Service was excellent. I had a steak salad (the Black and Blue), and the steak was well seasoned and cooked correctly to order (medium rare). Prices were great; I basically got a steak with a side salad for $12.95.
I've been to Side Street a few times for day parties and thought they had good bar food so I took my wife and neice for dinner. Didn't start off well because our artichoke dip was cold but the manager fast tracked our entrees so we wouldn't have to wait. Wife and neice had the Shrimp Alfredo and cleaned the plate. I had the Snapper Orleans which was equally as satisfying. Great restaurant food in this small little bar.
I've been a somewhat regular customer of Side Street Grill for about three years now. I think I first tried it when a nearby midtown restaurant had a long wait time one evening. I loved the experience, and I've been back many times.
The food has always been good, the service has always been friendly, and they usually have some fairly good drink specials. I like the laid back atmosphere around the bar. The restaurant is naturally divided into sections, so it feels more intimate than many bar and grill spots. When the weather is cooperative, the outdoor dining area is pleasant. Some reviews here have mentioned smoking in the restaurant. That might have been something that's changed in the more recent years, because I've never observed indoor smoking over the course of my visits. I think of SSG as a great choice for a wide variety menu options and an overall good dinner experience.
Have seen better days. I usually enjoy eating here but today was a little disappointing. I ordered the mother load chicken sandwich with Italian spinach for the side item. The sandwich was fine but the spinach was way too salty. My Mom had the salmon club with spinach. The salmon was overcooked, and she also commented on how salty the spinach was. The service was great as always but everyone has a bad day in the kitchen. It won't affect me coming back but today's quality was a let down.
Luuuv this spot! My friends and I hang out several days w/i a month and it's extremely people friendly!!! Especially during warm months!!!!

I went there for dinner last night with my two friends and I really enjoyed it. I hadn't been in a long time, and the quality of food was great. They make their own salad dressings and I had a salad with their vodka balsamic vinegar dressing and it was delightful. Lots of different veggies in there--great quality and size for a side salad. I then had the salmon piccata which was a great dish. a little Parmesan crisp on top of a bed of mashed potatoes with little mini capers and a great lemon sauce. My friend had the fish tacos and raved about those and how tangy they were. They also had the chicken cordon bleu, the only disappointment of the evening. While the taste was great, the portion size was pathetic and it's one of the more expensive items on the menu. Sweet potato fries were great, a little sweet but in a maple flavored way rather than a suffocating white sugar flavor. Overall, it was a great experience. Looking around it seemed that the cocktails were a little small for their prices and maybe drinking there isn't the best value. I didn't try their drinks though so I probably shouldn't say too much.

I've been a regular there for years, and needless to say the food and drinks are always up to par. Excellent food and delicious drinks, with friendly service keeps me going there year after year. Steak night on Wednesdays is my favorite!!
Ladies Nite. Aiight so i went with my friends! Woot for me.. it was a Monday, one of the few bars open in midtown go figure.. the single barkeep/waiter was cordial and most helpful and timely..
the atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, the varieties of food were suitable for all pallets, and the drinks were strong enuf!
kudos to side street... me and mine will defiantly be back..
Smoky but good. My girlfriend and I went to Side Street last night and when we walked in, I almost wanted to leave because we walked into a cloud of smoke. It's just something I'm not used to anymore but we settled and I'm glad we did. My burger was outstanding. She got a salmon sandwich that was really unique and good. Our waitress was great, too. Overall, I was impressed, but would be a regular if I didn't have to wash my clothes the moment I got home.
Out with the old but definitely in with .lobe ththe new look. LOVE IT! Food is still pretty good but the I found the drinks not to be as potent. I guess it depends on the bartender. Still my spot.
Great. The "new" SSG is very bright and pleasant. The $2 import beer on Thursdays is one of the best deals in town. Their food is nice and the portions are generous. The spinach dip is really rich and very tasty. My only complaint is that I had the brownie recently and it was dry and disappointing. More moist and decadent please.
The servers are friendly and the crowd is usually a good mix of different ages and races. It's a cool place to relax with friends.
To Go Orders Are Better. The food here is so good. That being said, the atmosphere is too much. They still allow smoking while others are dining and it is way too small for that. It is also incredibly loud. My boyfriend and I get to go from here all the time though. I love the buffalo tenders and sweet potato fries-it is the perfect combinnation if sweet and heat. My boyfriend usually gets the steak philly, which he says is the best in town.

