This is a place I stumbled on when I was walking around Manchester. My overall opinion is that it’s got great atmosphere with outdoor seating available, but what you really want to do is sit in the basement because it’s an old bank vault, complete with the old door.
It was nice and cool inside and I enjoyed a cold glass of water, an even colder glass of Guinness, and some “poutine”.
Now, I was originally going to get the Pork Dijonnaise that was on special but they ran out of fingerling potatoes. The bartender was kind and did offer me a replacement but I got the “poutine” instead. It was a good lunch, but instead of cheese curds there was some sort of melted cheese.
Overall I would definitely come back. It’s just a bit pricey - you’re not going to be spending less than $25 most likely.
This place is a shining example of food worth your money. The cheese plate had REALLY high quality cheeses, the Mediterranean pasta was unbelievable, and the steak sandwich was tender with a good crunch on the bread, but a soft inside. Fries were decent, but the rest of the food just blew us away. We also tried the mulled cider which is some of the best cider i have ever had. We had anniversary dinner at a different place near our hometown and it was awful. This place restored that for us and is an excellent beginning stop on our trip thru the beautiful North East. Thank you for giving us a wonderful anniversary dinner!
We stopped by on the late side unaware of Vermont's police state covid restrictions. The Underground Restaurant went out of their way but within the rules to accommodate us.The waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and promptly served. Their hamburger tasted really good and their house made pub cheese is very good. Prices are moderate. We would definitely go back.
Great, intimate, charming dining experience in what I suspect was the vault of the union bank, or something of that sort. They have the original vault door still installed down there. The food is delicious. Great beer selection. Lots of locals. Wish I lived closer to frequent more often.
I ate the poutine and it was unique and delicious. It's a good place to eat and a pretty cool atmosphere. They were very covid friendly and the waitress was really great. I would definitely go back when I come back to the area. Also their cheese curds are tasty. You should check this place out.
The environment is very clean and the staff is very hospitable! The environment is very unique and the gastropub is great. The food was good. Note to future customers - the restroom is through the glass doors near the kitchen! (You’re welcome for that future tip! A lot of people were walking around looking for it)
11/24/19 We came upon this place and decided to stay. Good beer selection and active display for beers and live "Untappd" updates, something I have not seen before (very cool).
Service was really good and friendly staff.
The bartender was more than happy to let me sample before deciding.
The Gf had a salad (pic) and loved it. I had the onion soup, it was good. Cool vibe and certainly worth returning to try more beer and food options.
Fantastic restaurant! The country fried chicken tasted absolutely perfect. It was one of the best meals I ever had! I also really enjoyed the nice salad. The staff was pretty friendly as well and the service was great. I really couldn’t ask for more at a restaurant. I would totally recommend eating here.
As you can see from the photos, we started with a flight and the pretzels. The pretzels were AMAZING and the cheese and mustard made this exceptional.
The beer list is comprehensive with a great selection of local and well know national brands.
For the entree, I had the pear salad that was fantastic and my daughter had the pasta in the kids menu. Both were very fresh and tasty.
We will certainly be back!
I fell in love. Hight recommended for visitors and locals. Urban pleasant atmosphere. Meals are decent as well as prices. A must! Thanks to Brian our server he's awesome , informative and welcoming also knows his menu well! Try it !
Decent burger, decent live music. In the basement. Wait staff werent super responsive and a few little things, like not enough ketchup with the burger and fries (tiny half filled cup) and hard to flag someone down for more. But passable and an excellent beer selection.
Place has a great vibe. Underground. Looks to be an old bank. Beautiful brick. People are not stuck up. Live music. Good beer selection. Daily specials. Decent prices. Pool and darts.
Chose this restaurant/bar mostly because getting a reservation anywhere was a slight challenge and they had available seating. So glad we stopped in. Lovely pub atmosphere, great service, and even better drinks! Food was quite tasty.
Waitress was great! Service was fast, all orders, even the ones with special requests, came out perfect. Like the pool table and dart board extras. Will definitely return!
