My family came in on sudden notice and they had to contend with a party of 27!! They were very accommodating and patient with us!!! We had to wait a few minutes to seat us all together but it was worth it!! The food and drinks were great!! Everything came out hot on heated plates and my family had a great time!! We were celebrating my mother’s birthday and they even chilled the cake for us!! The servers were prompt and very attentive!! I would not only recommend this place to anyone I plan to visit again myself!! Thanks for making my mother’s party a memory she will never forget!!!
Matt, our server was awesome! Best service I even expected from any server. Foods were great. All meats were tender and delicious. Flat and Pie satisfied my sweet tooth craving.
The chimichangas and salsa was delicious. Our waiter was informative and very friendly. The decor in the restaurant was very impressive....especially the picture of Frida. I loved the atmosphere and cleanliness. I would definitely recommend Abuelos to my friends
Went here today with my grandmother and it was great! Everyone was really friendly, from the host to our server, Brianna! :) She was really nice and polite! Also, the food was so good too! Highly recommend their avocado sauce!
Very nice is I expected I enjoyed myself At the one in Wichita Kansas and I had to come to the one in Memphis since I live here really great service and they are way better than expected
Our server, Melissa was wonderful! The food was excellent.
My first time at Aubelos. Food was excellent, service fabulous. Only had one waitress for our large group and she was Fantastic!
Excellent service, we had a new trainee wait on our table of 4. He was polite, very helpful and eager to provide service. Our food was prompt, delicious and well proportioned. The kiosk devices need to go away, their a nuisance when they don’t work!
My meal was delicious. Abuelo's is an upscale resturant with great service. This time I ordered their seafood tacos. The tacos were made of spicy shrimp, cabbage, shaved carrot, cilantro and mango relish. My sides were the lime rice and black beans.
I had a fantastic meal. The beer was cold, the chips good but a little small. The chips were served with three sauces, fire roasted, green and regular. I wish they had been in a larger bowl and I needed a little more with my meal. I had two enchiladas, one beef and the other chicken. It was served with rice and beans. The enchiladas were rolled per order and very good. The service was fast and friendly. I will be back on my next trip.
Abuelo's is a very unique Mexican dining experience. Not your typical Mexican food that you get at other restaurants. I ordered the Sautéed Chicken Zucchini with the Charro Beans and Mexican Rice. It was delicious and perfectly portioned for lunch. The salsa is also a treat.
Best Mexican Food in Memphis!. If you have to pick one Mexican restaurant in all of Memphis to try, this is the one! I have been at several different times and have never (dinner, lunch, mid-afternoon, weekends, week-nights) EVER had to wait to be seated. The service is always superb and the servers are helpful with any menu questions.
The building interior itself is unique, with mosaics on the walls and authentic music. It is fancier than most Mexican places, I recommend more than just a t-shirt and shorts, but if you come at lunch you wouldn't be under-dressed.
You get every penny's worth for your food - I always leave stuffed even after splitting entrees with my husband. I highly recommend the habenero salsa (you have to request it, but it is free) for you spice-loving people out there, and with any entree I suggest trying the papas (potatoes). If you are a dessert person I prefer the margarita pie & flan. I have never had a bad meal there!
Great Mexican Food. Stopped by Abuelo's for lunch and was greeted with fresh tortilla chips and homemade salsa. We ordered the Queso appetizer and it was flavorful and good. I tried the Fajita Steak Tacos, with creamed spinach and redskin mashed potatoes. Not your usual beans and rice at this place. The spinach was awesome and I would have liked it for both of my sides. The potatoes were good also but the spinach was better. The tacos were very good witht the correct balance of meat and toppings. This is mexican food kicked up a notch.
I love Abuelo's! Great food, an upscale atmosphere, and excellent service every time I've been. I love their chicken quesedillas, and normally am not a fan of guacamole but LOVE theirs. Highly recommended!
Loved the Veracruz Pescado. Fresh tasting and just enough spice. The waitress even offered to downsize my portion order. Very nice.
I'm a fan of Abuelo's. It took me a while to give in and see what it was all about because I always heard it was overpriced. Their lunch menu isn't anymore expensive than your average Mexican restaurant and, to me, goes beyond the norm. I don't find it to be a "Mexican cuisine" but rather a good TexMex meal that will have you leaving full. Their salsa is good, especially if they bring you out a bowl of the hotter kind with it and you mix the two together. The atmosphere is always as warm as their plates and I've never had bad service here. 2 of us left after a Sunday lunch completely stuffed for under $15. That's hard to beat!
