After being seated we waited for 15 minutes for a server to even come to our table. However, once we brought that to the attention of the hostess, we were served immediately and the rest of our night was lovely. It’s a steakhouse vibe, the food is delicious, and the lobby of the Peabody is a great place to stop before or after dinner to have a drink and listen to music/pianist.
It was his birthday and so we got us a treat here. It was Saturday and we got the earliest available time 12:15 for brunch. We arrived on time, and parked our car in a parking garage, right opposite to it. They might have their own valet service as well. On arrival they treated us well and got us the table which was already arranged. We started with water- and then I got some coffee while he got the tea. The tea was pretty usual, where as the coffee was quite good. They served a whole pot (French press) of coffee. With this there was freshly baked biscuit. The biscuits were house baked, glazed on top and quite big in size. They have a several stuff to serve with it. I opted for strawberry preserve and he got some lemon curd. Both were great, and we enjoyed our biscuits. Our server was quite charming and got us the food we choose. For the first course I opted for the ham and bread ( they have some fancy name for it though), and he got the bagel with smoked salmon. The ham was savoury, and a little hard. It was great altogether with the bread and a hint of mustard ( or something? ) with a side of cantaloupe. Overall, it was quite fancy. Moving on in the second course, I asked for the chicken and waffle, while he got shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits was very hearty and comfy meal altogether. It was quite filling with cheesy grits and shrimps on top.honestly, waffle and chicken was a total flop I would say. It was very basic. The waffle was just like what you get in waffle house. The three boneless chicken fries also could be way more better. They were crunchy from outside, and moist inside. However, they were very sour in taste. What did they put? Too much vinegar or something? Whatever, they need to work on it. Finally, the show stoppers arrived - desserts. They have some three tiered trays with three different pastries. All bite sized- and decent in taste. I liked the chocolate ganache tart most. It was more like what you get in whole foods, nothing extraordinary! Overall, it was nice however, ample room for betterment was there. Overall, the food was pretty decent, and flamboyant. But there is some x factor missing which we expected in upscale place like this. Nevertheless, I recommend it. 46$ per head is too reasonable for such a fare. I will return surely.
We came here for our anniversary recently and the experience was amazing! Our waitress, Dory, was very attentive of our needs and made great suggestions. Our glasses were never empty the entire time we were there! The food was fantastic. We got "The Bread Experience" which was such a fun idea! You get to try several different breads with your choice of spreads to go with it. I highly recommend it - especially if you are in a large group, it would be a fun starter. The spaghetti and ravioli we got were both wonderful as well. The cafe full of desserts across the hall made the meal perfectly rounded. Couldn't recommend this place enough.
I would give 4.5 out of 5; if it were an option. Of all the restaurants that I patronized during my stay in downtown Memphis this was the best dinner I experienced. Nice quiet ambience, knowledgeable server who engaged me, good wine, cooks who cared about what served. French Onion Soup to start. My scallops were cooked to perfection. Creme Brulee to finish. Don't let the prices scare; the food and service are worthy. Well done!
Perfect place to go to if you need a quick bite to eat. We dine here for breakfast and dinner on numerous occasions. They do validate parking if you dine here. The prices are reasonable and the service is pretty quick. Breakfast is on a walk-in basis but dinner may require a reservation. We had the Elvis Smoothie, Ham and cheese omelette, a cappuccino as well as a egg and bacon croissant. The breakfast potatoes are absolutely delicious. I had their Challah French toast on a previous visit and i highly recommend it.
Delicious food! EXCELLENT SERVICE! It was a very busy Saturday night..I did not have reservations and they were VERY kind and got me a table..the food is wonderful! The stairway to Heaven...yum! Desserts EXCELLENT. I couldn't decide so I got two!
Capriccio Grill is a must visit restaurant for delicious food in a relaxed setting. I want to start with calling out our server David. He did a superior job managing our table; checking in with us just enough and with impeccable timing. Josh and I started with the fried oysters and tbh anything fried served with a cream sauce can’t be beat. The second course was a classic caprese salad because we love it and we needed to feel like we were at least attempting to be healthy. All of the ingredients were very fresh and just enough of each complimentary flavor. The grand finale was the dish ‘An Evening with Jack’ and Jack did more than satisfy. It’s served with steak, pork and shrimp. It was all fabulous but the pork was especially on point. We paired it with creamed spinach and risotto. Both sides were top notch. The menu had so many choices it was hard to narrow it down but we couldn’t have been happier and look forward to coming back!
The vegetable frittata is unbelievable and the sugar and spice coffee!!!!!!!! You gotta try this! Fast service. Opens early. Inside and outside dining. ❤️ I’m a fan
Our last meal of a 4 night trip to Memphis was a perfect breakfast at Capriccio Grill (A steak-house at night…) at the historic Peabody Hotel. They service a modest breakfast buffet (not to be confused with the more grand-brunch buffet served on Sundays elsewhere in the hotel) which has all the basic breakfast items you need, done really well (unlike the same offerings at other hotels breakfast buffet which can seem a bit stale.)
This includes made to order egg and omelette dishes made in the kitchen at your request. The buffet itself had nice crispy biscuits (well done as biscuits sitting in a warming container in other buffets get a bit unpleasant after a while) BIG potato wedges, fruit and well done grits.
The star for me was the coffee which was brought to table in a large French press. This was bold and excellent. Way too often at basic breakfast restaurants, the coffee is mediocre tasting and not strong enough. It was perfect here.
Also also, they’ll do waffles for kids AND Kids eat free!!!! (That really rocked for us as we had 2 kids in the party!
My gluten free wife also appreciated the availability of gluten free toast.
This was a great, upscale breakfast experience…from the food to the service. We’re vegetarians so we probably wouldn’t pop in here for dinner…but this is a great spot for a really nice, upscale, breakfast buffet with basic offerings, and a great excuse to go into the fantastic and fun lobby of the Peabody hotel if you’re not already staying here.
This place was absolutely amazing, from breakfast to dinner... I'm not going to say I'm hard to please but I like what I like and they hit EVERY mark! From the staff to the delicious food, everything was perfect 🥰
It was good. My daughter had the Shrimp and Grits, I had the Braised Short Rib. The short ribs were very tender and well seasoned!
Fantastic dinner all around. I love sea bass and it was prepared and presented nicely. Dessert was duck themed, but it is The Peabody!
Everything was perfect. Service (Molly) was excellent. Food was delicious. The Mississippi Mud Pie Dessert was awesome. Thank you for a great dinner
