This place is such a hidden gem. No menu, just a huge glass case of what is fresh - seafood, generous cuts of meat, all made to order you just point and tell them how you want it cooked. Have eaten there many times and have never had anything other than outstanding food and service.

Incredible food and even better service! One of the city's best fish frys and an expertly curated tap list. You've driven by it a million times without stopping; pop in and say hi to CJ and the amazing staff. You'll be glad you did!

My husband and I stopped at 4th base before the brewer game on Sunday! What a great place! Bloody Mary was great and the staff was AMAZING! The staff was so friendly and helpful! It was a great place to start our day and celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary! Thanks and keep up the good work!

I have been a bartender/restaurant manager/chef for 22 years and I truly enjoy my visits to this incredible place. When I come into Milwaukee alone or with friends for anything I make it an automatic stop whether it's for the amazing food or just a couple drinks and to say hi. I was there yesterday before the brewer game and the staff (as always) was very accommodating. Keep up the great work C.J.

My girlfriend and I had dinner here last night for my birthday and I am still thinking about it today. It was absolutely phenomenal! I had a coffee rubbed filet mignon with asparagus and a baked potato. I don't think it could possibly be better. The food was out of this world, and the service was fantastic. I am currently scheming to get down there for dinner again tonight. Shout out to Gail (sp?), our server, who has the same birthday as me!

My husband and I stopped in for lunch yesterday. It was my first experience but my hubby had been there before so we headed over go the showcase to see what was available for our meal. So much to choose from. Our waitress/bartender was most helpful and friendly. We were very happy with our meals. Salad greens, roasted veggies, topped with perfectly done sliced tenderloin, hubby had crab topping his. After eating we roamed into the dining room to check out the sports memorabilia. We are old enough to remember the Braves and enjoyed looking at their faces once again. Definitely going there again.

[Forgot the text when I posted this originally] On my top ten list of bar/restaurants. If you're expecting bar food, you'll be disappointed. It's really, really good. I mean really good. The service was impeccable and the vibe was everything you want in a neighborhood bar. If you haven't been, you should go.

Honestly the shrimp that I got from here was the best shrimp I've ever eaten. The bloodys were great. Service was ok they are normally busy with Brewers fans. PLEASE get a menu with some prices! There is 0% chance of me returning without having a menu with some prices it just seems very shady not knowing the cost of what you are buying. I'd love to return but won't without the priced menu.

After moving to MKE we learned about this location because of its ties to the movie. We looked at the website and were confused by the menu/non menu concept. After deciding to just give it a shot... WOW, did we miss out all this time!!! We loved our visit and being able to literally pick every item of our meal to be cooked however we wanted. It is like having a friend with the coolest bar in his garage who just happens to know a fantastic chef that will cook you up whatever you want and every dish you go DAMN THAT WAS GREAT The staff was fantastic. (Erin?) Our bartender was fantastic...our fellow patrons were awesome and we had a great time! This is one of the coolest place in the area!

Fantastic experience. Stopped before going to a Brewer game. What you need to know is that the menu is “open”. You order what you would like from the counter. I had a rare blue cheese burger with raw onion. Perfectly cooked. Also had oysters and a Bloody Mary.

Their food is always super fresh and delicious! The staff is so friendly and I swear they remember everyone that walks through their door! I would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone! *Updating a year or so later and it's definitely my favorite bar/restaurant. CJ, Andy and the rest of the crew are so friendly and fun to talk to. Probably the only place I never get tired of going to!

The vibe was fun and relaxed and they even greeted me as I walked thru the door with an studio audience applause. There's no menu. Just tell the cook what you want and they'll make it.

Stopped in before a Brewers game. Savannah was our bar tender and did amazing! The owner and his son were working the kitchen and the food was awesome. Very cool, classic bar to have some drinks at. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Milwaukee.

WOW, the food was packed with flavor! Initially the atmosphere made me feel like I was in the wrong place, even considering going somewhere else. But I am so glad I stayed. The cook was very charismatic and gave the best tips on what to order. The Hangover burger was out of this world amazing! Even made me a pasta dish not on the menu. Everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely will be back!

Came here for the first time yesterday (Sunday) to grab a meal before the game. We had a party of 6 so we made sure to arrive early. We parked easily on the street almost 10 minutes before their official open time and the sign indicated they were open for operation so we headed right in. We were greeted immediately by the bartender, Patrick, who was so incredibly welcoming and fun! He had us playing bar dice by 10am and he was helpful (we don't play bar dice regularly and guidance) a gracious loser! The kitchen is open concept and had our friends from the Oshkosh area excited to experience, particularly our friend who's birthday we were celebrating. When I shared that detail, it immediately eliminated the other choices I had suggested. Birthday girl chose 4th Base and HOLY MOLY did it not disappoint. These reviews raving about the atmosphere, drinks and cuisine are not exaggerating! Our party ordered everything from shaved beef skillets (my selection and another guests and they were OUTSTANDING), crab stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon, crab eggs benedict, a steak, seafood omlette & texas french toast. Nothing needed to be seasoned. Everything was on point, super flavorful and EVERYONE wants to come back. We did have some "opportunities" that could have been improved. One order never made it to the kitchen. They did make the missing order and were very apologetic. The french toast originally just came as toast. They remedied that quickly. It took close to 30 minutes for our server to calculate our bill (which of course having an open concept kitchen with no menu keeps prices a bit mysterious) but in her defense, she was newer and we forgot to mention we wanted our bills split into 3 before we started imbibing and ordering food. This DID NOT detract from the experience. We were patient and it didnt really postpone our intended departure time. We are HOOKED and will be recommending 4th Base to EVERYONE!

Amazing food! Incredible atmosphere! Menu is simple.... pick what you want out of the cold case filled with fresh options and it's cooked to order! If you're gluten free, it's an especially amazing experience. Food is a bit pricey but totally worth it.

My sister, from out of town, and I ate there. It was 10 years ago so it's difficult to remember all the details. We were both shocked when we got a bill for $75 for one beer and two pasta dishes. We chose pasta from the case and it was then suggested that we have a certain sauce on the pasta and this and that. They didn't mention that if you want a plate for your food, that'll be extra; if you want a fork to eat with, that'll be extra; if you want napkins, you'll have to pay extra for that too. Water? Yup, extra. That's an exaggeration but that's what it felt like. Two pasta dishes and a beer, 10 years ago, for $75. I knew I would never go back because I couldn't afford to. I don't have unlimited funds to eat out but everyone raved about this place so I wanted to try it with my sister. Many people who recommended it were doctors at the VA. That might explain why they love it. They can easily afford an expensive lunch without giving it a thought. We had never been exposed to a system where you order food and drinks without knowing how much it will cost. That might be fine for some people but I'm on a fixed income and I have to be a little more selective about where I go to eat. The food was delicious but, I think, way overpriced. All I could think of was how many groceries I could buy for $75. I know I should have written a review earlier but I just thought about it now after reading the reviews.

Tried this hidden gem last night with a friend. If you give it a shot you'll be amazed at the quality of the food coming from this small kitchen. I looked at the options and pointed out what I didn't want, and asked to be surprised. I did not leave disappointed. The mozzarella sticks were freshly made and it showed. The cheese was super soft and perfectly oozy. My friend had the steak. It was seasoned well, cooked to a perfect medium rare and the mushrooms were fantastic. My scallops were huge and also done just right. The staff is super friendly and entertaining. Overall great experience. I'll be back for sure.