Don't let the hostess put you off. Good food, well presented. Service is good, but their hostesses are consistently cold and not welcoming, if not downright rude.
Enjoy Good Mexican Food. My wife and I eat here every couple of months and always enjoy it. The wait staff are always courteous and attentive. The food is flavorful without an over abundence of "hot" spices or celantro. Servings are plentiful. We always are excited whenever we realize we'll be in that part of town for a "lunch out". Give them a try and I think you'll agree this is an "up scale" excellent Mexican restaurant with a fine atmosphere and delicious food.
We liked it. But didn't love it. We had a pitcher of beer, chips, queso and the fajita trio. Definitely pricier than your local Mexican eatery, but not notably better.
Not your average Mexican. If you like a step up from the usual yellow rice/refried beans/taco-enchilada-fajita fare, get yourself into this place. The menu is more healthy, less average, more item selective than other places in the area, and it offers choices for everyone from light eaters to chowhounds. They offer a larger bar menu than the average 4 margarita choices you see everywhere else, and I have never had enough room left to order dessert.
Favorite. Abuelos is not only my favorite mexican restaurant, but my favorite restaurant period. The atmosphere couldn't be better and the service is always excellent. The queso and guacamole are the best. I always get the Sonora and thankfully there's always enough for leftovers the next day. This is fresh tex-mex at its best! Once you try it, you'll never want to go to another mexican restaurant
Late lunch. I ate there today. I had the Fajita Trio and I must say it was awesome. The waiter was very prompt and cordial. Nice atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone that likes Mexican food.
Coastal Mexican. The atmosphere is serene, with a handpainted sky ceiling in the main dining area. High backed booths afford diners privacy. The menu is a blend of tex-mex style with more rural/coastal dishes. Big portions and nicely presented meals. Service is usually very good. It can get crowded during peak times, so expect a wait if you go at those times.
Best Mexican dishes I've ever tasted. The blackberry mint mojito was good. El Jefe was great. My server Connor was very knowledgeable and helpful as a server. That green salsa with the pineapple shaving was special. This was the first time I've ever finished a bowl of Tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant. And I almost finished two bowl. That roasted red pepper salsa was sublime.
Best Mexican I've had! Nice appetizers, including multiple salsas that come with free nachos. Fresh tortillas come with the fajitas, the tasty BBQ shrimp and chicken fajitas featured fresh veggies. Homemade ranch sauce a great plus for salad eaters. Mushroom appetizer very good. I'm not a fan of their beans (more soup than refried). Service was a bit slow at the bar, but a nice and professional staff.
The staff here is especially nice and willing to go the extra mile to ensure your get the best service possible. Even if they are 20 minutes to close and you walk in the door. The food was exceptional and had an authentic flavor you don’t find at most Tex-Mex restaurants. I will come here again!
First time! I was very impressed. I will definitely go back. Waiter was very informative. I hate a waiter who doesn't know their menu.
Update:
I still like this place! Quality in restaurants has four sure give down due to COVID but my food was delicious. I will continue to visit this restaurant.
We went tonight and it was excellent as always. Our waiter Scott is the best. He remembers and he always takes such good care of our needs. This is excellent tasting food in a great atmosphere 👌
WoW! Unbelievably great food with quality service. Not out first trip here, but among the best. Go for the Mexican food and stay for everything else.
Food and drinks were great. Nice atmosphere. And always get the potatoes as your side. They are excellent!
Can't never go wrong in this restaurant with the food is always so good and plenty of portions to take home. Customer service on the bar section seems to be declining.
The food here is delicious and our server Melissa was wonderful. I ordered the Grande Burrito and it was definitely a big one (my hand is in the picture for scale). I highly recommend this place.
This is one of the first Mexican restaurants that I would actually suggest you try. Ask for Melissa when you go, she is a wonderful waitress, she took care of me and my wife. The food was great as well, make sure to try the port tenderloin, it's to die for.
Pretty tasty food, really great queso dip! Menu has solid variety. Restaurant is casually elegant and clean. Our server wasn't very attentive which is why I only gave 4 stars.
Good service and good food! Always a pleasant experience and some of the best Mexican food Memphis has to offer.
Bartender was awesome don't know what his name was got our orders right and was timely considering he was by self

Great food, excellent waiter and the atmosphere is top notch. My wife had the brisket tacos and I had the Sea Bass. Will be back SOON!
The food is soooo incredibly amazing!!! Its food that I grew up eating we will definitely be going there again!!
Our server Melissa was awesome! Food was great!
Good atmosphere. The food was good. Prices were just a little higher than comparable Mexican restaurants
