Anyone, anyone coming to Marietta, Pennsylvania has to visit Shanks tavern! I'm 74 years old, and this is the most friendly place I've ever stepped into. Has a good time. Tammy was a great bartender, very friendly and did the best she could with how busy things were when I was there. Burger was pretty good, and the pesto pasta salad was excellent. Will stop by again.
After a few years hiatus for no particular reason, we've gone a couple times recently and have really enjoyed it. Great food, great atmosphere, great Guinness (even if they don't use the traditional glass), and great desserts (made in house). Go there.
Very neat pub along the River Trail. Bike parking, lunch specials, cool atmosphere, historic building, and excellent beer on tap. Great mid way stop when doing the Northwest River Trail or in the Marietta area.
First time here. They were always closed whenever we went through the town. Sat outside. Wasn't crowded for lunch on a nice Saturday. Menu wasn't very big, but food was good. Portions were a little small, but that said prices were reasonable for the size. I'll go back again. Service was fantastic.
