This place reminds me of the local gyros spot around the corner from my childhood home in Chicago. The interior, the atmosphere, and most importantly the food. As other reviews have mentioned this is probably one of the better gyros you’ll get in Milwaukee.
The gyros platter is piled with meat, onions and a couple slices of tomatoes. The gyros meat itself is seasoned just right and tastes just like the gyros you’d find at any local joint in Chicago. The tzatziki was legit—good tang from the lemon and Greek yogurt. The fries were crispy and the pita comes toasted/grilled. Everything was solid. I wish I’d brought some friends with me so I could try a larger portion of the menu. My only critique would be to dice the onions and add a little parsley.
I really have to acknowledge the service here. First, my cashier was so friendly. Most workers will exchange pleasantries and go about their day, but this lady was genuine. On top of that, when the line got a little backed up they had someone else take orders from the people waiting in line to expedite the process. They are attentive and work with a great sense of urgency which I don’t think should go unnoticed!
I really enjoyed Oakland Gyros and cannot wait to come back! They deserve 5 stars across the board. Amazing food, atmosphere, and noteworthy customer service.
Solid late night spot. Large portions including the meat. Well flavored chicken and gyro meat. Can’t go wrong when everything else is closed
We were in town and stopped by for lunch. Our spinach pie and gyro are awesome. And the staff is here to great us as we waited for our order.
Very good restaurant: healthy food, very tasty. Always a generous portion, great value. Good selection of great meals. Courteous, friendly staff, very hard working, professional. I have been going there for some 25 years. My favorite restaurant in the whole East side and Milwaukee. 5 stars. Our city needs more of restaurants like this one.
This place is legendary! After so many years they still take the same pride in their great food, and always dependable and friendly service. Don’t know I ever try a Gyro from anywhere else… lived off of their Athenian Chicken throughout college years and it’s as good as ever!
Delicious!! We got here at 11:30 and totally beat the rush. I got the gyro platter and my friend got the gyro. GET THE PLATTER! So much food but it's the best option. Food was out in minutes. Staff was very friendly. I was excited to go here since all my native Milwaukee peeps said this is THE SPOT! They were right!
The dining room has gotten smaller as they added a togo station now. Gyro sauce squeeze bottles are no longer available and the neighborhood continues to get sketchy but the food is still great.
I was entertaining 50 plus people at work. I ordered 25 lbs of meat (mixture of gyro and chicken) along with rice and salad.
This was a huge hit…literally all 50 plus people absolutely loved it!!! The price for this feed was also perfect!

I would absolutely recommend Oakland Gyros to anybody looking for a place to eat but also having a party.

I love Oakland Gyros and have been loyal since the late 90s. The chicken shish kebab and gyro platters are always great. Whether for lunch, dinner, or late night Oakland Gyros is the east side standard for UWM area food. Quick, clean, always friendly.
With so many gyro places in the area and having eaten at Apollo’s, I wanted to give this place a try. Ordered thru Door Dash for pick up. Food was ready within 15 mins for pick up. Good portion on the meat and nice fluffy pita.
One of the workers/cashiers was somewhat rude to me thinking I won’t confirm my pick up on Door Dash. Other than that, would return but at the second location.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Hands down one of the best food places I have gone to during my 4 year stay in Milwaukee. Its a little hole in the wall but it serves INCREDIBLE food, fantastic service, and a must try when in town. They are open late and are on delivery sites. Gyros come piled high with meat and the flavor is one you crave for months and months until you just decide to take on the 2 hour drive there to get it. Everytime we are in town we try our best to come eat here. I always reccomend it to everyone.
Got the Gyro platter with the salad and it was pretty delicious. Salad was fresh and crisp. Gave plenty of gyro meat. You'll be full. The pita is perfectly cooked.
We went during 1pm hour and it wasn't too busy.
Food came fast, maybe 7ish minutes for 4 dishes.
I'll definitely come back.
The guys working here are always fast and efficient and very good at what they do! Great place to come after a night out or just a regular lunch or dinner. Food is good and atmosphere is chill🤝
I lived in Milwaukee for 8 years or so and would eat here constantly. Now that I've moved away, I make it a point to stop here every chance I'm in town. These are the best gyros I have ever had. Any time I get one somewhere else my wife has to prepare to hear me complain that it's not OG.
Been here several times, it's always excellent food. It's nice and quiet today, during the day, managers walking around making sure everything is just right. The site, however, reads 'cash only', which is not true, plastic seems to be the norm that I've seen today. I also love the art, two examples posted w/ this review.
Food is very satisfying… definitely my go to place for salads & spinach pie…

I love a good gyro, and I've been all over the city trying them out. These are the best, or at least top 3 gyros in MKE. The building is old and the staff can be prickly but the food is superb. I've only had the gyros so far but I plan to try more on the menu
this place NEVER disappoints. service is amazing, security is amazing. food is phenomenal and comes out very fast. would recommend everyone. this place never fails to do me right after a long night.