WAS GREAT... NOW IT'S GOOD!!. I always liked this place as a drinking place, very lively always busy and generally happening. To top it off the food was really great.. every thing from the Side St steak to the Philly was certainly at the higher end and I considered it to be some of the best casual dining in Midtown!!
Then tragedgy struck and a fire gutted the place.. and sadly it had to close for about 6 months, which at the time you had to feel that something great would come out of the deal for the owners as the place could have done with an upgrade and refit!! That is surely what you have got, a much cleaner, way more brighter and a new look was born. Unfortunately in my opinion it has lost a lot of the old charm in the process. The most dramatic and drastic change is the crowd... a lot younger and definately a LOT LOUDER!!! The patio is still great and in my opinion one of if not the best in Midtown!!
Now on to the food...well as the title explains it also has lost some of it's appeal.. The bread for the sandwiches is a complete let down, whereas it used to be a nice french roll has been replaced with something similar to what you buy pre-packaged in Schnucks which does not do the sandwiches justice!! The consistency is way off.. sometimes good and sometimes average!!
They do have great specials during the week for a couple and mosty definately value for money!!
A lot of staff changes... some good and one or two really bad, where I will actually leave!!!
As always would I go back... most definately in the warm months for their patio... I have been back several times since the re-open, but instead of my main stop it is now my starting or ending point.
Would I eat again... absolutely but not as frequently and definately a lot more selectively!!!
Great selection, enjoyable atmosphere. Side Street has been our girls night location for years! Equally fun to start off date night. Fun and laid back atmosphere. Great food ranging from well prepared traditional bar food to casual fine dining - whatever your mood. Great selection of martinis, wine, whiskey, and cigars.

