The greatest!!! Tom told me we could go to the top of the pyramid or wherever I wanted to eat and I instantly said “Mot and Ed’S”. Had the sweet potato fries with their honey mustard sauce they are the bomb!! The onion and bacon stuffed burger is the best
Mot & Ed’s is home away from home. From the anticipation for mouth watering soul food, to the atmosphere. You’ve got to check out the open mic on Tuesday also. The Okra & Black eyed peas is my favorite but that turkey stuffed burger is on my radar!
Wish i could give this place more stars. Showed up on a class trip with a group of 19 and they were nothing but welcoming and served all of us without compliant. Edna and Joyce were sooo hospitable. Theyll make ya feel like a regular. Even if the service wasnt as putstanding as it was; i would still return next time im in memphis for the best burger i ever had! Thanks again edna and joyce!

The Best stuffed turkey burger this side of heaven! OMG you talking about seasoned and moist! Everything on the menu is delicious from the fried green tomatoes to the hot water cornbread! Excellent customer service. It's worth the wait.

It's like eating at your Mimi's house! Edna cooks to order and it shows. Just go in willing to be patient for the food - it is so worth it.

This place has a very laid back atmosphere. You can customize your burger by picking the fixings you want inside and on top of your burger. The food was great, especially the sides.
The service is a bit slow but the food is very good. We had a kid's burger (very well seasoned), the fried chicken with yams and cabbage and the fried fish with Mac and cheese and greens.
My brother recommended this place. I missed out during Black Restaurants Week so since I was off, I decided to go for lunch. It's a soul food type restaurant but I like how there are a lot of choices in case you don't want to eat anything super heavy. I also met the manager while I was there. She was very friendly.
The menu is posted on the wall. Different from getting a menu, but ok. You get a meat and 2 sides. I got the blackened catfish with yams and greens. There is a wait since everything is made fresh but it was really good! The fish was seasoned perfectly and I liked that the yams weren't syrupy sweet and the greens weren't drowned in meat. The cornbread reminded me of hoecakes. It was ok.
The only thing I didn't like was that I didn't know how much my meal cost until I got my bill. I didn't see it on the board. My lunch was about $10, standard price for a lunch, but the menu price wasn't listed on the board. That should be posted.
Just about everything is cooked to order, so be mindful and call ahead if possible. With that said, DELICIOUS stuffed burger. DELICIOUS fried chicken and LOVELY lima beans. Edna is such a sweet lady, and will cater to your specific requests if she can. I love this place.
Great food and friendly staff. Best turkey burger ever. Had the fresh turkey burger stuffed with fresh spinach and mushrooms with Swiss cheese, which came out perfect; moist , dense and cooked to perfection. Edna's mac n cheese is fantastic. A hint of spice with five different types of cheese.
Don't forgot to try the Creme Coconut cake that Edna's mom makes from scratch. Moistest cake I've ever eaten and delicious. Could not ask for better service and prices. Edna and Joyce make you feel right at home and like family. We will be sure to make this a weekly dining spot.

Wow. Just wow. So, it's not in a great part of town but who cares? Edna is such a sweetheart, she made me want to ask her to adopt me and take me home. My burger was delicious and juicy and tender and everything. Just heavenly. I like the groove of the place. I LOVE Ms. Ed. I have found a new place.

Great stuffed burgers! Angus or turkey burgers stuffed your way. You can stuff it with cheese, sautéed mushrooms, roasted peppers, grilled onion, fresh spinach, bacon or jalapenos.
I keep it simple when it comes to burgers and I like beef. So I asked Ed (Edna) to stuff my Angus burger only with cheese and add lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise as toppings. Ed went over the top and stuffed my Angus patty with American, cheddar, provolone and feta cheese.
My dining companion had hers stuffed with grilled onion, mushrooms and cheese.
Both burgers were well seasoned, juicy, tender and delicious.
We shared a basket of onion rings. While not homemade, they were very good and fried crisp and clean. No old oil here.
Mot & Ed's also offers a tempting soul food menu that I would love to try if I can get past ordering that damn good stuffed burger again.
Ed was very charming and she made us feel so welcome. She told me her turkey burger might even convert a beef burger purist like me.
Definitely a place to put in your wish list.

