A group of friends and I stopped in to the matthews location after attending a funeral. We called ahead for warning that we would have a small group arriving and wanted to make sure they were accommodating to our crowd. Without question or concern we were invited in and able to have a whole area to ourselves. Madison was our bartender and server and she was awesome and never skipped a beat. Sean, the general manager was so nice and personal with us as well. I would happily return here for any event!

Greeted immediately and provided attentive waitress. The burnt ends appetizer was very tender. Ordered the meat sampler - brisket was dry but the pulled pork was moist, beer can chicken juicy and sausage was flavourful. Sausage a bit over smoked but still good. Selection of local brews and indoor/outdoor seating. Bathroom clean and restaurant was well cared for and also clean. Get the brisket chili instead of the brisket. Its moist and really good. Beans are also. A good local BBQ joint. Sauces are also good vinegar based additions.

Always enjoyi Mac's for eating in or take out. They're front of house staff are always great. Went in last night for some super bowl snacks to take home. They were pretty backed up but the staff were great while I waited, asking any of us if we needed anything while we waited and were extremely patient and professional. Even with delayed food a great experience!

My daughter and I absolutely love coming to Mac's in Matthews. It's right off the interstate and it's the perfect meeting spot. I usually have my small dog, Ophelia, with me and they have always been so welcoming!
And what great service!! We had the best experience with Tobey as our waitstaff, that we ask for her section every time now! She quick, attentive, and I never have to ask for another drink! Kudos to Ms. Tobey!!
The food is always spectacular and the drinks are always cold! You can't go wrong!

Always enjoy coming to the Matthews Mac's. Service is fantastic, whether it's the amazing Joey at the bar who never let's my glass go empty (and has a stunning knowledge of all drinks!), or friendly Gabby serving at the tables, or even Sean the manager who has stopped by to check on things and suggest different menu items. Top class. Great food options and fun place to come to watch sports and hang out (safely) with friends.

Gabby KILLED it 2day. Great service, attentive, warm and just awesome in general. She recommended an awesome cocktail, winters peach and it was incredibly refreshing. My food was tasty and the to go brisket chili will be perfect for a little snack later on this evening.

Mac’s Speed Shop is by far my most favorite restaurant in Matthews. The food is delicious and the service is awesome. I recently had a server who was friendly and efficient who made the experience perfect. Her name was Tobey and she is the best! Would definitely want to sit in her section again.

Wow is all I have to say. For one, the food. Remarkable. You can definitely tell that someone is that kitchen finally knows what they’re doing. I had the brisket with some Mac and cheese and it was great!! I was new to the area and decided to stop it and sit at the bar this past Sunday. Joey my bartender was so great, so nice! She’s so knowledgeable about the beer selection, I’m not a big beer drinker, and she knew what I wanted before I even knew what I wanted. The manager that night, jasmine was a hoot. She was so sweet and so much fun. They both are. The servers were all nice too, the host was sweet too!
I will most definitely be returning for both jasmine and Joey! A new spot for me on sunday nights.

Went for lunch on Saturday at noon. Was surprised we easily parked 2 cars and got right in and seated. Had a really nice waitress that was attentive and timely. The food was very good. Appetizers of pork skins - never had homemade ones before. They were warm and tasty! Also had two small combos, each with 4 choices of meat and 2 sides. Between 2 plates we tasted all the meat and All was very good. I had plenty to take home too!
The only complaints, as others here have stated, are the uncomfortable stools and high top table. (I must admit, I have lower back pain a day later from this.) Our table was a smaller one. It had 3 stools, thank goodness we only needed 2! We could barely fit two of our meals. The app had to be piled on our meals so we could get rid of the basket. Once again the wait staff was great to pick up the basket even though she was not our waitress. We had to adjust everything because the six pack box that contained the condiments took up a large portion of our table. I must say, I've been more comfortable eating street vendor food on Food Truck Friday and Matthews Alive than in this restaurant.
However... upon leaving, I nosed around the place, checking out the restaurant. I was in the main room which was very crowed. The patio room with all the windows was a lot less crowded although they had the same tables. OUTSIDE they had brand new picinic tables!
Next time I go it will be a sunny comfortable day and I will ask for a picinic table. Until then, 2 or 3 new BBQ places have opened here in Matthews so I will check out the comfort of their locations. Don't get me wrong, food here is really good and I'all try takeout. Hopefully it will be better than the takeout reviewer that gave it only one star. I'm sure that might have been growing pains.

