First time here and the food is decent. Lots of choices and some authentic Caribbean dishes, all weight by pound for $12.99. Some were flavorful and some were a little bland but it’s being catered to a variety of cultures so that’s understandable. While it’s not the best West Indian restaurant around, it is certainly worth the friendly service and made to order Roti when requested. If I’m in the area again, I would check it out again.

When I tell you that this is a gem, I mean it. Food is by the pound and is still with it. I don't understand the reviews about not having flavor and they're wrong to the highest level. You can go to Wegmans and pay more per pound with no flavor at all. Each time I come, I try to get it to go, but i can't make it past the door. This restaurant stays in my list for suggested or recommended spots.

Tropical bites is fantastic. My wife and I both loved the food. We went in on a Saturday evening and greeted warmly by the owner and his staff. They gave us a full run down of the food, beverages, and a little about the artwork they had on the walls. It's self serve buffet style so I settled on the mac and cheese, red beans and rice, cabbage, green beans, along with one leg of the jerk chicken and two thighs of the curry chicken. Needless to say I had enough for two meals. Everything was seasoned great, chicken was tender, rice along with the chicken juice was great reminded me of a old Jamaican spot I would frequent in DC. The cabbage and beans hit the spot also. My wife had the stewed chicken, red beans and rice, curry shrimp, with the chick peas and potatoes. She is a tough critic of food but loved the food here, agreed on the red beans and rice being taste also she loved the stewed chicken. Another standout to her was the rum cake, she regretted not getting two pieces to have one for later. I had the red velvet, which was okay, but her rum cake was better I will get that next time. I will defiantly be returning, I look at it as a treat. I know some reviewers say it is pricey which is true but I look at it like any other restaurant that offers food alternative to american traditions it's going to be a little pricey especially in today climate. If I go to Indian, Thai, etc which I also like those are usually around the same price so I have no complaints about the price. It's authentic food that isn't made in a factory like fast food places. So we loved it and will definitely be back.

Great Caribbean oxtail sandwiches. I especially liked the cabbage version of the oxtail sandwich it had very nice caramelized like cabbage and carrots on top of big chunks of meat and soft thick bread either sandwich I had will fill you up and if you have a sweet tooth after devouring that deliciousness they have some delicious cake available too. Come hungry leave full wanting to order more regardless :)

I don't understand some of the reviews. Some people are complaining about the cost but Wegmans has a buffet that's $14.99 pretty pound for subpar food. The other complaints are about the food not having any flavor and that is far from the truth. The owner takes pride in his food and ingredients. He had come out and given a full description of his food and how he grew up in it. I've gone here twice and plan on making more trips. When you find good authentic flavors, you have keep going back for more.

The food is weighted so it can be a bit pricey. I love the oxtails, everything is fresh, and deeply seasoned. True to authentic Jamaican cuisine.

The coco bread and patty were really good. However, not sure I’ll be ordering anything else from there. Ordered twice and food was too salty. Jerk chicken meal also tastes weird. Thought it was an error the first time but food was salty the second time.

Amazing taste of Jamaica. Is a self-serve pay by pound take-out/dine-in. Food is always fresh. Also have lunch specials that come with a drink for a fixed price.

I have never had a bad meal at this place. I've been coming here since before the pandemic and the food is absolutely amazing! They have great lunch specials that are reasonably priced. Dinner can get a little pricey but it's definitely worth it for the quality of food.

My first time visiting and I wasn’t disappointed! The food was hot and fresh, restaurant super clean, and the manager is very nice! I don’t understand the complaint of the price when it’s less than grocery store buffet prices (Whole Foods, Wegmans, etc) and much cheaper than a restaurant order from a menu. I will be back!
