Absolutely delicious, this place has been on my bucket list for a long time to visit. Today, I did and we totally enjoyed it. A simple dish like Potstickers was outstanding but the handmade Chinese Sausage was amazing. Followed by Spicy Beef Noodle and Pork Belly was amazing. This restaurant is for true foodies, connoisseurs and aficionados of great food. I highly recommend this unique restaurant.
Don't let appearances fool you, it may look like a hole in the wall, but the food is on point. We got our order in and the waitress/hostess was very helpful for us and another table looking to explore the menu. We had the mapo tofu, hot soup with chicken, pork potstickers and Chinese sausage.
The mapo tofu sauce has a gravy or meat sauce consistency, the tofu is very soft and will easily yield to a little pressure. I liked the spiciness very hot, but didn't chance the devil's spicy, maybe next time.
I'll have to come back another time to try the soup dumplings and beef noodle soup.
I go here regularly - a definite diamond in the rough, tucked away in a quiet corner of McLean.
I usually get the Chongqing Spicy Noodles (mild) and the homemade pork dumplings. And finish it all off with one of my favorite desserts - sesame balls (round sweet rice balls with sweet red bean paste on the inside, sprinkled with sesame seeds on the outside).
Everyone there is very friendly, the food comes out relatively quickly, and I’ve never had a bad experience in an respect.
Definitely worth trying.
A good, small restaurant with unique food. I can't compare it to other Chinese restaurants because it's unique. My family loved the leek pancakes. We also lived the dumplings, and commented they were better than District Dumpling in the Mosaic District. Their onion pancakes were also good, but I prefer the leek. Veggie hot pot was good. I wish they had more chicken options though. Service was friendly, but it took time for them to prepare. Everything was fresh and hot though.
This is authentic spicy Chinese soup. I’ve been looking for a good soup restaurant and this is it. Saw some comments about service and our service was fine but I’m sure bec we caught them on a slow evening. So be ready for not great service. I find some of the better restaurant food comes at the expense of service. The place is small. There is outdoor seating. As Long as you are not in a hurry I say the wait is worth it. I ordered my soup not spicy and it was great. Great beef broth and fat noodles. My wife ordered her soup spicy and more spicy was at the expense of more oil so beware of that.
Love their spicy beef pot! I always come here for that exact dish! It reminds me of boiling pot!
Honestly, you know this place is good when straight up Chinese people come in to sit down and eat here.
I got the Spicy beef hot soup and older sister got the lamb version (not pictured) both medium spicy - it’s literally a personal hot pot. For an Asian who loves spicy foods, the medium spicy was just the right amount of spice and the pot comes boiling hot since there’s a live flame under neath that pot. Also pictured are the dumplings and potstickers — no dipping sauce needed but is available.
This was such a pleasant hole in the wall. You literally come here for the authentic taste of Szechuan cooking. I couldn’t imagine take out doing it justice but I did notice a lot of delivery people coming in to pick up.
This place is Chinese Chinese food......not your beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, general tso's American style Chinese food. The owners are from Cheng Du so the food is spicy in general bit the most DELICIOUS Chinese food I've ever experienced in the DMV. Everything is made from scratch here so wait times are longer than expected from your standard Chinese restaurant so be patient it is totally worth the wait!!!!!!!
I wish I could give this place 6 stars. This place fits a description of a hole in the wall, it's located in an office building. I would never step into in if i wasn't told about it. Ordered some chicken Dan Dan noodles and it sad the best i have ever tried. Nothing about this place is fancy. But if you fancy yourself as a local foodie, it's a must try.
I LOVE this restaurant. The staff always remembers who we are and asks how my family is doing. The food is well-made and filling. Szechwan style food has never been my husband’s favorite (he doesn’t like the numbing), but their take on spice is unique and delicious. We frequently come back for their Monday special - Wonton Soup. We have also had their homemade potstickers and Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. I don’t think you could go wrong with ordering anything on this menu. The two downsides are that it is a bit expensive, and it takes awhile to get service/food. But we are willing to pay a little more for good Chinese food!
Authentic cuisine. Not a lot of pictures menu. Hole in wall style, but very tasty. Very friendly staff and their English is good. Warning, the food is Spicy. Know what you're getting and the experience is better. Personal hotpot.
What a gem in McLean. Delicious food. Soups were out of this world. Also, the ma po tofu was spicy and perfect. The restaurant was small, but had a sizable outdoor seating area. Staff was friendly, but seeming to work through a few kinks. Food makes this place beyond worth it.
The best authentic Chinese food in northern Virginia!
3 1/2 stars, some hot spicy dishes are decent, some are only average, indoor dining area is only ok for deli standard!
