My only complaints are that it took me asking twice to get a condiment bought to the table, and they were sold out of an appetizer.
We had a reservation but still had a 10-minute wait for our table.
Overall experience was excellent, The food was outstanding. The waitress checked on us often, but not too often.
I would definitely go here again.
WALK OFF HOME RUN!!
We love Houston’s and have eaten here for decades. Since the kids left home for college, though, we just haven’t eaten here as much. Today we grabbed lunch here because it is a federal holiday and I’m off work.
For a starter we ALWAYS get the spinach and artichoke dip. This is a Houston’s legendary recipe. It’s creamy with great chips and even homemade salsa.
I had the gulf coast fish sandwich and it was amazing. Crispy breading, killer slaw, and solid bun. I’ve eaten this sandwich the last dozen times I’ve eaten here. I also had the creamed corn for a side and it was great as well.
My wife had the crispy chicken sandwich, which is similar to their previously sold all-time entree, chicken tenders. Yes, the chicken tenders Houston’s used to serve were to die for. There are groups of people who would eat lunch here for the chicken tenders alone, and when Houston’s stopped serving the tenders, the group boycott the place. She had a side of fries which were good but they changed the recipe years ago and the new ones aren’t as good. But hey, they’re french fries.
Exceptional service by Courtney today. Houston’s is known for outstanding service every single time.
We look forward to returning.
Truly a restaurant that is worth every star. I went for my birthday. When I went in it was an experience like no other. It is worth every penny. The services were great the Food was great. The atmosphere was great as well as the privacy at each table was great. If you are looking for a place to take someone special then please try Houston's. My daughter as a toddler enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip and chips. The steaks are delicious and perfectly made along with the sides.
It’s been over 20 years since our last visit and it was worth ever minute and every penny spent. Last visit was with my brother who passed in 2011 so it was bittersweet. Not sure why we hadn’t been but more than likely not wanting to deal with the emotions (good and bad). However, Max our server, Alex the GM and the entire team we encountered made our lunch exciting and memorable. The chili was a delicious (didn’t take a picture) starter. Then I had the trout with dirty rice and my better half the chicken salad both were exceptionally delicious! Old fashions and cosmopolitans complemented our meal nicely. Definitely a must stop next time we’re in Memphis!
We had the smoke salmon appetizer, both had margaritas, followed by the knife and fork ribs and prime rib with au jus. IT WAS PHENOMENAL. Our server, Phillip, was absolutely amazing as well. I legit could have put him in my pocket and taken him home! Well worth the $170, Would definitely recommend!
Food is always great. The Hawaiian ribeye is my all-time favorite steak. Its so good I didn't think about a pic until I was almost finished
A restaurant worthy of 5 stars. Sophia was are waitress, who did an excellent service with a smile. I had the Ruby Red Trout and it was excellent. All the foods that were tried was not a disappointment. The artichoke dip is the best I have ever tasted in any restaurant. A must have for your appetizer. You may want to order another one for take home as well. The service and the food was superb.
Perfect for a date night or just a night out with family or friends! Service was top tier! As a first-timer, I asked several servers about their favorite dish and there were mixed reviews. I went with the all timer favorite spinach dip and the prime rib. The spinach dip was just like any other restaurant to me. The prime rib was cooked to perfection...very moist and seasoned well! The lemon drops were delicious and a hit!
Houston's is a perfect choice to enjoy a great Steak in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. One of the Old School favorites.
I have been going there for years, love the food, atmosphere and service. My sister and I had lunch there recently and one our servers took my plate and did not ask if I was finished. I probably had 1 or 2 bites left, but I would have eaten them. My sister wasn't finished and a waitress came by and just swooped up her plate, my sister said I'm not done so she put the plate back down. A few minutes later a waiter came by and had his had on her plate when she said I am still not finished. Neither as if she was done and they both had their hands on her plate, which I found disturbing.
