So glad I finally made it out to this culinary gem. The bluestem had a wonderful selection of menu items to choose from, a great atmosphere, nice decor, and most importantly a very friendly and welcoming staff. The host was knowledgeable, the server was busy yet prompt, the food was out of this world, and the chef-owner was there to see everyone was having a good time. I would highly recommend a stop at the bluestem if you're traveling through on the 90, or if you're staying in luverne. Your taste buds will thank you!
Just had the most amazing home made dessert at the Bluestem- blueberry ginger pie with lemon sorbet! Superb combination of flavors. That’s why we love going to the Bluestem- always something new. I’d share a picture but it’s too late because it’s gone.
I can't say enough good things about this place. Food is amazing, staff is knowledgable and personable, atmosphere is great, and the family that owns it are great people. Highly recommend The Bluestem for your dining night out!
The Steak is awesome almost melt in your mouth! The waitress was wonderful! Highly recommend.

Was there for my birthday with my family on NYE 2016. Fantastic experience. We all had burgers and agreed that they're the best restaurant burgers we've had in a while. My Blue Mound burger was excellent! I opted not to do the challenge. I actually wanted to enjoy and savor the meal. The Parmesan fries are awesome! Keep up the good work!

Expectations were low but this place turned out great! It was Tuesday so I had the $1 per ounce ribeye based on the waitresses recommendation. I can't remember her name but she was amazing. The margaritas were also fantastic. My friend had shrimp tacos and loved them too. A great place to try!
We ate at the Bluestem for the first time tonight. It was delishious!. The hostess and waitress really went out of their way to make our dining experience a great one! My only regret is that we didn't go there before tonight! A+
My wife, Mary Ann, and I went to The Bluestem following our time at Blue Mounds State Park this afternoon. The fine photographs on the walls of the restaurant were a welcome extension of our time at the prairie--and especially the one of the etheral Pasqueflowers--it is almost Easter after all. ;-)
And the food and service were exceptional! Mary Ann is from Wyoming--and she knows a good steak when she has one. She was overjoyed with the steak she was served at The Bluestem. I too was pleased with my entree--and the dessert Brownie we shared was excellent. We definitely plan to return our next time in the area. Steve & Mary Ann (Seattle)
Great Ribeyes for the Tuesday special, very tender and cooked perfectly how asked. Plenty of options for kids and the staff is super friendly. Might just have to become regulars.

Amazing. I wasn’t expecting much and this place actually was pleasantly surprising. They had some unique items on the menu that I wasn’t expecting to find in this pet on MN. The bar staff was so nice, the ribeye was excellent as was the mashed potatoes and lima/corn concoction! The price was reasonable and I would visit again in a heartbeat! Thanks!
We had the shrimp platter and they grilled them all for us. Good food and service. First time in MN and first meal there.
I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I have eaten here. Last time through, my hanger steak was delicious, and after I tried a couple tastes of my son's gumbo, I wished I had gotten a cup. It is really nice to look forward to a consistently great meal when we visit the old home place.
The food and service were excellent. We did a Google search looking for a restaurant within 25 miles outside Sioux Falls that presented an interesting menu on their website. We were not disappointed. I had a very tender sirloin steak with wild rice. The meal was very well prepared.
We plan to go back in the near future.
I had the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich and sweet potato fries. Very good. Service was excellent and nice atmosphere. We met friends there and had a nice visit. My husband had Prime Rib and said it tasted like MORE!
Very good. Was surprised at the quality of food in small town. Ribs were on special so tried them.. pretty surprised.. being a native of Texas and Tennessee I really needed some ribs... very good.. give my complements to the chef.. and the ranch dressing for the salad was awesome.. thanks for a good meal, I don't get many of them on the road.
The ribeye steak was awesome! Very tender, juicy, cooked to perfection. The wait staff was very courteous and helpful. The waitress responded well to questions about menu items. Definitely would come here again.
Not too often you can get a very high quality meal that is plated excellent and pay a reasonable price. My wife and I have been waiting over a year to get here for our anniversary and to say the very least, it was amazing. The decor doesn't feel so pretentious that you worry about the seat stealing your wallet. It also doesn't feel like you have to worry about cleanliness. The food was exceptionally amazing as well. I will be back! My wife too of course because she didn't leave me.