I don't what y'all have heard but Mot & Eds has the "best burgers" in Memphis PERIOD....I am taken back by couple of the negative comments on this review!!! Clearly some people don't know the difference between "fast food" and "gourmet" burgers. I have had great service every single time. Sometimes I even order in advance for pick up! I can't believe none of the other blogs has not showcased her famous "turkey burger"... AMAZING!!! The fried chicken (can't get enough). I won't event talk about the strawberry banana pudding and the coconut cream cake (with its unique five day preparation process). Edna's recipes are undeniably prepared with love and to perfection! I am going gather about five of my friends and have dinner there next Saturday and enjoy the dim lights, smooth jazz and awesome meal!
Awesome suffed burgers! Ms. Ed was extremely friendly and made the experience a positive one. I would definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic!. If we're eating out, we try to support local restaurants as much as possible and this place was less than a mile from home, so it was ideal. It was a gem of a find when we took a chance in going there the first time. Admittedly, we ventured in with a Groupon in hand, but we've been hooked ever since, trying to get in every week or two as time allows. Edna is incredibly personable and goes out of her way to interact with her customers, making them feel welcome and right at home. Not to mention, she's a great cook!
At this point, we've tried just about everything on the menu I think. I've never been that big on eating greens, but with Edna's I get them every time. I also like to get an additional side, switching it up with each visit so I can give anything new a try. The entrees I keep going back to are the fried Swai or the stuffed Angus burger with everything, both of which are fabulous. The sweet tea is fresh brewed so it's perfect for washing everything down. To round out your meal, don't forget to ask about the delicious, homemade desserts. From what I understand, Edna's mom makes some of them. I'm partial to the chocolate chess pie.
Bottom line: If you're looking to get a rush meal for lunch, this may not be the place for you. Mot & Ed's isn't a fast food joint. It's a casual, sit down restaurant where Edna herself prepares the food, taking great pride in serving fresh, made-to-order meals. This means it may take longer than what some are accustomed to but is well worth the wait. Personally, I like being able to go there and relax, taking the time to enjoy our meal and the company of whoever's there with us. These days, too many restaurants give off the rush, rush, rush vibe where you feel as if they're waiting for you to leave so they can get the next customers into your seats. You won't get that kind of attitude at Mot & Ed's. If you're ever in the Midtown area looking for somewhere new to eat, definitely give Edna a try.
I absolutely love this place the burgers are mouthwatering her porkchops are to die for and she's a very kind hearted women you should definitely come grab a bite to eat but her porkchops are mine!!!!!!!!! lol jk
The Stuffed Turkey is to die for. It's perfectly seasoned and will literally melt in your mouth. If you haven't visited this restaurant, go now. The owner is such a sweet and friendly woman. She will stop at nothing to please her customers and make sure they leave full and satisfied.
EXCELLENT!. Mot & Ed's serves some of the best food in Memphis. In my opinion, the fried catfish is some of the best I've ever had, especially in Memphis. Fried okra, yams, hot water cornbread, homemade fries, turkey burger - everything I've had at Mot & Ed's has been amazing.
Another thing I love about visiting Mot & Ed's is visiting with Edna, the owner. She is a kind, caring woman, and she takes great pride in her work. That says a lot!
Spend some time at Mot & Ed's. You won't be disappointed.

Please don't sleep on this one!! You'll enjoy every bite!! I've tried almost everything on the menu and everything I've tried has been wonderful. I stop by on the regular to get my vegetables.
"Ed's" stuffed burgers are an absolute pleasure! I get them stuffed with everything and two cheeses. Check out their ever changing and exceptional desserts too.

Delicious and absolutely awesome!. This is my new favorite restaurant! The stuffed and regular turkey burgers are amazing! The home cut fries are scrumptious! Ms. Edna is sweet, loving and welcoming! The atmosphere is always peaceful and the service is exquisite. The soul food and desserts are also sinfully savory. And she has the best events going on all the time! I'm at Mot and Ed's at least 2 times a week and its always my favorite place to be! Great sound system and wifi connection! I love Mot & Ed's!
This is perhaps the best kept secret in Memphis! I do my best to get here once a week to get a stuffed Angus or Turkey burger. My son loves it here and Edna makes all her food with love. I recommend everyone that I know to come here and have the best food in the city!

