Oct. 9, 2021 - Ever heard the story “ Little Engine That Could”? The Scootic In & Millinocket reminds me of that train engine working hard to climb that hill . . .
After hiking around Baxter Park with my wife and Nikon camera on a perfect autumn day, we stopped in around 5:30 pm at the Scootic In . A very polite hostess told us of the “ wait”. . . after reading the large Covid sign on the door we accept that most restaurants in Maine are in short supply of employees, so the owners asked for your patience.
I purchased drinks at the bar, and we looked over the menu while waiting for our table. Amber, our server, guided us to our table after 20 minutes. The dining room & bar were packed. . . So we ordered our appetizer & dinner all at once, with our wait about another 15 minutes! All was good! There’s about 7 salad choices, we enjoyed the Greek Salad first! Menu choices included seafood, burgers, sandwiches, pub appetizers, steaks & chicken . . . we ordered the 14 inch homemade pizza ( pepperoni, extra cheese, and onions on half )! After another 10 minutes our delicious looking pizza arrived. Very satisfying pizza too! Thank you for a good meal! We’d come back !

I wasn't sure what to expect, because it seems to be the most happening place in Millinocket. We sat in the bar area which was clean and the noise level was medium. They didn't have a drink menu so I asked the waitress what she would suggest for a mixed drink. It was something with pineapple, orange juice, and Malibu? She gave us a paper menu, which makes sense with covid, however nobody in the place had a mask on. I went in to the restroom and was sad when there wasn't any soap, but the bathroom was incredibly clean. I got back to my seat and finally tried my drink which was actually quite good. We ordered sweet chili wings and calzones. They both came to the table very fast. The wings were phenomenal. Crunchy with the sweet chili sauce they rank at the top 5 on my wing list. The calzone was really good, I had the pepperoni, with mushrooms, green pepper, onion, and jalapeno. It was a good experience overall. I highly recommend those wings!
Their food was very delicious! The seafood, pasta and pizza were all thoroughly enjoyed!
Their seafood sampler is so good ( haddock, shrimp, clams, scallop )
The blackened haddock was perfect and filling. Very fresh seafood. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice beer selection too!
From the outside it seems casual place and inside not a lot to look at as they are in middle of remodeling. But after having dinner there I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and professional staff were. Very accommodating and welcoming to visitors. The food tasted fresh and was hot. There are also several gluten free choices which makes it nice for those who have special diets. I definitely would return here again when in the area. Good prices and nice sized portions.
Thank you Kathy 😊.... we had great service an great seafood 😋 !! We live in Bar Harbor so that's saying alot about Scootic In
