The donuts are amazing. Cakes are delicious. Since everything is made fresh daily without preservatives, it's best to visit earlier in the day.

Ordered a birthday cake Saturday and received it Sunday. Very tasty & cute. The name was spelled wrong but whatever, we're only human.

Y’all. Kay Bakery never misses! This is the 2nd year I’ve gotten a child’s birthday cake and it’s so so cute! I showed them an inspiration pic and they absolutely nailed it. Last year’s cake was delicious so I’m sure this one will be, also. You can’t go wrong with Kay. I’ll be getting birthday cakes from them for years to come.

Perfect! Loved the cookies and the bread, and very welcoming service, both on call and in person. Not too busy, and clean place. Look no more for local bakery. Highly recommend Olivia, she was very helpful and kind.

WHAT IN THE NAME OF MIKE!!
Where has this place been my whole life. What an oasis of fresh baked pastries and cakes. Off the beaten path, we sometimes overlook such gems.
The legend is true! We picked up some petit fours cakes here for a wedding shower and had some extra. Amazing! Fresh, moist, and full of REAL ingredients makes all of the difference in the world. Additionally, they sell like 10,000 other things from cookies to pastries. I could drop a small fortune here and would have a limp to show for it! LOL.
I can’t wait to go back.

I’m so thankful that I was referred to this bakery. I had a lady to cancel on a baby shower cake last night, that was needed for today. I called Kay’s this morning before they even opened, and they assisted me. I went to give a pic of what I wanted on such a short notice @9:35 and I picked my cake up at 2:45. It was ready much earlier. The customer service is awesome. I was pleased with my order and I will be ordering again and again. Thank you so much!

I was like a kid in a candy store. Everything looked delicious. I came in to order a cake for our church, and the price for the 1/4 sheet cake was very reasonable. What's even better is they're even open on Sundays. You won't go wrong if you get your cakes here.

Picked up some sweets including churros and muffins -- delicious! Even the day old treats were excellent! The staff were very friendly and the prices were really reasonable.

I ordered U of M cookie here. The order got in the wrong pile and they were not done the day I originally asked them to be. Fortunately we had a day to spare and they were done the following morning. The cookies turned out perfect! They are beautiful with U of M logo.
I also sampled some of their other cookies and they are wonderful! All in all I am really happy I found this place!

Horrible experience all the way. First thing the girl charge my debit card $267 when I owed $54. And this was on Friday afternoon so my money won't go back until at least Tuesday. Then she didn't put anything to hold the top layer onto the bottom so on my way home the top layer slide off and fell into the side of the box smashing it revealing the extremely slick "cardboard" she put between. Then the cake and cup cakes tasted horrible. Bet dry and the icing was disgusting. I had heard nothing but great things about them. Horrible. Do not use. Paid $100 for crap. No one finished a cupcake or piece of cake.

KAY'S DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB ON MY DAUGHTER'S CAKE FOR HER 26TH BIRTHDAY. AND THE DID IT IN A VERY SHORT LAST MINUTE NOTICE TIME. MY DAUGHTER'S FRIEND FOUND KAT'S ON TWO BEFORE MY DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY BECAUSE WHEN SHE CALLED THE BACKERY THAT SHE KNEW SHE WAS GOING TO USE THEY SAID THAT THERE WASNT ANY WAY THEY COULD HAVE HER cake DONE IN 2 DAYS.
SO SHE SEARCHED & SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND THANKFUL, FOUND KAY'S! THEY CAKE WAA BEAUTIFUL AND MADE MY DAUGHTER'S PARTY! AND EXCEPT FOR THEM NOT GETTING MY DAUGHTER'S SKIN TONE THE RIGHT SHADE, IT WAS JUST LIKE WE WANTED IT TO BE DONE! I WAS SO PLEASED THAT I JUST RECOMMENDED THEM TO ONE OF MY CLIENTS AFTER HEARD HER TALK ABOUT NEEDING TO GET A CAKE FOR HER DAUGHTER'S 12 THE BIRTHDAY THAT COMING UP APRIL 29. I SHOWED HER ALEX'S CAKE AND SHE WAS AMAZED! SO AMAZING , BEAUTIFUL JOB, KAY'S BACKERY! YOUR WORK WAS SO VERY CREATIVE! YOU ARE VERY GIFTED, ARTISTS! MY DAUGHTER'S CAKE WAS NOT JUST A BEAUTIFUL BUT A BEAUTIFUL,AMAZING WORK OF ART!