Absolutely the BEST FRIED OKRA and sauteed squash I have ever had. You are cheating yourself if you never eat there. I cant wait to try more food. Plus the owner is so sweet and humble. :-)

BEST BURGER EVER. Hands down. (Had the stuffed turkey burger; husband had the stuffed angus burger...both custom stuffed with our choices upon order. I had the crispy light-battered okra; he had the fried fresh cut potatoes. Homemade Strawberry-banana pudding and chess pie. Both absolute heaven.)
We were passing through Tenn and detoured to try this place we found on Urbanspoon. SO glad we did! I can't say enough about this little gem. Fresh. Southern. Home made. Tonight I had the Stuffed Turkey Burger (Jalapenos, Bell Peppers, Bacon) topped with Swiss Cheese. I do not think I have ever had anything like it. She told us she knew just how to cook it where it doesn't get dry (a common Turkey Burger complaint). That thing is in a league of its own.
Mot & Ed's. Go there with a patience to enjoy the atmosphere and love of a wonderful cook. Hungry Belly too :)
Great southern/soul food. Friendly proprietor, delicious food. Sounds basic (yams, cabbage, corn, greens, potatoes, chops, burgers, fish) but it is all seasoned and flavored so well that it raises everyday foods to heavenly status. I had stuffed turkeyburger (onions/jalapenos) which may have been the best burger I have ever had, and I love burgers. Fried corn (sauteed with butter, peppers, onions) and mashed potatoes (made with real potatoes, butter salt, pepper-delicious simplicity) were my chosen sides. My wife had a grilled pork chop (seasoned with rosemary and other herbs) with greens and squash. I passed on the yams, cabbage, and peas since I had been eating those at home, but at a neighboring table the yams looked delicious, although I resisted the urge to steal a sample. Try the raspberry tea. Near the hospitals and on the trolley line. Am looking forward to my next visit.
I'm not sure if it's the best chopped steak ever I had, but it's better than anything that I've eaten in long time.
Even though I'm somewhat of a foodie, I rarely seek out a place for burgers. My cousin was visiting from St Louis and insisted I try this place. We all ordered different variations of stuffed burgers and they were amazing! Also loved the were both standard and non traditional sides like mac and cheese or fried okra. They have other soul food dishes, but it would be a dis-service to not try the stuffed burgers. Not to mention that everyone is so super friendy. A definite must-try!

Holy Cow! It was so good.
Our party of four ordered a stuffed turkey burger with mac and cheese, grilled chicken with fries, smothered chop with fried green tomatoes, blackeyed peas and cornbread, and blackened fish with yams, greens and cornbread. It was all very good.
It was all so good. It's like we stopped over for a home-cooked meal by Edna.
Edna came out and talked to us. I showed her my spotless bowls and plate and told her "This is my review".
Edna tells us she just finished a coconut a cream cake. We got the first slice of the day. The four of us savored every bite.
It was after the lunch crowd and she stayed and talked to to us for 20 minutes. Told us about cooking from her mom's recipes and grandma's recipes.
It's a part of a trip we will fondly remember.
Place was fantastic!!! Yes it was a wait but definitely worth the wait! I got the stuffed angus burger with mac and cheese stuffed inside. And had coconut cream cake with was homeade as well as everything else. Wish i could give this more stars. Definitely will be back!!!
Tried first time the other day and what sweet friendly women they have there. Could have stayed just hanging out with them all day. I ordered the single Angus burger and fry and couldn't be happier. Fresh and delicious with great seasoned steak fries. I'll definitely be back. I need top try the smothered pork chops. The soul food section looks terrific.

This is a special find while looking for a soul food restaurant! A local spot, friendly service. Their staple signature meal is the Turkey or Angus Stuffed burger! Try it you will thank me later!😊😋
This place is definitely something, in a good way. The burgers were amazing! Had the angus one with everything (except jalapeños) with cabbage... it was really good. Everything looks homemade, is quite cozy... now, the whole meal was an experience for sure, first there was this guy playing the guitar and behind the counter there’s a bunch of paper (looks like an office back there)... the service was truly slow (the server apologized in several opportunities, but tbh it didn’t matter, I was fine with that) but the food was so totally worth it!. Definitely recommended.
And finally but not least, the price!! Omg!! So cheap... it was $10 for a stuff burger with one side. Wow
This is true southern food! Delicious is the best way I can describe my smothered pork chops, cabbage, fried okra and the hot water cornbread. All my food was fresh and hot. I was a bit frustrated and disappointed about the wait because we waited over a hour. Once I received my food all I could say was Mmm Mmm Good! I also learned you can order ahead,so they can prepare it while your on your way. Amazing hidden gem.

I don't understand why the negative reviews, if you want fast food go to McDonald's! Food was fresh cooked to order and oh my goodness it was definitely worth the wait! Blackened catfish was excellent, greens were mouth watering, the cornbread the BEST I've had in over 10 years, since my mawmaws! This is a true Southern food for your soul restaurant! Best meal I've had in 10+ years, the hospitality shown was also amazing. Stuffed burgers were also really, really good! Oh and the sweet tea, ooh wee! Definitely our new spot to eat. It is hot in the building but its worth it!
