Deep Creek Lake is a wonderful, relaxing area. It’s got great attractions for tourists, but isn’t crazy touristy. Most of the restaurants are very similar... steak, burgers, chicken, seafood and pizza. While they are all pretty good, they don’t offer much variety. We discovered MoonShadow because we stayed at their sister business, Blue Moon Rising. We were attracted by their menu. They offer inventive foods and drinks... stuff you won’t get anywhere else in the area. They have locally sourced food and drinks. We had Leah as our server. She was extremely knowledgeable and offered great recommendations based on what we liked. We ordered the cauliflower wings as an appetizer. They are flash fried florets of cauliflower, lightly tossed in buffalo sauce served with crumbled gorgonzola and with bleu cheese or ranch. They were fantastic! The sauce was flavorful but not over powering. For entrees we got the ribeye and the mushroom risotto. Both were flavorful and fantastic. Dessert was the vanilla panna cotta with balsamic marinated fruit and toasted almonds. It was very unique and light. They have an area by the bar with live music, but they also have a quieter dining area, if you want a less noisy dining experience. You can still hear the music, but can still hear each other talk. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the experience very much. We will make this a go-to whenever we are in the area.

This place is fantastic. The decor, the bar, the great beers and cider but best of all, our food was outstanding. Our server, Lindsey, could not have been more personable and on top of everything. Just a wonderful find and experience all around.

We were here twice this week and had great experiences both times. The food was creative and well-prepared, the service was friendly and unfussy, and the overall environment was delightful. Can’t recommend this place enough for a break from the pizza/fried food/etc.

I can not say enough about Moonshadow! Not only is the food DELICIOUS and prepared well, the staff is awesome! Everyone in there is so nice. We started going there for the live bluegrass but now it’s our favorite place to eat and go anytime! Highly recommend you check them out!

Two of us had dinner here on a Friday night during a weekend visit to Garrett County. Our server, Claudia, was friendly and attentive but didn't hover. The bar selections are extensive. We enjoyed our beverages. The menu has something for everyone. We shared the fantastic spinach & Gouda dip. Our entrees (rosemary chicken w/ grits & asparagus and bacon cheeseburger w/ fries) were perfectly prepared and delicious. The pumpkin cheesecake was outstanding. Our check was around $60 including tip, very reasonable for the experience.

Love this place! Best food around for sure. Music is always great, atmosphere is friendly, and only brunch to go to in Deep Creek-Mimosas are super quality, also try the KRJ to drink and the chipped beef and toast. They could use some kind of burritos and tacos on their menu, but otherwise 5 stars!

We've eaten at Moonshadow several times before, all great. Our Valentine's dinner couldn't have been better--food and service were exceptional. Love that place!!

We were just down for the day and were pointed in the direction of Moonshadow when we asked for a good place to eat. Great food!! Large portions, beautiful presentation! Everything was “over the moon” delicious! We had the sweetest waitress! There was another table with 3 small children behind us, one of the other waitresses turned on a floor style video game for them. I thought that was the sweetest thing. Great food, wonderful folks, interesting decor and atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I went to Moonshadow for dinner and drinks. We were unsure what to order, but Daniel, our server, gave us wonderful recommendations. Not only were we pleased with the food and drinks, but we were blown away by the impeccable service. We will be returning soon, and we hope to have Daniel as our server again!

Food and scene are awesome. We have a 2 and 5 year is old and the they are all over the place, but the staff is always nice and accommodating. The food and beer selection are good and priced well. I’m Happy they are closer to the lake now!

MoonShadow was like a rich oasis in a barren desert. They were the only restaurant within miles that actually had real food on the menu! I had a green salad with berries and pastured chicken with a berry vinaigrette, and it was delicious! I will definitely return. Great service, too!

My family and I are from the pittsburgh area. We were in deep creek for a little family get away. We stopped here for brunch on Sunday. We absolutely loved the decor! The food was excellent! I especially loved the fries. We had some mimosas which were very yummy. Are server was also very nice and very helpful to us with some information. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be sure to stop at the moonshadow again.

