Dickey's in Coon Rapids is amazing. There service has been very fast and kind when I visited. The food is amazing and a good value. Plus free ice cream cones...can't beat it.
Dickeys Visit/Maple Grove. I vistied the other day for lunch to go.
I ordered the Wib Wednesday Special ( 4 bonz of Pork spares, 1 side and big yellow cup 'o pop!)
I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich.
Store was steady w/ biz... got my selection of sauces and food was ready in about 4 minutes.
Pop, btw, (Dr Pepper) was perfect (proper calibration) and even hours later (its a big cup!) it was still good!
very meaty ribs ( had wide end) and was well matched with all three sauces (original, sweet and spicy)
these are thin based sauces in the traditional style of Texas Q and exceeded my expectations for a chain quick serve 'que joint!!
The dinner roll was sublime (love them, love them...did I say I love them)
Pulled pork was tender, moist and a hearty value for the price. Baked beans were untested.
grabbed a quick souffle cup of ice cream. nice ideal, was a tad grainy however.
Clean, well stocked store and the counter help (staff ) was very friendly and professional.
I am already thinking of getting some smoked meats for thanksgiving.
I said I liked it because the BBQ was actually pretty darn good. The original sauce is very good. Nice touch with the extra sauce being warm. Nothing worse than cold sauce a hot sandwich! at this point I have only had lunch and have not tried the ribs yet. I'll be back to give them a try for sure. The side dishes and the tea are only alright. With some simple seasoning the sides would be much better! The tea was weak and needs more tea flavor! Another nice touch is the free ice cream. Kids will love it. Not great ice cream but like I said, kids will love it. Overall it's a BBQ joint and they do BBQ well so I'll give them props for that!
Surprisingly Good!. I was not expecting too much- a Barbecue 'Pit' located in a glorified strip mall- but it was pretty good. I had a Beef Brisket/Hot Links sandwich w/ side of Loaded Potatos- and everything was fairly tasty. Really liked the Hot BBQ sauce. The wife had the turkey and it was possibly the best I have ever had. Portions are pretty small, but that's not necessarily bad.
I am a NC BBQ snob and this was good, fast, and I will go back often. Very clean too.
Son and I went to this restaurant today. The food was fantastic, the service was great and you get free ice cream with every meal. I will go there again. Did I say the food was fantastic? It was!
Great BBQ pork and the mac and cheese was delicious and I had a expert sampling that said the same - my boy. Kids know their Mac and cheese
Oh and kids eat free on Sunday
Was concerned when I saw another review saying the food was less tasty than Famous Dave's but I'm happy to report that's completely inaccurate. In all fairness, the ribs I got were tastier and more meaty than Famous Dave's ribs were (the low-end ones that Dave's serves, anyway). The brisket was excellent - smoky but not too smoky and seasoned perfectly while the chicken breast was juicy and flavorful and in nice bite-sized slices.
I also got 2 sides, their Mashed potatoes (good but nothing exceptional) and Baked beans (tasty and quite good). The meal also came with a small roll which was bready and heavy but also good.
I grabbed two mini-cups of Barbecue sauce to go with me for my meal - spicy and regular and both were very good. I quite liked the spicy sauce, it wasn't too zingy but it left a nice little spark on my tongue. Good stuff!
Service was very good though I came during a snow-storm and there was no line at all. Pricing seemed a wee bit high but not that bad, really, considering the variety of food I got in the 3-Meat platter.
All things considered, this is a better deal, imho, and better tasting than a comparable takeaway meal from Famous Dave's - Sorry FD, you gotta step it up. Dickey's has you beat every which way as a takeaway, fast-food style of barbecue restaurant.
For a long time, I was not a fan of Dickey's. However, I gave this restaurant a few opportunities and it earned my business (I since have switched over to a primarily vegan diet). So I no longer frequent Dickey's. But this location for the most part served my family well as far as a decent meal at a fair price.
