Review Great Wall Chinese Restaurant - Maquoketa

Actual meal was good. I ordered fried dumplings. They looked like a plate of goo. The insides came out when you picked them up. They would not stay together, looked like raw dough. Told the waitress 3 times. She did not remove them. Her suggestion was to fry again after they had already been fried. I eat fried dumplings at least 1-2 times per week for years. Never like that. Told they were like that because they were fried. She still charged for them. None had been eaten I even put them on another table for her to take. I told her at the register that she can take them off or I would not leave a tip. She chose to charge. She lost a tip and customers.

The food is here always very good, the owners are pleasant and they have a very clean restaurant

Ordered online through BringMeThat app. After ordering, I received a cryptic text message asking me to pay with cash when arriving at restaurant. When I got to the restaurant, I was told that the restaurant never received an online order. When I asked “so you didn’t get an order for chicken and two egg rolls?” “Nope.” Then a gentleman came out and said “are you the order for chicken and two egg rolls?” … After a confession from the lady working, it was we determined that she had lied. So, they did get the order, but would not complete it because they did not want to process a credit card transaction and wanted me to pay with cash. To the restaurant owner, I recommend better customer service and don’t be deceitful. To anyone curious about this restaurant, avoid like the plague.

I would have given it 0 stars if it offered it. My opinion is bias due to me not liking Chinese food at all. Regardless something should be said about a restaurant that is completely empty when you walk in. Scary . Dont eat there if you can avoid it.

Ate supper here on a Saturday evening. The waiter was excellent and friendly. We ordered different dishes for my wife, my boys, and myself. All the food was delicious with generous portions. Glad we tried it on our way through town!

We always enjoy our meal at The Great Wall. The food is very tasty & usually more than you can eat. Doesn't take long from ordering to eating & the food is piping hot. They have carryout as well if you don't have time to come in to eat or want to eat at home. We are fortunate to have them in Maquoketa!

They dont take debt or credit card food ok

The staff was friendly enough, but they came and got our drink orders and then didn't come back to the table untill they brought the check. Also they didn't have a very big selection of food, they had one buffet table that had 12 foods and sauces, the bigger table had about 18 foods and such, only one beef dish, no shrimp, sweet and sour pork was the only pork, they only had spring rolls, the crab Rangoon had very little crab flavor to them. Most of the dishes were chicken. And the desert table was a joke, they had two types of cakes, two puddings, and one Jell-O, that was it. For a Friday night I was not impressed. Also it was $10.95 per adult and $6.50 if they fit under the red line. They also charged us $9.95 for 4 cans of soda and one fountain drink. So for 3 adults and 2 kids it was almost $60 for a $30 meal. We will not be going back.

We eat here AT LEAST twice a month, probably more. I love the chicken in garlic sauce, my husband is a shrimp in garlic sauce fan, my daughter gets sesame chicken, and my son likes everything: from the lo meins, beef, chicken or shrimp in garlic sauce, crab rangoon, orange chicken, and the all you can eat buffet.

My family loves to eat here! Best Chinese food ever! And Ada and family are the friendliest people.

This place is terrible!! I give it a one star only because I can't give a zero!!

Great food, great prices! Love supporting this local family business.