Absolutely excellent work. I was in charge of ordering a cake for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration. I got the idea that it would be neat to have a cake made that replicated the super-fancy cake from their wedding day. As I live in Texas, I coordinated this mostly through email. I emailed a photo and found Kay Bakery to be very responsive and very reasonable with their cost estimates. In the end, the cake they delivered was unbelievably perfect! We displayed a wedding picture of my parents cutting their original cake next to Kay's cake, and they simply did such an amazing job of delivering exactly what we wanted. Plus, this cake tasted delicious. Thank you so much for helping to make this event such a success. We got lots of compliments.

Delicious Wedding Cake. A month or so ago, I was charged with providing the wedding cake for my mother's wedding and, frankly, was at a loss--having never been married myself and not having done much shopping for cake of any kind. Where to procure the perfect wedding cake for septuagenarians?

I immediately Facebooked a few well-connected friends in town--professional wedding guests--who hastily referred me to various must-know, super-busy local ladies who have made their names by supplying wedding cakes to the stars in Memphis--each of whom rebuffed my impudence with attitudes that fell somewhere between disdain and pity. They could not possibly come up with a wedding cake in a mere three weeks. "Hie thee back to the hinterlands, oh gauche one," they seemed to say.

A day or so later, while shopping for new eyeglasses, the optician who was helping me mentioned (odd coincidence) that she was about to get married, so I asked her about the availability of good wedding cakes. It was on her recommendation that I called Kay Bakery, and was told that they needed only 24 hours' notice. Being a suspicious, paranoid type who didn't want to go down in history for having sabotaged his mother's long-awaited second wedding, I went to the bakery four whole days in advance.

This was to be a small wedding (eight guests for dinner following the service, on the grounds of a B & B that shall go nameless, but which has a French name and is about 20 miles away in a county seat in a bordering state famous for magnolias, racism, and tailgating), so I was looking for a small cake and was shown several photographs of cakes as well as a few model cakes in the store. I chose a double-layered cake with white icing and roses on top. It would accommodate 25 guests. I ordered the cake on Monday and was told it would be ready at 2:00 PM on Thursday; the wedding was Thursday at 6:00. I was nervous, having read some of the reviews on here, but I was reassured by the earnest demeanor of the baker.

I called the day before--a little panicky--to be sure they were still in business. Again, I had been somewhat cowed by the negative comments on Urbanspoon. The baker told me it would be ready at 2:00 and asked if I would like him to phone me if it was ready earlier. I said sure.

The next day, I got a call at 10:45 but missed it since my cellphone was in my briefcase. It was the baker. I got there a little after 2:00 PM to find a lovely white cake with icing roses on top, tucked safely into a box wrapped in in cellophane.

At the reception, after removing the top layer (yet another arcane wedding tradition involving wrapping the top layer in cellophane, putting it in the freezer for a year, counting backwards from 300, pissing into a cotton gin, etc.), the bottom layer supplied more than ample cake for the eight of us, all of whom pronounced it delicious.

I don't know who wrote the other reviews here or why their accounts are so dire. I was quite wary indeed after reading them, but I went on the advice of my optician--and the nice baker who took my order--and was not a bit disappointed. Good price ($60), too.

Horrible. Got a cake from here and it was old. all the stuff isn't fresh, it used to be good but they have changed owners so many times that the quality has went way down. It also is no longer called Kays but something in Spanish.

Depends on what you get.. I will say the service is friendly. I feel a little strange coming in every time I walk in, but whoever is behind the counter at the time ( and it has been different people), just makes you feel like a valued customer. These people usually have smiles on their faces. I am a cake fiend, so I absolutely love their cake. Their cookie decorations are very adorable- on some days you can catch a packman or a piggy. I love anything they make with apple in it. Their bread is just perfectly sweet. They make this "deli sandwhich" thing, it looks like a pastry but it is filled with cream cheese a pickle and peppers. This surprised me because I naively believed it had some kind of sweet filling, but I am addicted to those 'cream cheese pepper' things!
I also love the way it is set up. You grab a tray and tongs, pile whatever you want on the tray and they ring you up. It is also very affordable, which is hard to say for many other bakeries.
Overall it is an enjoyable experience and everyone should try it at least once.

Kay Bakery is a place where the old is colliding with the new. All of the cases have ancient sliding glass doors and some of the white model cakes on the top shelf are yellowing with age.
