Dined in with my wife. We were first-time visitors. We really liked the atmosphere and the crowd that patroned the place. We sat in the bar area in a corner to ourselves. Our server was Marvin and he was excellent: very friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt to service our every need. The food was good. I had the Maw Maw ravioli and my wife had the grouper. Our only complaint is that on the menu, the ravioli showed to be $18, but when the tab came, it was $36. We had no issue paying, but the discrepancy in price was misleading. Marvin advised us that the dinner portion is double, but the menu said no such thing if my memory serves me correctly. The alcohol beverages we had were well-made. We tried the chocolate sticky toffee dessert, and it was outstanding. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely come again. If you're dining as a couple, expect to spend around $150.
Amazing experience! Started with a Moscow Mule that was perfection as was the atmosphere and our server, Hillary. Caprese was on point - the focaccia and cornbread were a bit on the dry side for me. The pastas were perfect. The milanese could have been sauced a little more or a little more spice action in the breading but it was perfectly cooked and delicious. The steaks and fish were a hit with the rest of the table. We loved the lemon pots de creme and the sticky toffee pudding was heavenly. All in all one of the best dining experiences in Memphis, highly recommend.
Our second visit to AM and hopefully not our last. This place is stunning. The food is just divine. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The pace of the courses was perfectly timed. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. A Memphis Jewel that must be tried by locals and visitors! Like many places in Memphis, parking can be a bit of a nightmare, but they offer valet. We forgot to get pictures of dessert, but I highly recommend the Chocolate Sticky Toffee Pudding, the Lemon Pot de Creme and the Tiramisu. Don't even choose one, get them all! You won't regret it (get them to go).
Refined and hearty Italian. We enjoyed the ambiance, with dim lighting and tasteful decor. Our servers were warm and knowledgeable. Pastas were decently portioned and all dishes were flavorful but a bit over-salted. Best dish we had was the casonsei with butternut squash, brown butter, and sage, which almost gave me flashbacks to a similar dish I had in Bologna — I do wish the sage and brown butter came through stronger, but that might just be my personal preference. Grouper came a close second, nicely seared, and paired well with the cannelini beans. Though, we felt there were some slight quality issues; the middle (and thickest part) was initially undercooked and we had it replaced with another order after letting our server know. On the second time, the grouper was slightly over cooked, likely to ensure it wasn’t undercooked again. Not a big issue as the dish was delicious overall. Rigatoni was enjoyable, with nicely crisped pork belly to contrast the chewy al-dente pasta. Sauce was familiar but elevated with gentle and comforting heat from the serrano peppers and balanced well with some acid. Blue crab on focaccia with what I imagine is either broiled or blow-torched manchego and a creamy sauce was scrumptious; chunky crab meat layered over nicely toasted and buttered focaccia. Manchego was slightly pungent. Definitely a better value for quality and quantity than another high-end restaurant I will not name in the area. As a self-proclaimed garbage disposal machine with a low floor and high ceiling for food, AM is one of the few restaurants I think I’ll revisit in Memphis and would recommend to others.
As always the food was absolutely wonderful. This was a group gathering and we were in a private room. The meal was a four-course meal with choices. The first was a wonderful salad to start. The second choice was either a traditional meat ravioli or a kind of cheesy buttered noodle. Then the main course was a pork or fish. Then for dessert there was a ice cream chocolate cake or tiramisu. It was all absolutely delicious.
We celebrated my best friend’s birthday last night at AM. Everything was perfect! The food was divine and Tabitha made the dining experience so much fun. My friend just raved about the entire experience. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and giving us a truly memorable night.
Very nice upscale restaurant. We went on a Thursday but we could reserve a table beforehand on the same day. The valet parking was complimentary and the service from the staff was impeccable. The food was excellent especially the 'Grouper' fish and the 'Chocolate Sticky Toffee Pudding'. Although the price was a little too much but we were still satisfied because of the overall quality of service. Definitely will come back sometime.
Absolutely perfect experience here for dinner! The waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu, both with food and drinks. The wine menu is huge with many Italian options. The food is excellent - high quality, perfectly prepared, perfect flavor combinations. I highly recommend everything we ordered: the focaccia appetizer, potato gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce, rigatoni in Calabrian chili sugo, pork Milanese, strip steak, and chocolate sticky toffee pudding. I wish I had taken photos, but I was too excited to eat! Can't wait to go back again!
Extremely good. My wife said the best meal she’s possibly ever had. The chicken had a nice crispy skin on it, and the steak was a perfect medium rare. We also had the cornbread which was sweet and the whipped ricotta was so good. Service was good, and we have no complaints! Great wine selection, a few wines from Italy. Waitress was highly knowledgeable about the menu. I highly recommend checking this place out, you will not be dissatisfied!
Our favorite spot for a celebration! We've never had a bad dish, and we've tried so many! If you're feeling adventurous (eg can handle not knowing), try the chef's tasting menu. Even better--add the wine pairing. Delightful! The bar is also beautiful and more low key if you're dining solo or didn't think to make a reservation.
Great place for a romantic dinner! The food is fabulous and authentic. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
A friend/co-worker recommended Andrew Michael to me and it did not disappoint! I had the AM breakfast which was absolutely terrific and super unique. I’ve never had a dish like that. The polenta had more texture than I’ve had before and it worked perfectly! The Maw Maw ravioli was also terrific. Only thing better than the food was the service. I’ve got to give credit to Zo (sorry if I spelled that wrong) who was my server/bar tender. He knows the menu well and helped me decide between a few different food/wine options. I will definitely be back here next time I’m in town!
Two of us went to Andrew Michael for a business dinner and spontaneously decided to do the tasting menu. They served us five courses that were all very unique in flavor. The duck was very well prepared with a crispy skin. The pasta dish was an amazing combination of sweet, savory and acidic. My only complaints would be that the portion sizes were relatively small, and that the course pacing was much too slow and we had to wait for significant periods of time between dishes.
Exceptional dining experience. Ro provided wonderful service. The food was top notch! The atmosphere was peaceful, quiet, and beautiful.
Andrew Michael is a classical Italian restaurant in a homey setting. The menu is broken up into different small dishes, appetizers, and main dishes. There are some items that are staples, and many that rotate seasonally. One of the staples, the A&M Breakfast, was by far my favorite dish at Andrew Michael. The “spin rosso polenta” was superbly delicious, the pork belly was rich, fatty, and slightly Smokey. The egg was just cooked enough to hold its shape, but then melt over the dish when popped. The chicharrones were not to my preference, and were a bit too smokey and crunchy. Otherwise, this was an outstanding dish.
Other noteworthy items that I tried include the Focaccia bread, Rigatoni pasta, and the Yellowfin Tuna dish.
Without a doubt, Andrew Michael is the best restaurant in Memphis. Housed inside a cozy, converted home, their menu is always experimental and evolving, while managing to feel familiar and comforting. Their service is top notch and the homemade pasta is always a highlight. Executive Chefs Michael Hudman and Andrew Ticer have build something to last, a restaurant as consistently good as (if not better than) most of the James Beard and Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve dined at.
Great atmosphere, food was way beyond anything we could have prepared at home. Definitely next level dining. Perfect date night.
We celebrated my birthday here! Our server Will was most gracious, offering me several birthday acknowledgements. The food was awesome as well!
What a special meal. Chef Dan is preparing delicious and creative fare. From starters to dessert, top experience
