This restaurant used to be better years ago. I believe the service and food quality have declined over the years, unfortunately. The restaurant holds a lot of nastalgia, as I believe it's one of the first vegan restaurants in the state. The menu offers many organic and vegan options. I did notice s
Easily made online reservations here for Mother's Day breakfast, and was glad I did! This is a great, long-standing spot on North Avenue with on-site parking, restaurant, small market, and deli. Admittedly, though from the area, I forgot how wonderful this place is. The dining area is a nice size, a
I highly recommend this lovely restaurant if you are in downtown Milwaukee. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. I had white bean coconut soup, the Thai coconut curry stir fry, and a coconut kale smoothie. My husband had the mushroom lasagna, vegetarian chili, and a chocolate banana smo
Awesome vegetarian selection, super friendly staff, tasty food. Beans has the perfect combo of to-go options, grocery and dine-in. I’ve been coming here for 10 years and it hasn’t changed in quality. It’s an East Side staple!!
I wish I had discovered this little gem of a veggie spot on my first day in Milwaukee. This place has incredible vegetarian options and each meal exceeded my expectations. The staff and service is absolutely on point! The omelet and chili are pictured in this review. Each meal was wonderful!

OK, so be fair I didn't realize what kind of restaurant I was at - until now when Google asked me to review. It felt like a bunch of insane hippies that refused to make normal food. Ollie was INCREDIBLY helpful and worked with me to get garlic bread, apple pie and a chocolate milk. Thank you so m
I have been coming to the Beans and Barley for the better part of a decade and every meal has been superb. The restaurant has been a staple of Milwaukee culture for decades and their menu has a wide array of diverse food options for people looking for something different. Highly recommend.
Terrific spot with fast friendly service. They have a large menu, with items clearly marked as vegan or vegetarian. They even had some items with meat for the omnivores. I love the tofu sandwich and their vegan chili is amazing!
Their food is delicious! I had dinner with my mom and her friend for the first time not too long ago and I had the chicken sandwich and it was delicious! I also got some groceries and takeout food and it was so good! I was blown away! Will be stopping again :)
1st time here and coming from the Discovery Museum with a nine - and five year old, one adult gluten intolerant and one adult on a salt restrictive diet, this place worked out great. The food was delicious, and our wait person was very patient and kind since this was going to be on separate checks.
A good place for a peaceful breakfast. Not noisy. The tables are spread out from each others. Inside or outside tables are available. Also, they have a variety of really nice food. There is a store connected as well where they sell international authentic products which has been a good idea for gift
Few things, that I thought is worth penning down as review. I loved the fact that they have parking space. I am one of those that like to park and not walk a mile to eat. I am not that crazy about any restaurant. I loved the fact that they have outside seating. That basically straight off avoids inv
This place has been visited twice, its service is very good, courteous and professional staff. Good food, very relaxed atmosphere… They offer very good service and the cost is reasonable.
First time at beans and barley, and I will definitely be coming back! I am a heart failure patient and I have very specific dietary restrictions. Not only was my server more than willing to accommodate my needs she was very patient and very sweet. The manager helped, the kitchen helped, seemed like