Just not the same.... The Side Street Grill has been my favorite stomping ground for the past 2-3 years. The martinis, although pricey, cannot be beat for sheer flavor and alcohol content! You wouldn't expect the food to be as decent as it would be in a bar, but it's excellent - I'm craving it right now!
That said, the Grill recently reopened after a fire earlier this year, and the atmosphere has completely changed. What used to be a very low-key, dark and relaxed environment has become a much brighter and LOUDER place. My friends and I hit it up last week and we couldn't even hear each other talking across the table. Perhaps it was the acoustics of the new building or the amount of people inside, but it was never this loud in the old building.
In addition to the noise, one of the bartenders was quite rude to us. While not yet published for the new place, the Grill had a shooter menu before it burned down, and my friend asked for one of the drinks that we remembered being on that menu. The waitress said it would be no problem, and it was brought to us soon after. The drink tasted like watery Coke and was nothing like what we remembered. We flagged the waitress back over and asked for it to be remade. Second try, still watery, and we just sent it back for good.
Then - and THIS is what made us mad - the bartender came over unprompted, telling us that she made the drink the way it's supposed to be. We informed her that no, it's never tasted like that here, and we really just didn't care to try it anymore if it was going to be prepared like that. She got huffy and said "well, what WOULD you like?" I'd never seen this woman before, and really didn't appreciate her telling a bunch of regulars what her crappy drink was supposed to taste like.
The food cannot be beaten, and the drinks (most of them!) are impeccable. The Grill itself just isn't the old relaxing place I remember.
Good martini. I liked the music and quiet atmosphere. You can carry on a conversation with your friends and not have to shout above the loud music or 50 jumbo screens showing every sporting event in the world.
The martini was great and was very large and filled to the brim. Most places only fill your glass half way and make you buy more. Just one of these babies is enough to get you that nice warm feeling.
Nice place. Good filet, very reasonably priced as well as their sandwiches are good and quite filling. Their martini's a pricey but it is a "martini bar" as well as restaurant and they're not afraid to put in the alcohol. All in all, a good place to go whether for dinner or just drinks.
Compared to places like Lenny's (whose Philly cheesesteak sandwich is actually a hoagie), Side Street's version is the real deal despite the fact that it uses chopped meat instead of sliced.
Honestly I loved this place I’ve been trying new spots in the city with my birthday coming up and it was fun. Service was very mediocre but I assume it’s because they’re used to that lil gratuity they get so they don’t try hard other than that everything we ordered was great and I will be back for the cheese half moons!!!
Was travelling across America from Australia, we were looking for somewhere to eat in Memphis and came across this place. Would absolutely recommend the food was delicious. The service was great. By far one of the best meals we’ve had so far.
I really like this place. The servers are attentive and helpful. The drinks are pricey but good. The food is good and comes in large portions. Been going there for a few years and I have never had a bad experience. But it is time for them to freshen the place up a bit.
We absolutely love Side Street! The drinks are everything you need in a real stiff drink!!! The food is always so good and fresh. The egg rolls sell out fast so we didn’t get a chance to order them this visit but we have had them many times and whew, they are delicious!! The steak was pretty good and cooked to the perfect temperature. The spinach is seasoned very well! That salmon burger is sooo delicious and definitely will satisfy your appetite. The service is always on point and the bartender is not stingy AT ALL! They don’t open late anymore but that’s the new normal I guess 😩
Only stopped in for drinks. I plan to come back for Sunday brunch. But the mimosas was hitting.
Edit: Went back for brunch!! One of the best steaks I’ve had in years. The food was great but customer service is just okay.
Sat outside with two friends. Tricia was our server. Fantastic. She made the night fun. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was one of the best I'd ever had. Outdoor seating allowed us to enjoy the night air. Amazing experience. Definitely going back. Definitely asking for Tricia!
Amazing food and drinks and the food comes out super fast! Been coming for years and consider this place home. Good atmosphere, FIRE drinks and cool people. It's also very LGBTQ friendly so all are welcome. No discrimination here. Great spot to try if you're in Midtown. UPDATE: RedBar is now open Friday thru Sunday.
Great place to get drinks or eat, relaxed atmosphere. 6 years later it's still one of the best places! The only problem I've had is with them picking up the phone when trying to place an order. The only problem with this place is the flies that slip in, please try and fix it 😂
Very enjoyable place just off the Square, relatively small with a nice atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. I was there on a Wednesday evening and it was about 3/4 full. The food was very good and the kitchen was fast. I will definitely go back again.
The drink menu was full of fun drinks the food was pretty good. It was a nice backdrop for a simple girl's night dinner and drinks. The Buffalo chicken egg rolls were my favorite thing I ordered.
Actually the best grilled_blackened salmon I've ever had! And the rest of my food was just as great! And I've had a lot of salmon and paid the same or more.It was'nt dry and the flavor was excellent! Visited for my daughters birthday.I had to bring her.From prior visits the drinks are good and staff is professional.That was my fourth visit and I will return.Oh and all of my family and friends with us that day love loved their food.

Went to the Square and while looking for parking when the neon of the Side Street Grill caught my eye. I love spontaneity, so I said to my date, let's check it out.
The place look friendly when we went inside we saw a diverse mix of patrons and we were instantly comfortable. A quick look at the menu told us our instincts were right.
I had the Blackened Chicken Alfredo, my lovely date had the Chicken Portobello, with garlic mashed potatoes and the chefs choice vegetable medley.
Our food was delivered very quickly for a Saturday night. As we both sampled our respective dishes, the table became very quiet.
The Alfredo sauce was thick and delicious, the Blackened Chicken seasoned perfectly. Surprisingly, it's hands down the best Chicken Alfredo dish I've had all year!!
My lovely date had the same experience. In fact she commented OMG several times as she enjoyed the Chicken Portobello and sides. I have to point out that this phrase has not been heard by me before at the dinner table...need I say more?
Check out this place before the rest of Memphis discovers it. You won't be disappointed!!

I got takeout from here my last night in Memphis and omg! It was sssooo good. The staff was great when I went in, taking pity on the lost look on my face, and were awesome. Would recommend!
