I have been a customer since they opened. I absolutely love the sandwiches and the sweet lady that makes mine extra special with her magic touch! She has been my favorite since the beginning. This is the ONLY place I'll ever eat a sub sandwich at! As a University of Memphis student, it is just a few minutes away from campus and is extremely convenient. If you go in enough (like me) they will start to remember you and show a little more emotion when taking your order. There's a lady that has worked so long that she used to be the one making my parent's subs when they went to U of M in the 80's!!! Definitely the best sandwich ever, I don't even mind it be cash only! It's worth every penny!!
I had the chicken breast sandwich without itialian dressing it was good, fries good, make sure you bring cash they do not take credit cards!

The best. I seriously don't know what else to say. this is hands down, one of my top 5 favorite places to eat in memphis and definitely the very best sandwich in the entire world. i get the turkey on soft bread. with everything on it. why mess with perfection?
When you walk in you might be put off by the place. Don't be. Do you like tuna fish? Well order an 8" tuna on a soft bun and thank me later. If you're hungry, get a 12" original. It's one of my favorite sandwich shops in Memphis.
Wow! Had the Friday special - a turkey sandwich, chips and a drink. You can't beat the price and the taste is great. Going back soon to try the hard bread.
Known locally as the "Chinese Sub Shop," I can't imagine why anyone else goes to the myriad other sandwich shops nearby. What the heck is soft bread and hard bread? I don't know but your sandwich comes with chips and a drink.
Minus the profanity for all those virgin ears. Holy *hit it's good - all the bragging reviews are sooooo right! this *hit is so good to the last bite. the soft bread is the most perfect bread on earth... the portion of meat and cheese is just right... and the dressing they use! what is it? it's almost like the taco dressing from ponchos, and it makes the sandwich melt in your freakin' mouth. i believe they use some lawry's season salt too; regardless, they have this sandwich down to an art. it's like the mona lisa of sandwiches, and you will leave with a smile! ignore the somewhat harsh woman taking your order, and just worry about getting that sandwich to your mouth as fast as you possibly can.

Simply put the absolute BEST SANDWICH in all of America. I went to school at Memphis in '99 and ever since...anytime I get back in town, I have to go the the Rendezvous and to the SUB SHOP!!! Greatest EVER!!
One of memphis's hidden gems. 8" super sub on soft bread no mayo. I dont know what it is, but their sandwiches are MAGICAL. oh and everyone should throw some money in the tip jar... I love the people who run this place; they make delicious food, so show your appreciation!!

Worked There. Way back when I was in high school, I worked at the Super Submarine Sandwich Shop on Highland Ave...it was early 1976. We did not serve Chinese food back then, we were just a sub shop. The place had already been around long before I worked there, I remember people coming in there late at night from ZZ Top or Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts, they were always hungry and we had the best sandwiches in town. Not sure when the current owners took over, but glad to here they still have excellent food!
Best Sandwich in Memphis. This is no ordinary sandwich! MUST TRY. This is one of those places you dont realize how awesome it is until you try to explain to someone about how great the sandwich is...they dont believe you...you take them...and then as that first bite hits their taste buds...they give you that look...being the classy guy/gal you are...you simply return the look.
Tradition. No doubt about it. This is the best sandwich in Memphis. Has been since sometime in the 70s. Nobody seems to know exactly when it all began or what the secret is. At first glance, it seems simple, but it cannot be replicated anywhere. I've searched. A special mayo? Secret sauce? Crack in the bread? Who knows. What I do know is, this place is worth the drive from Bartlett and we go here often. Bring cash, though, because they have yet to give in to modern technology, but that's just fine with me. Don't change a thing!

Awesome. 12" roast beef, hard roll, mayo and mustard, with everything. Chip? Yes, please. No charge, cash. And throw a super egg roll in there, too.

Good sub. Love the dressing and seasonings. Disappointed that the cheeses are processed. Also would like a smaller size option. They only come in 12" or 18". Way too much for one person.

Good food, Good prices, I just brought the wrong date with me, should have dropped her off at the pound and had them muzzle her up.
There are no words that describe the experience you have when you eat these sandwiches. The mind cannot understand how exciting this sandwich is to your body. These folks have been pumping out a Memphis miracle that, frankly, is completely overlooked by the majority of people in town until they finally get a chance to try out this amazing bread and the experience. Your life will change for the better – trust me on this one.
Always a great place to go, my favorite sub is the "super sub" it's delicious, rhe bread they have is unique. They also have Chinese food, my husband gets it from time to time but aI am faithful to the subs. Bring cash, cash only.
Been coming here since the swim team days in high school. Still awesome sandwiches and good people. Their lobby is open once again after closing for civid 3 years ago. You can now sit and enjoy your delicious sandwiches.

The BEST subs in Memphis. Still haven't figured out what magic they add to seemingly simplistic sandwiches, but so delicious. Miss the location being near U of Memphis, but they still deliver the goods.

Hands down the best sandwich in Tennessee! I have eaten there twice to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and I was not disappointed either times.
