of veggies added which gave it an additional flavor and the coleslaw was about the best I've had in years at a restaurant. Located in a corner of a "U" shaped strip mall it's easy to miss but it won't be for us anymore.
The food is really good here. I've had everything from kickin shrimp, to basa, to boneless wings. Pretty reasonable prices and friendly staff too. I definitely recommend it. I would've given it an even higher rating, except for the fact that they have country music blaring non stop now, and I HATE country music. I'm talking twangy stereotypical country music on constantly, and loud. You can't ignore it. The only place I find this acceptable is a Texas Roadhouse or some other country themed restaurant where you know what you're going into. You expect it to be playing there. But at a seafood and wing restaurant it's completely distracting if you hate country music and ruins the atmosphere. Please lose the loud country music!
We are so excited to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood! If you like fried seafood - this is the place for you. My wife and I both had a fried seafood platter; I had the scallops and buffalo shrimp, my lovely wife had shrimp and scallops.
The portion sizes were plentiful and the food was flavorful and perfectly cooked. My only disappointment was in the Yellow Rice - the only thing that made it yellow was the coloring. There was no detectable saffron flavor - it was just bland.
We stopped in on a Friday night around 6pm for dinner and the place was jammin! There were people everywhere.
The ambiance is ok - nothing special - but that will probably improve as the restaurant becomes more established.
We will certainly be back! Welcome to the neighborhood!
We stopped at this place as we were driving by the area. The take out process was very quick and the staff was super friendly. The food came out in 15 minutes. The Mahi Mahi taco was HUGE! The fillet was tasty and could have easily been shared by 2 people. The Grouper sandwich and the Basa sandwich were both delicious. The portions of fries were a bit too much. The French Onion soup was a bit too salty and the Lobster Bisque was not the traditional Boston one. The Lobster Roll had a lot of meat and was quite delicious. The Crab cake bites were perfect as an appetizer. Overall the food was good.
The food was pretty good, I had the fried basa and fries, it was good, but not the best I’ve ever had. It was quite an extensive menu, so I’d try it again with another dish. Our waitress was phenomenal ( I think her name was Linda).

The food is excellent. The quantity is amazing and the prices are fair. I would have gave it 5 stars but the yellow rice that we ordered with one meal, just did not taste good and the fries needed salt, but overall... we definitely recommend this place and we will go back
Tayla was our waitress and she was amazing. Be careful the food is amazing you probably have trouble making it to your car😊
Great service, unpretentious, great food. Tuesday is all you can eat Mahi-Mahi. They give you A LOT. Hubby got it blackened and it was phenomenal!!! I ordered the fisherman's platter because I wanted some variety, but once I tried his Mahi, I kept eating it. Fabulous Cole slaw, too.
We had an amazing lunch today. Service by Laura was outstanding. Food was great - as New Englanders, a real Lobster roll is a true craving and The Great Catch never disappoints! The onion rings are just like my favorite spot from back home. We tried the linguine with shrimp and sea scallops, a new choice for us, and it was delicious as well! We usually get take out (which is always yummy), but really enjoyed dining in today - such a great mid-week treat! Thank you for bringing a great taste of New England to Florida and for the terrific service!
Service was very good. I got the Fisherman's Platter and it was very good (and enough food for lunch the next day). My wife got the crab legs. The only issue with her meal is that the drawn butter for the crab was a nasty brown color (maybe it was burnt?) and had some weird particles at the bottom. It tasted strange. Not the end of the world, but when we told the server it took quite a while to get some new drawn butter and when we showed her the difference between the two bowls, she seemed rather nonchalant about it. She should have seen that something was off with the first bowl. Still a good meal and good service, we will definitely go back.
