We were at the Mothers Day Brunch. Food was very good. Server, Cathleen, was so nice and efficient. Even the staff refilling the dishes seemed happy to be there! We didn't feel rushed with our meal, even though there was a line outside!

Overall awesome experience. Bartenders Jess and Nichole were awesome, top notch, they deserve promotions. Food was great, not overpriced, very tasty and cooked to perfection. I had ribs, and the meat fell right off the bone. Can't really even think of something to be critical of. Will be back some day.

Always the best. Been coming to the Black Horse for 15+ years and it never disappoints! The food is always fresh and the seafood dishes are wonderful. Staff is also very friendly, from the valet to the bartenders and servers, and host/hostess! Love you Black Horse!

My husband and I decided go to the Black Horse Tavern for our Thanksgiving dinner this year....all I could say, is that it was wonderful from start to finish. Our dinner choices were outstanding, and the staff is awesome. We have never been out to eat for a holiday meal so I was a little apprehensive, but we definitely chose the right place....To the chef, to Jen, to Nick and Lolita, thank you for an awesome experience,,,

There'll never be another burger in the world better than The Black Horse's. Other than one rude employee, it's lit.

Everything about this place is excellent. Delicious drinks, and food. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is excellent. I go every time I'm in NJ. Pictured here the Mediterranean Grilled Shrimp. 10/10

Very good experience at this tavern. First the ambience is old world charm. Very quaint, you instantly feel transported to another era. Second the food was really good. We tried a couple of appetizers, entrees and drinks. Everything was good, burgers were cooked to perfection. The chicken pot pie was fabulous. Lastly, the service was great. Our server Lindsey was very attentive and we were very well taken care of. We had a great evening and will be back soon.

We celebrated my fiancée Vanessa's birthday at Black Horse Tavern and couldn't be happier. The atmosphere was cozy, our server was top-notch, and the food was divine. The place buzzed with a warm sense of community that made Vanessa's special day even more memorable. Big thanks to the team for a fantastic evening!

Good beer, food and service. First time here, I was thinking it was going to be expensive; but, the prices were good. So we're the portions. If u like Brussels sprouts, you will like the appetizer. Very cozy with a fireplace and all. I'll definitely go back. The bar was a nice size, not exactly a great place to watch sports - more of a cozy place. A few beers on tap but nothing major.

Loving the changes Black Horse has made, we had stopped going for a while due to food/service going downhill. Recently returned twice and it’s back to one of my favorites. Management is attentive and engaged, place seems very organized and efficient. Servers are wonderful. Food is remarkably back on point, feels fresher and menu has more interesting choices. The Prime Rib Panini is fantastic. Wine list finally includes an Italian red (thank you!) beer list could use some non-IPA craft cans or drafts (need fruited sours!) Wish they’d bring back the famous yellow layer cake with chocolate icing. But just so happy to have my favorite cozy fireside pub back in the rotation. For anyone who gave up on it, def give it a chance for redemption.

It was such a pleasure to eat at the Black Horse. Myself and the couple that I was with drove close to an hour from their home. Brandon was our server. He was warm, inviting and accommodating. We were allowed to enjoy dinner at a comfortable pace. The food was excellent. One of my guess had the fillet. He said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had. We also had the pleasure of meeting Jason who is the manager. He was also very pleasant and we had a very nice conversation. My friends and I look forward to our next at the Black Horse.

Ok I have been here a few times and I rarely give out a five star review across the board so let me just explain. There is nothing this place needs to do to improve what they have going on. The atmosphere here is great reminds me of visiting some of the pubs in Ireand without being and Irish pub. The foods solid I have no complaints although I always like to think I can improve a dish. And the staff has always been polite and diligent. The drink specials always seem to impress me. I just think you would be hard pressed to be disappointed here, definitely give this spot a try.

Loved my Onion Soup... haven't had it in awhile and it didn't disappoint. The Chicken Potpie was delicious, loaded with more chicken than vegetables, a tasty gravy and covered with puff pastry. My husband really liked the Squid Ink Pasta with Bay Scallops he ordered. His side salad was fresh and a nice mix of veggies. The Pub's interior is very interesting...almost feels like a restored barn? Would have liked to see the inside of the old tavern, but only used for large parties. The Tavern/Pub's location has been serving travellers since 1742!

We are at the restaurant across the courtyard. Prices are very reasonable for the quiet romantic atmosphere. Wait staff are very efficient, pleasant and quick to refill our Prosecco from the side table ice bucket. Delicious and relaxing!!!!

Visited the Black Horse Tavern & Pub on a warm weekday night. The food my boyfriend and I had was great- thumbs up for the fried chicken (supposedly the best he’s ever had) as well as my filet mignon. Drink-wise we had the limoncello mule and the grapefruit mojito, which were both decently good but nothing phenomenal. Our service was fast, waitress was friendly and very accommodating to allergies. As far as ambience goes, we loved the outside vibe. The large patio was well lit with string lights all around and nicely maintained. Inside seemed equally as inviting but more pub-like with booth seating. My only complaint would be that the chairs were uncomfortable. Like super uncomfortable. I would recommend bringing a stadium seat to sit on or being prepared to makeshift a cushion with a sweatshirt. Other than that, if you’re looking for a laid back tavern/pub and some pretty good food and drinks, definitely stop by the Black Horse Tavern.

Great food and a wonderful atmosphere. My wife has family in Mendham, and remembers this place fromher childhood. We were passing by on a trip and decided to stop in for dinner. Tables were set up outside with a musician playing guitar and singing. There were several options on the menu that sounded delicious, and once we made our selections, the food came out quickly. I went with the Herb Crusted Salmon over pureed carrots, while my wife chose the filet. Both entrees were delicious. We shared the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Our server was wonderful, and didn't flinch when all of her tables had to move inside because of an approaching thunderstorm. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Mendham.

Food was tasty and came out hot. Pricey for the size of the portions. The menu has some of the old favorites which was good to see back. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

The food was outstanding. The service was friendly and pleasingly competent. The atmosphere was inviting. If the Pub at the Black Horse Tavern was closer to where we lived we would be there a lot. But don't just take my word for it, five historical reenactors from Sparta came in to eat there shortly after we arrived. They drove call the way from Sparta to eat there because the food was so good.

The Black Horse Tavern & Pub serves yummy food in a welcoming environment. There’s a big parking lot in the back. The pub food offers a variety dishes, not just your typical bar food. They also do private events in their building across the patio. Compared to other private event venues in the area, the price cannot be beat.