This is our go-to place. The food and service are great, and there are great beer/drink and food specials. For example the Mexicue menu is half price from 3-6 p.m. and 10 p.m.-midnight (if i recall correctly). But the half-price items are just as big as they are when regular price. The tacos are great and always overstuffed. Actually we haven't had anything on the menu that we didn't like. Staff is always friendly, and we're there two or three times a week now. We're glad to have a place like this in the area.

Mac's Speed Shop in Matthews has become one of my favorite places to go to. The food, awesome. Alongside the Bar-B Que, which is phenomenal, I have to say the Brunswick stew is to die for. I'm not even giving this review based on food alone, as the staff is exceptional. The reason we frequent Mac's (my husband and I) is not solely based on the food, although it is great. The staff is one of the main reasons we continue to visit Mac's on a regular basis. When you meet the bar manager Dan (who resembles a much younger and far more handsome version of Ray Liotta) you are greeted with the coolest person outside of Robert De Niro, short of a Joe Pesci. Cassie, Valerie, Elise, Rihane, Alie, and not to forget Kenny (yes, he still lives) are another reason we keep going back. We are very much impressed by the crew Mac's has hired and the food is as equal to the service we have become accustomed to. Great place to go to!

Went last night for a date night with my husband. We ordered the tacos, i got the pulled pork and he got the brisket. Both were AMAZING!!!! And best hush puppies weve had in a long time, that bacon honey butter is on point!!! Also had the fried pickles for an appetizer, theyre my favorite! If i coukd rate the food only it would be a 5, the reason for the 4 is because those high top tables with the wood no back stools are extremely uncomfortable.

Love their wings because they are grilled. They have the best choice of beer on draft. Especially local beers. And the bacon honey butter is to die for. Love Macs. Our waitress was awesome. All of them were. Glad you are here in Matthews.

In case you don’t know this... Mac’s has a brunch menu!!! The selection is perfect and delicious. $2 mimosas and the service at the Matthews, NC location is on point. Manager Len is very attentive just like his staff. We tried several brunch spots around Matthews when we moved here and this is by far our favorite for many reasons.

This place was right around the corner from a huge Lacrosse tournament and got packed really quickly. They handled everyone very well including our large group who came trickling in. They had the Ohio State game (as well as pretty much every other game) on. We ordered onion rings, deviled eggs, wings and ribs. Everything was delicious!!! The ribs fell off the bone and tasted so good! Highly recommend them. The Manager was SUPER nice and our server was incredible. I swear she was doing 5 things at once!! If your in town and want to watch some sports and have some great food, you can't go wrong with Mac's!!!!

Food was good, service was very good. Only bad thing was that Monday was $3.00 for any draught beer and all the taps were supposedly warm and not available. The only choice I was given for $3.00 was a mystery beer in a bottle. Maybe I should have been able to choose a beer? I ended up with an off the shelf Czech Pilsner, which isn't near what I wanted. I wanted a draught craft beer and was not even offered a bottle of craft beer for $3.00. Last time I checked, craft beer sold in Harris Teeter for $10.00 a six pack, which is under $2.00 per bottle.

Mac's is awesome! I was so happy when I heard they'd be moving into Matthews, NC. Since they've opened we've been there and ordered out way more than I'd like to admit 😆 Their bbq is the best in Charlotte, the Thunderbird Salad is one my favorites and the beer selection is off the charts. Such a great addition to downtown Matthews.

The food is off the hook, if you leave hungry then something is wrong with you. The burgers are so big, so juicy so damn delicious. Mac n Cheese is to die for, fast and friendly service, clean, I can't say enough about how great Mac's Speed Shop is. I know I'll be back, been there before many times and I'll continue to go back.

Good god spicy! I always get ribs at Macs, happened to get a to go order tonight to eat at home, I couldn’t make it through one rib my mouth is on fire. Scraping off the sauce you can see the unreal amount of cayenne/dry rub underneath. Macs you can do better!!!

Savannah is an excellent waitress, sweet and always there filling up beverages. I'm sure the others are good too, but we seem to always get Savannah as our server.
