The food was great from the oysters to the ribs, but the black velvet ice cream sandwich was the best dessert that I have had in years. There was a band playing the blues. Worth every penny. Oh yeah the wife that eat healthy nasty stuff had a cup of the jambalaya and ordered a quart to go. It was that good

Went for dinner on Friday night and 6/6:15pm is the perfect time to arrive as we were seated right away and the restaurant was still quite empty. The music started at 7pm and that is when it started to get very crowded so get there early and hang out for the music. The place definitely has a great vibe and atmosphere. We ordered the pasta jambalaya, the pig out, and a side of grits. I was torn between the pasta jambalaya and shrimps and grits. I ended up choosing the pasta with a side of grits and it was definitely the right choice. The pasta was delicious and a nice portion, it was quite spicy on its own and we almost asked for extra spicy(I would not recommend getting it any hotter). The pasta also was delicious leftover a few days later. The grits were a great choice as side, they were fluffy and delicious. They did not taste spicy while I was eating them but when I reheated them the next day they did. I did see someone who ordered the shrimps and grits and it looked quite soupy and I do not think you would really get to enjoy the taste of the grits with that meal. The mussels also looked extremely delicious. As for the pig out, I have ordered similar meals at other restaurants so I was expecting a very large amount of food but when it came I was underwhelmed by the amount that they gave. It was still a good amount of food but nowhere near what I was expecting but all of the items were very delicious and cooked very nicely. If I had to choose one I would definitely go with the brisket. Next time for the price I would probably just order 2 different sandwiches as opposed to the pig out.

Didn't know what to expect, even when we walked in the door. Truly Casual atmosphere with outstanding food from apps to dessert. The service was incredible to. Susie was on point, helpful and brought some great laughter to our table. We'll be going back and I'm pretty sure it will be one of our frequent places now. Prices were good too, as expected.

Big Daddy's is a prime example of what makes Long Island's food scene so great: diverse options in the suburbs for those nights you can't or don't want to schlep into the city. The dishes range from the savoury to the spicy to the just plain quirky and often Venn diagrams across all three. Where else can one enjoy a fine Sazerac, alligator skewers that really *do* taste like chicken and also crawfish tails in peanut sauce that SOMEHOW WORK together as a dish? Additionally, the staff are all incredibly friendly and accommodating and ensure your meal is prepared exactly as ordered, with each course well paced. I also highly recommend Big Daddy's for birthdays and other celebrations. It is a great space for lots of people, of all ages, and depending on the day, there's even live music! It had been far too long since my last visit here, and I won't make the same mistake again.

This is one of my favorite restaurants on long island. Been going since the original owners and stayed true to great Cajun food when sold quite a number of years ago. Now have BBQ too which is very good. My only problem is that I moved to upstate NY and can only enjoy when I visit long island. Great Food and Great, Great Service. Can get very loud when very busy.

Wow! What can I say. I have friends from the baton rouge area and I've had some of the best food in Louisiana. This was absolutely right up there with the best cajun style food I've had. Totally outstanding!

The staff is extremely friendly and hardworking and knowledgeable about the menu. Follow their Instagram and just look at the food pics... It'll leave you drooling!

Amazingly delicious food, made with quality ingredients and huge portions as well, though frankly very expensive. Keep the contents of your wallet in mind before coming here but otherwise it's all worth it. Parking isn't great either, so taking an uber or getting a ride here is the best way to go.

Overall Sunday brunch was good. Portions were big and to top it off, $20 for bottomless brunch drinks. Have to go back and try their dinner menu as I was told it's also good and their bbq is on point.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the food is a good as it gets. I personally got a cup of the gumbo, which was easily one of the best gumbos I’ve had. And for my main I got the burnt ends and grits, which I could’ve eaten 4 bowls of. I can’t wait to go back

Omg what an amazing restaurant! Between the food, drinks, & service...5 stars all the way! Located in Massapequa, there is limited parking in the area. They have outdoor tables and a tent set up which takes up the majority of the parking lot. There is street parking close by. Inside, there is a large bar, and tables scattered throughout. They take reservations on Opentable. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted at the door and seated. I loved the decor and theme of the restaurant. The prices are wonderful. Drinks range from $10-$13. Food is reasonably priced and the portions are HUGE! Even desserts weren’t a killer on the wallet. The service was top notch. Our server Lindsay was super friendly and attentive. We were given a carafe of water for the table which was refilled often. She also gave soda refills and offered other drink refills. She kept checking on the table. The ticket times were awesome. All of the food came out at a steady pace. The drinks were delicious. I had a Bloody Mary which wasn’t overly spicy, but the Choking Doberman was extremely spicy (which I enjoyed). The Hurricane drink was delicious! 5 out of 5 stars on all of the drinks. & Free soda refills. The food was so good! If your a fan of spicy flavorful foods, this place is for you! Some of the dishes weren’t spicy, but the majority of them were (which I loved). The portions were great. Everything came out hot & fresh! I will be reviewing what I tried: -Complimentary fresh bread & herb butter, delicious! -Mussels Lucifer: Wow these were so tasty. The broth was spicy and full of flavor. The mussels were cooked perfectly. I took some of the bread and dipped into that amazing broth. 5 out of 5 stars -Pretty Megs Wings: These were cooked to perfection! The sauce had a little zing to it but nothing crazy. The chipotle sauce was out of sight. 5 out of 5 stars -Chicken Fried Steak: Wow I’m so happy I chose this entree. The fried steak was delicious, the sausage gravy was delectable, and the cheddar mashed potatoes were out of sight. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. 5 out of 5 stars -Blackened Ribeye from Hell: Yes this is 100% worth the $$. This steak was huge and cooked perfectly! Make sure to bring your appetite for this behemoth. The rub was a little spicy and packed with flavor. The collard greens were some of the best I’ve ever had. 5 out of 5 stars -PB&J Pie: No wonder this is famous! This was so delicious. I can’t wait to get it again. 5 out of 5 stars -Chocolate Layer Cake: Big fan of layer cakes, and this one didn’t disappoint! 5 out of 5 stars -Bananas Foster: My fiancé’s dessert was brought to the table and I could not resist. It looked so good that I had to try a bite. It tasted as good as it looked. 5 out of 5 stars Overall, my first trip to Big Daddy’s was a memorable one. I can’t wait to come back. I’m planning on coming during the Wednesday Prime Rib special next!

Best Cajun food on the island! I've been to a few Louisiana spots on the island and this place has the best selection and taste so far. I started out with the Jefferson Parish Blackened Gator. A generous portion for the price. The taste was out if this world. The sweetness of the pineapple and habanero were paired perfectly with the spiciness of the habanero and the Blackened seasoning. The tail meat was a good choice over flank for the tenderness. For a main, I split 2 entrées; the Louisiana shrimp and grits as well as the Billy carter's crawfish. The clear winner of the 2 was the shrimp and grits. An amazing combo of fresh and unique ingredients made this dish. The grits were just the right amount of spicy for me. The crawfish was good, but a little too rich for me. The peanut flavor was super strong and a bit too creamy for my liking. What I did like was that you could still very clearly taste the crawfish. Next time I think I'll get another order of the grits and maybe try the catfish and Jambalaya.

The food snd drinks are fantastic. I ordered the Mighty Quinn's Fried Chicken and it was absolutely amazing. The Gator appetizer was very good as well. The live music is fantastic. They can't seem to get you in on time on reservations. We always have to 30+ minutes.
