I had the Smith burger and a small root beer and split the fries with my hubby. It was about the best burger I think I've ever had and I've been to some really good burger places. The special sauce and the little bit of crispiness on the outside of the burger made it so good! And the root beer is awesome �
Love this place! One of my favorite places that we ate at all through my childhood and still do when we come to visit!
As a kid I ate there all the time, I loved the jukebox and the gorilla in the cage outside in parking lot. I moved away and hadn't been to Charlie's in years,I took my husband there this past weekend and he loved the cheeseburger (said the best he had ever had.) I had my all time favorite,still the best ever breaded mushrooms!!!! Thank you Charlie's for giving this old chick a little bit of her child hood back.

I stop in occasionally for some good beans and cornbread. I like the smalltown,hometown feel. Plus I know how important supporting I cal owners can be.

I worked there in 1977 or 78 with Pat Smith and Charlie grilling and helping with ice crushing, loading and unloading.

We continue to find it impossible to get the owners of this web site " zomato.com " to let this page be updated by the owners of Charlies Drive In. We continue to get complaints ( a few per year ) that our menu does not match current prices and items. The first page the menu is more than 6 years old ( January 2012 ) and was not submitted by the owners. It was copied from our face book pages. The current menu ( January 2018 ) has been uploaded and is waiting to be approved.

Bbq pork grilled cheese with grilled onions n banana peppers and jalapeno peppers grab that and wash down with a chocolate coke! Mushroons and cheese sauce! Love how aunt vicky knows each regular customer and tries to greet everyone she sees by first name. ALSO getting burthday cake shakes on birthdays! Yum!
Dirty place always has been but when I was a much younger man this place had the best 25 cent cony dogs. Nothing like spanking MHS then stopping here
What a find!. Was in Martinsville with the wife meeting someone at Starbucks and wanted someplace to go for lunch. Plugged in nearby places on the Garmin and Charlies's popped up!! We ALWAYS go to a drive in if there is one in the area and needless to say we were not disappointed! I had the jumbo tenderloin, fries and homeade root beer, the wife had the bbq sandwich and onion rings. We split a cheeseburger! Everything was tasty and made to order so it was really fresh and hot. Vickie (sp) waited on us and was really nice and pleasant and the kindness added to what was already a wonderful stop! We will be back to have the "Betty B" burgers!!! P.S. the home made rootbeer is the bomb and the wife said that it was the best onion rings she ever had! Bravo to a great place!!!!

Long time customer. Charlie's Drive-In is a great place to eat. I have been a long time customer since the mid 80's. The place has great food for a reasonable price. Their rootbeer is home-made, and is rich and creamy. Their Tenderloins and Coneys are one of my favorite meals there.
As to the comment someone posted about crinkle fries being cheap - I doubt it, and they are what I would expect from a restaurant recreating the yesteryears that is so well known!
Everyone has opinions of what is good, so give it a try yourself, I am sure you won't be disappointed.
As to a previous comment about the place being dirty, the pictures posted showed the restaurant shortly after purchasing it from it's previous owners. While I have never been in there and seen it "dirty", the decor did start to wear and look a bit worn out Vicky and her family have put alot of work to bring it up to the quality eating establishment we have grown up with. Yes, the place is old, but has had a bit of a face lift since those pictures were posted. Give it a try!

This place is awesome. We ate here for 7 or 8 days in a row for lunch. We were working on a paint project in the area. Owners and family are amazing people. They greet you by name, bring your meal to your table, and have some amazing home made root beer.
This is a family owned diner with great food and even better owners. If you need a place for a special event don't hesitate to ask Ed or Vicky about accommodations. Very reasonable on rates for birthday parties, baby showers and any other event. The Littell family last year allowed us to use their diner for my dad's Celebration of Life, but their graciousness didn't stop there. They cooked and brought food to the event, served our family and cleaned up. If you're looking for a great family owned business that will ALWAYS make you feel like family go to Charlies Drive-In.
Charlie's is tasty, has your basic burger and fries, but its meal is the jumbo tenderloin. Eat it. It's got sloppy Joe's and baked beans and they make thier own root beer too. That's the star drink there if you ask me.

I loved the hotel and the room and the shower was absolutely amazing! 4 stars cause I'm so upset that provisions was not open on Sundays so I did not get to try "The Burger" all my dreams were crushed that day 😭🚫🍔😭
Been going since I was kid. Staff are kind and friendly, food is always good and the prices are acceptable. Highly reccomend if you can't avoid this town and want to eat somewhere local.
A lovely place to go and grab a tenderloin and onion rings. Atmosphere is charming and the regulars make you feel at home. Service is quick and friendly. Yum yum yum!