On our post-New Year’s ski trip to the Deep Creek Lake area, we are at Moonshadow twice because we had such a great experience there. The food was delicious (the brussel sprout appetizer I could eat every day); the service was attentive and warm; the atmosphere was fun and casual and welcoming. As tourists in a tourist town, we felt immediately welcomed and at home. We braved -15 windchill temps and snowy roads for one more meal of the steak and brie sandwich! Highly recommended and honestly one of the reasons we would consider returning to the Deep Creek Lake area as a whole.

This is a Gem! And I highly recommend a visit! Food and service were top tier for quality, taste, and timeliness. My salmon was cooked perfectly and the sides and appetizer were delicious. I was there on a weeknight without live music and it was very family friendly. They do have live music often on weekends so I imagine this would be a good spot for some night-life also. They locally source their supplies and make everything in house. As a bonus, they also have many options for dietary restrictions which is a rare find in this coast in rural areas.

I come here fairly often. Service is great. The food is usually good, but the quality is uneven. There's a nice selection on the menu, especially if you're vegetarian or pescatarian, but often they don't have what's on the menu. The plates are seriously overpriced for what you get.

Food 10/10 - awesome cheese burgers, Rueben’s, fries, and jalapeño poppers. Flavor was amazing, presentation was beautiful, and everything was fresh. Service 10/10 - great servers that were very kind, attentive, and pleasant to be around. Atmosphere 8/10 - inside was a bit loud with the music but we loved the outdoor seating.

Right off the bat, I'll say it: If you are coming to their "cafe" for breakfast in the morning, don't. It's a beautiful space but there is no food (beyond a handful of odd scones) until the main restaurant opens at 11. It's weird because breakfast at the lake, especially on Sundays, is a big challenge--Perkins is packed every single morning for a reason (there's a bit of takeout but nobody else but Little Sandy's is open for sit-down breakfast, especially on Sundays). With a few egg sandwiches or something, it would be a perfect solution. But you'll be hungry now. The main restaurant has an amazing brunch on Sundays (again, not until 11, which is odd on a day so many people are checking out of rentals and heading home). Lunch and dinner are very good. Best burger on the lake, bar none. But service is very unpredictable and generally slow. It's comfortable here but you should know you're not popping in and out for a meal. Up the cafe game and life will be good!

Moonshadow Restaurant was a blast. Ate lunch there. Crab dip was excellent in a bread bowl. Inquired about music because they have a stage inside. Made reservations to go back later. They had a live band, Rock Creek Revival, a bluegrass band. What a great show and atmosphere! Food was good, setting was perfect, and live music was great!!😎😎

What a great place! I had the crab dip appetizer and the buffalo cauliflower appetizer. Both were fantastic. My main meal was the mahi mahi. Everything was absolutely delicious. I also give an A+ to the staff and our server. The staff was super.

We came late on a Sunday night, and staff was on top of their game! Two of the four of us had multiple and complicated specific food requests that our server took care of expertly. The menu is delicious and a bit eclectic.

This restaurant is unique and delightful! They have eclectic decor with an interesting piece of art everywhere you turn. Their menu was full of unusual ingredients combined in delicious ways. I tried a unique herbal tea called "Ward off Hades." And Grapple Salad was definitely a winner! They have vegetarian options and hearty meat recipes, comfort foods and gourmet food experiences. I highly recommend this restaurant!

House-made food with options for everybody (fish, meat, GOOD vegetarian options, food for picky kids). Don’t sleep on the cocktails — they’re creative, well-balanced, and tasty. The pork-belly deviled eggs are a treat. Hand-cut fries. Try the buffalo cauliflower. The kids got chicken fingers that were so good the adults stole a few. The rosemary chicken was a winner — really tender and flavorful. Cozy taverny vibe. We’ll be back, and often. It looks like they have live music and nice outdoor seating for when the weather is a little nicer than it was for us.

We had a group of five that really enjoyed all the food we tried. I highly recommend the catfish bites. The only downside was our server was MIA much of the time, then they had to go back and forth to print receipts, forgot her Toast POS handheld, all of which delayed the payment process in addition to forgetting to order a salad for one person. Altogether a pleasant experience and wonderful food.
