Reviews La Palma

So we decided to finally review this place. The service at La Palma is always great. We got there right before it started to get crowded. Our food came quickly. We ordered potaje de chicharo (not pictured) and frituras de malanga to start off, delicious. Then we ordered the La Palma steak w/ fries and rabo encendido. I liked both but my wifey was a little disappointed in the rabo. In her opinion it was less seasoned then she expected but super tender and just a little oily. It is the only reason for the 4 out 5 star we gave it. The rest of the food was so good though. Try it out.

Best place to get churros when it’s “cold” in Miami. The croquetas were the best, definitely getting them again. The churros were tougher than I expected but the hot chocolate was thick and custardy, super delicious. The girls at the Ventanita were super fast and helpful, but the line was still long into Calle Ocho.

Okay so let me tell you all why I rate this place 5 stars. This was my first visit to Miami, (amazing place) and this was a recommended location to get food. I'm all for it. So I go. Totally odd set up, you just walk in, have a seat, and a waiter will be with you. I do just that. All goes smooth and well. Food comes out fast, hot, and delicious. The waiter was very helpful and patient. Always great. Now this is my main reason for rating this place 5 stars. The staff. The moment I arrived till the moment I left, the staff helped me. Very helpful and resourceful at that. Wonderful. To the waitress we had, forgive me for not remembering a name, but she was terrific, I wish I could have tipped more. Also, I'd like to recommend the Media Noche sandwich. 🤗

I just went to La Ventanita to get some churros. If it is cold in Miami, prepare to wait a lot in line for churros and hot chocolate. But today was hot and a perfect day to try the churros at this place. I have to say that compare to other churros in Miami these are softer and thicker. But at the same time I don't think is worth the wait on a cold Miami night for some churros. La Ventanita is very close to the street and it is extremely difficult to hear the person on the other side. The choices for churros are very basic sugar churro and when we asked if we can have Dulce de leche, they basically poured a lot of dulce de leche in the container. Honestly I was not very impressed going to this place. The propaganda this place receives it's not worth the drive. I have been to other churro places with a lot more selection than this. At least that was my impression when in this place there is no menus at La Ventanita.

They used to pull the churro right off the machine but now they keep them frozen. The churro are not the same, but the guarapo and hot chocolate are great.

Those empanadas, yummilious!!! Excellent service, keep in mind, most of the waitresses do speak both languages, not all do but they try!!! The food was great as well ...

This was my introduction to Cuban food and it was fantastic. The cafe Cubano was amazing as was everything else that we tried. My family shared all of the food that we ordered with each other and it was so flavorful and delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Lol! I see all this whinin’ and moanin’ about the churros and chocolate at La Palma and yet there is a line involving most of the town that stretches along half the block literally all winter. Really guys? Let’s face it, you need this place more than it needs you!🥶 👇🏽 1. It’s a hometown place with a history and you know it. 2. Where else are you going to get a decent “fritura de malanga” (root vegetable fritter) at 4 am when your (insert type of relative here) arrives from (insert Caribbean country name here) on a visit? You might even get a half smile from the weary staff at the counter. Enough said, let’s see you do that at 4am. 💪🏽

I wasn't really feeling hungry so I ordered some vegetables and I'm pretty sure they were frozen and well cooked and flavored with some butter and possibly salt. I ordered some French fries and they gave a huge amount and they were quite tasty. My favorite thing was the rice pudding 🍮 absolutely tasty 😋 One person ordered some roast pork, with rice and black beans and he seemed to enjoy that and the meat appeared tender. The other person ordered the beef, like chuck roast and that looked good and was tender. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the bread basket with Cuban bread toasted with garlic and butter.

I had the best Churros of my life here. I have eaten Churros everywhere in Miami and even made them at home, these are the best without a doubt. Highly recommend.

If you grew up in Miami cold weather means churros con chocolate at La Palma. When you visit you'll see they are just as great as you remember them and the restaurant has been remodeled. Enjoy!
