We came to visit friends and they brought us here yesterday, we enjoyed our visit. The food was very good and the margaritas on the rocks were very very delicious, it's a must try! The service was good too, all of us enjoyed our food. I will definitely visit again when I come back to West Melbourne.

The food was delicious and fresh. The service wasn't so great. They seemed pretty overwhelmed.

Great seafood with huge portions. The steak was great also. Had the brownie for desert and was not disappointed. Fun place, not too expensive.

Shells delivers an outstanding dining experience that combines delectable flavors, top-notch service, and a charming atmosphere. A visit here is sure to leave you with a lasting impression and a desire to return for more seafood delights. Highly recommended!

I only regret that we did not discover this gem on the first day of our stay in Melbourne: we had to come here only twice. Everything was perfect: fish, pasta, crab cake and cheesecake. Even their coffee tastes better than usual. Service respectful and fast. Also respect for the photos of each dish on the site.

The BEST seafood experience I've EVER had! And I've traveled a LOT! Everything was perfection and clearly homemade, with LOVE! My husband and I were in Florida (from Jersey) for a memorial service and decided to try Shells on our way to the airport. First, you MUST start with their AWARD WINNING clam chowder - you'll want to take a bucket home. Then we ordered the clam strips that were so plump and perfectly seasoned and the fish and chips. The chips are freshly cut, and fried to perfection, the cod was BIG juicy and flaky and freshly battered to order! Even their iced tea and lemonade was delicious! Oh and the coleslaw...had mandarin oranges in it! We were like " This looks crazy" But when I tell you it was EVERYTHING! Baby just go! Run and take all your friends.

Went to Shells in Melbourne for dinner tonight. First time here. Just WOW! The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing(pictured below), our waitress, Olivia, was spectacular! Made sure we were set, took our orders and didn’t get anything wrong. Definitely a casual diner to bring the family for a great meal in an easy going establishment. Definitely recommend and will be back!

Great local, unassuming restaurant serving up fresh grilled catch of the day. The lunch special is reasonable ($9 to $13 each person), and the portion is fitting for a small Asian guy like me! Most of the locals eat here and most of them are retired white people; so if you are a young Asian guy, you will stick out but who cares! The food is good. The garlic shrimp and seafood pasta is great. Bit oily but flavorful! My bf really enjoyed his Wahoo fish from the Catch of the Day menu. For a huge portion plus my lunch special, we pay less than $45 before tips. Not bad for a vacation meal!

Normally the chowder is really good. On this visit, it was overwhelmingly smoky. Must have been a different cook. Server not a good as we are used to. She may have been new. Crab cakes were very good. Fried shrimp were tasty as usual. Since we are used to having good experiences and very good chowder, we will try it again.

Went on Good Friday, only a 15 minute wait to be seated. The waiter was absentminded for the beginning but finally she got it together.
The food was very good and fresh.

One of best places in Melbourne for seafood...one anomaly. That if you order Oyster on half shell. The waitress has to do the shucking taking her away from her normal waitress duty.. shucking oysters is hard and should not have to perform that duty....I find that unacceptable on Managements part..just saying

My husband and I were in Orlando for an event and decided to drive back to West Palm by going through Melbourne JUST so we could have dinner at Shells.
Shells was my favorite seafood restaurant when they had locations in West Palm Beach and Delray Beach. It had been at least 20-25 years since I’d last dined at Shells and my husband had never been there, I was so excited.
We arrived and upon exiting the car - we realized that at some point during our trip our tire had been sliced and it was slowly tearing apart. Sitting in the parking lot / we called for roadside help and removed the spare from underneath the car. While waiting we walked into the restaurant, quickly explained our situation and asked the hostess if it was possible to use their bathroom to wash our hands while we waited for our assistance to arrive. She replied with an understanding, “Of course!” And even handed us take out waters to take outside with us.
Thirty minutes later, we returned for dinner. We were seated promptly and placed our order: Buffalo shrimp appetizer (which was good just not as good as I remembered), a bowl of gumbo (which was yummy and had a good amount of seafood) and two The Big Easy entrees (which I used to order all the time) and it did not disappoint - it was exactly like I remembered it and I was in heaven. The complimentary bread was also perfectly buttered and toasted.
As we were leaving we thanked the ladies up front and mentioned our two hour trip home on a spare tire. They told us to have a safe trip and to just drive slowly and offered us two cups of water to go. They were the sweetest and in a time of personal frustration they offered kindness.
We had a really great experience - with the exception of the man that raised himself off his bar stool and loudly passed gas in our direction (we were seated at a booth adjacent from the bar). That had nothing to do with the restaurant, the food or the service but it made me decide to never sit behind someone at a bar ever again. Lol.
Thanks for everything Shells staff. :)

First time here. Michelle D. Gave us the best service we’ve had in years. The food was amazing and fair priced. My whole family and my mom loved it. We had a wonderful time. We will definitely be returning.

Great food! I had the lobster, my husband had the lobster pasta! We had a great waiter named mike that even put on gloves to take my lobster apart for me! Great waiter! We shall return many times and recommend this great restaurant! Thank you mike!

We love seafood and have always enjoyed our meals there. Unfortunately, after this last time, we will probably go elsewhere. I do not fault the service or attitude since our server let us know he was on his own and he did great. It was the food. We both had entrees with appetizers plus oysters raw. Out of a $75 meal, the only things we enjoyed were the soup, potatoes and coleslaw. There are other places in the county that serve the same food that we know we enjoyed better.

Awesome raw oysters and oyster Rockefeller, fresh from Texas and good sized. And everyone knows the clam chowder can't be beat! Hubby had the fish and chips as usual and is never disappointed. Large portion of fried cod, always crisp fries and the only cole slaw he loves!

Shells is probably the best place for the best seafood.
The service is excellent and the food outstanding, with plenty to choose from.

Oysters on the half shell are served perfectly and are delicious. Have had them other places and these have them beat (not to mention the price on Wednesday is only $12.99 a dozen). The cioppino is fully loaded with seafood as promised. Wait service very efficient. Will always recommend this restaurant to others.

I love Shells ! I used to eat at the location in Daytona for many years. We have many great memories of family dinners and special occasions there. Now we have to drive to Melbourne, but it's worth it. The food and the service were good. Will definitely go back.

Food was delicious service was horrible from the older woman hostess who was extremely rude, to our server who could have cared less waiting on us. Older woman who was also a server stopped at our table more then our server, wish we had got her instead.
Roberta Hood
Nice friendly place and the food was good too!! "They make the best clam chowder"
